Quite basic hotel.. Nothing fancy.. Friendly staff.. Building could use some renowating..

The room was great. The restaurant in the hotel however was not very efficient.

Fantastic, central location, easy walking distance to everything in a small town. Nice complimentary breakfast.The hotel is old, the public rooms are pleasant but the individual rooms could use updating. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would consider staying there again. Monet kiitokset!

My husband and I went on a small trip just to get away. I’ve never heard of the hotel before but it looked interesting and we chose it to be where we would stay. Was totally positive experience, hotel is older but very clean. We’ve stayed at newer hotels that had an awful smell in the lobby and in the halls this hotel smelled nothing. No bad aroma no hints of old. Breakfast was good Good not as much geared towards American travelers but still good. In the bar We got to hear pretty good band playing, they also had open mic between band songs and some of the open performers were amazing singers and musicians. Highly recommend this hotel great location, great service, very clean, overall very positive

Historical hotel where I stayed first time. I liked the place but it weared and teared. That didnt bother me but it if you like that everything is perfect then you should consider some other hotel.

Very run down. Looks like it used to be a grand hotel but it’s barely maintained now.

Lovely staff, the room was cute and embraced the Art Deco feel. Had it’s own sauna which was great. Nice and cosy after walking around town. Best place to stay if touring with sea Lapland safari.

Stunning Art Deco Hotel, central to transport, walking distance to the sea, close to amenities. It you appreciate historical architecture you will love this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was not only delicious and a wonderful variety, it was served in the Grand Ballroom which was an amazing room to enjoy.

Beautiful hotel experience, the hotel with interior "Jugend" style, we liked it. It creates an enormous good atmosphere to stay in even then it lacks a bit in practical shape comfort. Said that, the comfort is medium with no influence in our stay - it was a fantastic experience. Restaurant and bar is very nice and service top. So in all very recommendable and a happy experience compared to our streamlined hotel experience.

The hotel is a time-warp place - back 50 years in style, decor, rooms, building! It is a matter of taste if you like it or not. The place certainly needs an upgrade, but it will be difficult to change the rooms. They are small, especially the bathroom is dismally tiny.

This is an older hotel in Kemi Finland. It has something of a 50s feel to it. That is not a negative comment, it is very well maintained, and the people on the staff were friendly and professional. It was clean and the free breakfast was excellent. I noticed that the local policemen also stop in for breakfast sometimes. The price for a night was fair, and I would stay there again if I was in the area.

It is a very old fashion hotel with long long history.However, the service provided was out of my expentation. The staff are nice, the room provide everything you need, and the food of restaurant is also nice.Highly recommend for everyone who need to stay in Kemi

To be fair, I dont believe there were a lot of options in this small town. The main attraction was the Ice Castle. If you arent going to stay there for the novelty of it, overall this hotel was nice enough and the staff were really lovely. It was convienient for a one night stay and only about 10-15 minute walk from the Ice Castle. Another plus was that some of the tours had a standard pickup from here as well. As most of the hotels in the town, they were just older and few amenities.

Should have made arrangements with the property for the access code at the time of booking as I could not rouse anyone using the keypad on the outside. Ended up going to another hotel and have them contact the hotel so I could get in. A bit odd not to have staff at least into early hours of the evening to manage check-ins.

This is a traditional Finnish old hotel and your room will have old style furniture. That said, the beds were comfortable, bathroom shower great. Great hot or cold breakfast each morning with proper strong coffee. Worth staying of you like a trip back into the past and for the central location. Receptionist was lovely, efficient and friendly - superb!

This hotel has a lot of character and charm. I stayed there while traveling on vacation March 18 - March 22, 2014. The front desk was very helpful and always answered all my question with a smile, no matter how many I asked. The breakfast was served on the 3rd floor and they offered a lot of cold and hot items to choose from as well as fresh cut fruit. My room on the 4th floor, 426 I think, was large and warm with facilities to make coffee or tea as well as a mini bar. Plenty of free TV channels in English as well as pay channels. Everything is very close as the city is small so you won't get lost walking about. There is a supermarket right across the street as well as a Subway. Since I don't travel with anything I don't want to lose, there is a laptop in the restaurant near the front desk that is free to use. I was leaving very early in the AM so a cab was booked for men, for the 10 minute ride to the airport, the night before and I was offered either a breakfast to take away or a cold breakfast to eat in the bar. I will stay at the Hotel Merihovi again, the next time I visit Kemi.

We have a private suana room inside our room. Very nice salmon for breakfast. Nice location.

Pick up this hotel on the way from Turku to Alta in Norway, reached really late, and left early morning. it is ok hotel to stay for a night. no good no bad.

This hotel is older but I loved the overall decor. They haven't tried to make the hotel look new but brought out the older features. The room was a good size, there was coffee making facilities in the room and free WiFi. We had a hire car and the parking at the front of the hotel was free.

The hotel is rather old, a bit decadent, maybe, but it has a personality that lacks in those big chain hotels. And the staff was very friendly and kind.

This hotel is aging but was clean and had a nice bar. It's perfectly fine if you're passing through Kemi and need a place to stay for a night.
