The property needs an upgrade.

My family stayed in two rooms at this hotel and I can honestly say that it does not meet the standards of a four-star property. The walls in the rooms were very dirty, the faux wood flooring made a lot of noise, and we could hear people walking in the room next to us. The rooms had poor lighting, especially in the bathrooms. The pool area was not well-maintained and the on-site amenities were limited. The photos on Expedia were deceptive and did not accurately represent the hotel. The common areas were dusty and there was a broken couch. The front office staff were not very friendly; although the manager, Oscar, was attentive, the ladies I interacted with were not.

If, your plan is to enjoying the beach and sea,so it's good location. If, your plan is enjoying places in downtown, you should spend a lot of time and money to reach Barcelona downtown.

Hotel is in good location very close to public transportation, restaurants and beach. Rooms are OK but not clean properly and needed repair. Not even close to being a 4 star hotel.

I used Mataro as a stop by point on my way back to the Barcelona airport so I didn't have much time to visit the area around. It seems to be primarily docks with a few slim beaches. The room was large and had a water view. There was parking on site (for about $15 extra per day).

The best thing about the hotel was the receptionist Mireia. She was very helpful in every way possible. However, the hotel lacked in many areas. To begin with there are outlets in the room compatible to charge any electronics. I left my phone with the receptionist several times to be charged until Mireia was finally able to get me a charger for the room. When I asked Ainhoa for hot water for my thermos to have tea, she said there is no hot water. However, I was able to get hot water the day before and of course I left a tip for it. there is no ice available on any floor. The room temperature is tepid and not at all cool. There are no english speaking channels on the TV. A technician was asked to program it, but was unable to. I spent the week without any tv. And yes make sure you pack plenty of bottled water. Overall, I would never return, too much of an inconvenience. I ate breakfast there once, never went back.

Had a great stay , need more options for spa timigg be a and maybe an extra person to help /do treatments but enjoyed our stay-so many local ice cream/gelato and dessert places stones throw away and lovely restaurants will definitely recommend.

Everybody was just wonderful. Very friendly and very helpful too. This had been my second time at the hotel and as always, I am treated with respect and care.

Staff was really hardworking and friendly the dining menu is the same and change every 3 days. And the menu on the dining is too limited 3 starters and 3 mains to choose from same thing for 3 days was ridiculous but otherwise clean and well decorated modern place. Staff are soooo good

Hotel is a little outdated in the rooms but beautiful on the common areas. Wifi didnt work for the first two days, we called and they said everything was fine. They had to reset the router in our room to make it work. Overall, would recommend if you dont care about the room interior

If you want to spent minimum 80 minutes of your precious vacation time to travel to and from Barcelona this is the hotel for you. Also the last train is at 10:30 so we couldn’t get to enjoy the night life in the city .. some of the people we met had their car broken into at the public parking across the hotel .. the hotel is next to a very noisy ship yard. There are absolutely no nice restaurants around.The neighborhood doesn’t even feel like you are in Spain .. 1 Carrefour and 1 small market is behind the railroad tracks and it will take you 25 minutes to go and come back through this really smelly and shady under passage . The hotel does have a coffee machine in the room however they only provide you coffee on your first day as complimentary. After that you need to get your own. I wish they told us that when we checked in so we could have get it while we were near grocery stores . Round trip train tickets to Barcelona cost about 9 euros a day .. One of my biggest issue was that they write down your credit card number and expiration date on the keycard holder. We left the keycard holder in the hotel when we travel. So how can I make sure my card info wasn’t taken by the house keeping staff ..or if I drop somewhere …I travel for work and personal reasons. This never happened before. Hotel is nice spacious but not in a convient location and front desk staff is far from being customer service oriented ..

Had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Atenea in Mataró, Was one of the most affordable options to stay in Barcelona during the week of Primavera Sound. But will say I don’t recommend for anyone in their 20’s that likes to stay out late like me because the final train leaves Barcelona city shortly before midnight and runs back to Barcelona at 6:16AM. Besides that the hotel was nice and close to a lot of smaller quieter beaches. I highly recommend eating at Dolce Vita, the Italian restaurant by the hotel across the train station.

Great location to walk to lots of dining options on the boardwalk and a beautiful beach is a 10 minute walk. We could hear some hall noise from doors opening and closing nearby when in our room but other than that small complaint we had an excellent visit.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel and perfect location for anyone wanting to enjoy Mataró but also travel into the city of Barcelona! Stunning beaches, a lovely pool, train station only a short walk and a range of places to dine on the door step. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. It was perfect!!!!!!

Great beach town with lots of restaurants about 30 minute train from Barcelona.

Right at the harbor. Great breakfast, but if you book the breakfast-dinner option be aware that there is no buffet but you get three courses (choice of three, no vegetarian option) and those who dine there à la carte sit in the same room as you and what choice they get makes you regret booking your board in advance… not recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay

The property is located on a nice sea front. However, the hotel does not provide any water complimentary in the room, not even on the day of check in. Ideally they should provide water everyday. The rooms are big and comfortable. However, the hotel itself is too far from Barcelona city and the taxi from Mataro is pocket piercing - very very expensive. The hotel does not provide even complimentary parking for its guests. Guests need to pay for everything except the candy at the reception. The restaurant NUUS has limited and very less vegeterian options and the surrounding area has limited or no options for vegeterians. The stay experience and area is good but was dissatisfied with the limited options.

It was a lovely hotel. The staffs were friendly and warm. The environment is amazing too. I enjoyed the breakfast also.

Amazing location! Clean, well serviced hotel. Easy access into Barcelona. Steps to the beach. Lots of great restaurants. Amazing spa and facilities.

Loved this hotel. Had to check in late due to a flight delay, the man on the front desk was so nice and welcoming which was appreciated after a long day. The hotel lobby is really nice and clean, check in was easy and reasonable charges for late check out available which was great. Our room was very spacious, huge bathroom with bath and shower, and a nice little terrace area with sunbeds and a table and chairs. Aircon easy to work, quiet area and hotel was quite too. Bed was super comfy with enough pillows. There are a range of small restaurants/cafes along the harbour that are within walking distance, and the train station/bus stops are about 10 minute walk away. Easy to navigate and get you to central Barcelona. At the train station area there is supermarkets/convinience shops too. We had everything we needed at this hotel and would definitley stay again if we returned. Also, in the bathroom are little care boxes with toothbrush, razor, shower caps etc which was a nice touch.

Great hotel several towns over from Barcelona. R1 line is about 27min ride to metro stations in Barcelona center. It’s reached via public transit train and metro from airport. Nice scenery and beach.
