Nice play to stay

Very nice hotel for a low-key vacation. My family has been coming for years. Rooms are minimal but beautiful within their surroundings. The main draw for my family is the friendly staff, an exceptional breakfast, snorkeling directly from and hanging out on the private beach, then taking a taxi each night to town for dinner (which is super easy). With direct flights into Cozumel this all adds up to the kind of low-hassle vacation I love. BTW there are plenty of side activities/tours available for a fee if a faster pace if desired.

The only thing that keeps me from rating this property as excellent is the lack of an elevator. We are a couple of divers in our sixties and hauling 35 lbs. of wet dive gear up three floors is not the easiest task. The room was exceptional, with water views to die for. The breakfast was OK at best. Several dining options are available across the street. Staff was great, and getting taxi’s was easy. This property is located several miles from downtown, so taxi’s are a must. We would stay here again, as you can’t beat the view, the price and closeness to the ocean.

Excellent!

Our family of 4 had a first floor room with two full sized beds for 8 nights. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I requested a crib via email and was told they didn't have any. Then, my husband called a few days before and was told they did have a crib. This was confusing communication and we weren't sure whether to take our pack 'n play or not. Thankfully, they did provide a pack 'n play because we hadn't traveled with ours. The hotel provided two bottles of water every time they cleaned our room, which was enough to get by with in the mornings. It was extremely humid, so we were always thirsty! The buffet breakfast was a 6 out of 10. The made-to-order eggs were the best option. Everything else was stale or very greasy. The employees were not always proactive about refilling the items such as cheese, avocado, fruit, or our coffee and milk, which wasn't self-serve. The fruit was surprisingly not ripe or very sweet. I thought it would be since it's a tropical area. The pool was warm and was generally clean. The bar drinks are about $10 USD each and were nothing too special. You get a plastic cup if you want to drink anywhere in the pool area. The beach is small and rocky with a lot of ants in one area. The beach often had pieces of trash on it, which attracted the ants. But the ocean water was perfect. Overall, it was a fine stay and almost all employees were kind, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay again.

Playa Azul was by far the most beautiful place to stay at & snorkel & all the staff was so welcoming and friendly and accommodating. If your staying in Cozumel & want somewhere safe with the most beautiful view to stay at on the island day or night this is the place

For the money Playa Azul was good! There was no A/C in the lobby, game room or restaurant. But the rooms had great A/C! The staff were very friendly and attentive. Junior suites are pretty large and very clean. We would stay again for the beach and how close to Buccanos it is and the price was good!

Ok stay! Lots of mosquitos. Needs to be sprayed and a bit cleaner on the outside of the hotel

Perfect for a calm and relaxing solo trip as a girl!

The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was great, we ate there most evenings, and the servers were very attentive. The breakfast buffet was wonderful! But please be warned, the older side of the hotel doesn't have an elevator. If you are in your "golden years", the stairs to the 3rd floor can be quite a feat! We would definitely stay there again while in Cozumel, just on the newer side.

Awesome hotel right on the beach with some of the best snorkeling on the whole island. Our beach was private and was never very busy. Hotel staff was awesome and I booked a few different excursions through them and they were all great.

There was a great beach for snorkling with lots of kinds of fish close to shore. Nice big clean rooms Don't try their pizza,trust me.

I cannot say enough about our stay. We didn't want to leave. Already booked for next year !

We had an amazing time the staff was so friendly and they go out of the way to make sure we had a wonderful time The food was delicious better than anything else the fish and shrimp was outstanding the drinks were great the room was nice and clean the view of the balcony was beautiful right on the beach the bed was comfortable slept well and the AC was working wonderful our room was always cool the bar on the beach was awesome we had drinks and lunch it was delicious the water on the beach was fantastic!!! We will definitely be back this year !!!

Everyone was very welcoming. Great quiet stay

Very nice hotel with easy access to snorkeling and diving. Confortable bed, nice spacious rooms with balcony. Friendly staff. The hotel has two restaurants but both serve the same food. That said, the food is good and they have a big menu. No convenience stores nearby nor shops but the taxi to the center is about 10 dollars. We had a great time. Would return and do recommend.

They really need to upgrade rooms and furnishings but overall stay was very nice. Staff is friendly & accommodating. Food is very good.

Great place

A quiet oasis in the middle of Beach Clubs and all-inclusive high rises. The staff was extremely friendly. Daily breakfast was delicious. Get there about 30 min before closing or there may be some items not being refreshed. This was our second time staying here. We will be back again. Thank you.

Lovely & charming older property; fabulous spa, great breakfasts. Staff were friendly, helpful & responsive. Beautiful views from large balcony.

One of th best on the island...............Kermit, Darwin, Ivan, Luis and all the rest of the staff make you feel at home

The beach was fantastic

This was our 10th stay at Playa Azul and we'll keep coming back! The property, just like us, is showing it's age a bit, but the hallmarks that we have come to enjoy are still there, Great and Friendly staff, clean and well maintain facilities, and great food! We also enjoyed the snorkeling very much, which is right off their beach, plenty of fish to see of many varieties. Wifi coverage was fantastic. We also love the location and the tranquil surroundings. A safe running trail, which we used daily, is right out in front of the property. Cab service is easily accessed and only a 10 minute ride to city center. We had an absolutely great and relaxing time at the Playa Azul! We can't wait to go back!

Very clean and Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Rooms are older but they were clean and comfortable! Air conditioning was very good but not consistent ( so you had to manage the thermostat) but it wasnt a problem at all for us. Food at the restaurants was always good and desserts too! You can get snorkeling gear right on site and the reefs are full of lots of fish 🐠! It’s a ways away from downtown which was nice. We had scooters rented so we could go anywhere we wanted. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet spot with gorgeous sunsets and wonderful views! Also staff that were all fantastic hosts!

Incredible staff, amazing beach, great food and drink. We'll be back!
