Gorgeous restored building in the center of Sansol! There are really nice common areas (a living room with comfy couches; a patio with great views of the local cathedral; a spot to play ping pong outside). Rooms are nice and it’s generally a great spot.
The communal dinner is bland. Beds are not the best, but it’s the Camino, so take that with a grain of salt.

Excellent, spotless facilities and helpful staff. 2 showers and 1 toilet for 6-bed room, socket and light at bedside. Common areas are extensive, including large common rooms, bar and restaurant (limited menu) shaded terraces and garden. Communal dinner (very good) during low season provided at nearby albergue.
Bunks rather than single beds, but you accept that knowingly when you choose to stay here.

Tolle Terrasse.
Zimmer etwas dunkel und ohne Aussicht. Trotz der dicken Mauern nachts leicht stickig. Kein Fan oder Klimaanlage.

Definitely a unique place to stay. Conveniently located off the Camino. The private room was spacious and the fan came in handy at night. Bed was comfortable. The actual room has stone throughout it and wood beams. The hosts (American couple from Michigan) were super friendly, helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed spending time on the terrace and meeting other pilgrims. There is a little shop a couple minutes walk away which has fruits, drinks, snacks and items you can prepare in shared kitchen. We walked by the shop twice and it was closed, but ended up texting the owner (left his number on the shop door) and he showed up 10 minutes later and opened up the shop. The restaurant next to this place had a nice, affordable dinner menu. We did eat breakfast here and were happy with it - yogurt, fruit, baguette, toast, juice, cheese, ham, tea, coffee.
Bathroom is small and our toilet seat was a little loose.

The dinner was very good. The building was beautiful. Hearing our host play the piano was delightful

The building was lovely, the pilgrim dinner was great and so was the staff.

What did I like? Oh so very much… we splurged on a private room which was on the top floor and the beautiful ceiling made me feel like a Disney princess. It’s in a very small town and being with the other pilgrims and having a wonderful family meal with people from around the world is the best part with wonderful dishes prepared by the hosts. An absolute wonderful stay.

The Dutch hospitalero Mano has to be mentioned first and foremost because he was the busiest but also the most generous and kind hospitalero.
He went the extra mile for the pilgrims on several occasions even during our one-night stay.
He was up early too preparing the generous Dutch/German style breakfast.
The palacio has only been opened as an albergue for two years and it's a stunning, beautiful building which has been perfectly renovated to accommodate pilgrims.
It was nice to meet the elderly owner of the building but I was a little disappointed in the dinner he prepared.
The slice of melon for dessert was refreshing and
the home-made celery soup was nice but to follow that with tortillas (traditionally a breakfast or lunchtime snack in Spain) was a bit of a joke.
I think it was €15 for dinner.
I know albergues have to make money but leaving pilgrims feeling hungry and ripped-off is not the impression most would want to make.
(And I know that pilgrims should always feel grateful etc but this albergue has rooms for non pilgrims and is on Booking so it's not like the old days. Pilgrims need to know if there are negatives before they give businesses their money).

Beautifully restored palaccio. Spacious and clean. A must stay on the Camino, worth the extra walk from Los Arcos.
Communal dinner could be better. Same meal every night but ok if only staying 1 night

Magical place - the story of the place, the communal dinner cooked by the owner, the building itself.
