Great little town for a quick getaway

This is our favorite place to stay in Amador County. The hotel is a gas, very old timey and well maintained. We made dinner reservations and the food and service and atmosphere were impeccable! Don't miss the cute underground bar below, you'll feel like you're in a speakeasy. Great cocktails. We love the location right on Main Street, plenty to do.

This place was amazing. You can see feel the history with a modern twist. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate at the restaurant as we and the food was fantastic. We also loved the downstairs Copper. We really enjoyed our stay and we’ll definitely be back.

I can not recommend this property enough. We were there for only 1 night stayed in the standard queen and it was wonderful even though it was raining. Dinner at their restaurant was very delicious. Staff is unbelievable from front desk to the bars. Will be highly considering Hotel Sutter for my wedding.

My wife and I only stayed 1 night during the week, Hotel was clean but they were doing maintenance in the rooms in the morning and at evening time there were a group of people on the Balcony right next to our window, they were pretty loud, the food at the restaurant was excellent we had lamb shake and the staff was awesome.

Splendid location in the middle of shopping, dining, tasting rooms, antiques shops…and a short drive to the Jackson Rancheria casino. Our stay at the hotel was about what I expected. If you set your expectations on a quaint, older property with few frills then you won’t be disappointed. I should have done a better job looking at the various rooms online prior to booking, as our room was small and not well-ventilated, the bathroom equally as small, and the bed was not particularly comfortable. The people are all great…very friendly, helpful, making sure you’re good. The property itself was clean and quiet when it counted. An enjoyable stay, but not one we’ll likely repeat.

Pleasant remodel of an old hotel, good bar and dining, nicely located, quiet rooms.

The room was shockingly small. Like a closet. I was there for a wedding and several friends were staying in the hotel, the rooms are different sizes and mine was the smallest but cost the same. Bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress needs to be replaced. Bathroom sink had separate hot and cold water faucets and a stopper to fill the sink to make warm water but there is a glass shelf right above it so impossible to wash your face. There is zero soundproofing. You can hear guests in their room and walking in the halls talking until 2am and it’s like you’re in the room with them. The water pipe in the closet in the room gurgled every time someone upstairs flushed the toilet or showered. The lighting is terrible, especially trying to do makeup for an event. The employees are very friendly. The hotel location is excellent. But the rooms are old and small and wildly overpriced. The lodging options are limited in the area but next time I’ll shell out more for a bed and breakfast and get a decent night’s sleep.

Fantastic location with modern upgrades to an historic building.

Front desk staff was excellent in welcoming us and provided great info about the area. Our room was small, but clean and suited our needs.

Hotel building is very old but renovated. Room was nice but small. Bed quite narrow for two people. In the morning there was an unpleasant surprise because of no warm water. Reception told that the water heater had broken. Bad luck.

Beautiful quaint historical town and this little hotel is a gem within it! Great location, friendly staff!! This Hotel & town was decked out the the season. It made our trip to the foothills remember what holidays were about!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I thought the room would be outdated and bed uncomfortable considering how old the hotel was, but we had a wonderful stay. Bed was very comfortable and room was a good mix of old west charm and modern. We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant one night which was great. The Copper Room downstairs had a great live band Friday night and was a fun atmosphere with great drinks. Will definitely be back!

Very comfortable stay.

My sisters and I stayed in a room that slept 4. One of the beds was a Murphy’s bed. We all had a great nights sleep. Plenty of room! We even sat on the balcony to play cards (possible because it was available). The charming hotel had all we needed. Excellent service - such personal and pleasant staff. I have been to Sutter Creek many times and was pleased that my sisters enjoyed their first visit. Wineries, great food, shopping, and a pleasant hotel made a fun get away.
