Very enjoyable

Quaint little Inn with self contained room. Breakfast was amazing. Penelope was very friendly and cooks awesome scrambled eggs. Loved the personal entry. Room was very clean and a good size. Eateries close by. Loved the neutral decor and wonderful paintings.

Perfect location and accommodation

Delicious ‘home cooked’ breakfast … best scrambled eggs I’ve had in years! Attentive host. Beautiful historic building filled with fabulous artwork. Close to recently renovated hotel with a great menu for dinner.

Excellent value in an 1835 Inn!

Lovely interesting historic building, very cool. Our room was comfortable, clean, with ensuite and a kitchenette. Penelope the owner and host was delightful! Friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Excellent value with generous breakfast included and gluten free requirement was no problem either. Excellent budget option! 👍

Nothing to complain about! It's a very old building with creaks and some quirkiness but that was part of the charm for us.

Step back in time

Great staying in a very old stable with modern conveniences. The breakfast was a banquet if wanted but the spread was tasty & expansive. The Old Colony Inn is within easy walking to the Bush Inn for a great evening meal.

A bit of history

Excellent stop on the way to Strahan instead of the usual Hobart. Quaint accommodation with breakfast. Cereal, eggs etc, cooked by our host. Walking distance to the pub or Macca's.

Hosts Penelope and David were friendly, attentive and willing to assist, brekkie was amazing. Lovely and charming heritage listed property with a serene vibe

Lovely place in New Norfolk

Lovely old house with lots off chararcter. Good location for getting close to the Hobart area. Great views of the Derwent River. Fantatic breakfast and friendly host.

Difficult parking. Room could have used some chairs for sitting comfort.

Great host, thoroughly enjoyed our cooked breakfast and open fire. Easy drive to Hobart.

The breakfast was absolutely fantastic, fresh and tasty. Fresh fruit, tea and coffee. The open fire was very welcoming and enjoyed our conversation with our host.

If i had to find something negetive, possibly better heating in the room. But after all it was the middle of winter in Tasmania.

Cosy and welcoming stay

This was our first time staying at The Old Colony Inn. Lovely, historic property and warmly welcomed by our hosts and their lovely dogs. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was very filling and the woodfire was a lovely touch. As mentioned, being historic, it has its creaks and other noises during the windy night we experienced. It adds to the charm of the property.

There was no aspect of our stay that we did not like.

Penny had a wonderful buffet for breakfast, she told us where she locally sourced her bread, made us omelettes and told us the history of the Inn

It was generous and the host was great at providing gluten free and dairy free food etc. Very much appreciated.

A charming BnB

The breakfast was very delicious . It was very central for a lovely walk along the esplanade and then through town.

The room was cold, but when I asked Penny for another heater, she brought one immediately and the situation was rectified.

Historic B and B was the highlight of our trip to Tasmania!

The Old Colony Inn is an absolute treat. The renovated rooms are situated in parts of the original barn area. Our hostess was just wonderful and any request was immediately taken care of. New Norfolk is such a historic town and this accommodation is so well appointed that its worth visiting for a weekend retreat. We loved the soft bed, the bathroom and all that the room had to offer, plus a sumptuous breakfast included in the price. First class accommodation, we will visit again!
