This is the second time I have stayed at the Emerald Hotel in Gisborne. I don’t think I would stay anywhere else. The quality of the rooms are exceptional. They are decent sized rooms and excellent value for money. Compared to other hotels around the country, they are shoebox sized compared to the rooms at the Emerald. Lisa and her team are incredibly friendly and their service is exceptional. Lisa went above and beyond in advising us on the best places to go in Gisborne for food and grocery shopping. She is a wonderful hotel manager and I am grateful for the service that she provided. Overall I thoroughly recommend the Emerald Hotel as a place to stay in Gisborne.

central location, alot of closed up buildings around the area. across the road to police station. good off street parking. clean & tidy, great black out curtains. never someone on reception always have to make a phone call to get someone to come to reception.

I use to stay at this property many years ago, was always a stand out in every way. Sadly the property needs a lot of love. Buckets everywhere to catch rain on the ground floor. The rooms cleanliness is not good. Never seen a bathroom floor so dirty. Finger prints on tv. Washed cutlery before using. Hallway tables covered in dust. I would love to see this hotel come back to its own. 😔

Since the Emerald has had a new Manager they have been trying to do some fundamental maintenance and cleaning it is definitely improving and still needs more work but can't fault them for continuing to get the place in order as it is a big task. Well done Management

Don’t waste your money! Gross place to stay, the pool not usable, no restaurant, dusty surfaces and stained carpets, no light bulbs in bedside lights, leaking showers, unprofessional management. Website photos are not correct at all.

I think a very nice property, but it’s not in the condition it was last time I stayed. General maintenance is not great and the central courtyard/pool could do with some attention. As could paint etc in the rooms, but very spacious rooms with lovely big balconies in an excellent location means we will be back. Also found Elaine at reception very friendly

Friendly Service. Located in a great spot. Short walk into the city centre. Comfortable and quiet space. Very relaxing. Best sleep in a while... Will book again if ever in Gisborne.... Thanks again

This would be one of the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in. The room was amazing, extremely clean, spacious and comfortable. The greatest asset to this city centre hotel is the staff, especially the manager, Lisa. All the staff from front office to the young team of room attendants, were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. I became unwell while I was there and was looked after as it I was one of the family. Thank you team, I highly recommend you all.

Great location if you want to be close to town, events and restaurants. The Rivers Bar & Restaurant right next door is great. Nice view of the river and the apartment was spacious.
