Another night staying in beautiful Penguin
We have stayed numerous times at the Madsen
So convenient to everything and always so inviting thank you

Rooms neat and tidy. Extra power points needed near the tv.

I was put in a room which was not in the hotel, but down the driveway, out the back. There were broken blinds, so people could see in from the driveway. There was a hole in the bedroom door which someone had done a shoddy job of trying to putty up. There was a dent in the bedroom wall. The headboard was not attached properly and the bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom was not clean. I just felt dirty being there and did not enjoy my stay. It does not meet my definition of a boutique hotel.

Room was comfortable, warm & clean. The honour system for drinks downstairs was a lovely idea, of which we took advantage! Seating area was inviting.
Stairs to upstairs rooms very steep.
Would definitely stay again.

The room is cute with everything you need.

On the beach, close free parking and very close supermarket.
The receptionist was lovely, there isn’t someone in the reception all the time

Best location in town! Great views and spacious inside. Easy parking and check-in. Only thing could be improved if newer towels were provided. Overal we are so happy to stay in Madsen.

Location couldn’t have been more central. In checking in, Phil was super friendly & knowledgeable. Hotel and rooms were all very clean and comfortable. The door locks were very modern and felt safe & secure. There was even fruit, small selection of drinks and coffee included. We will definitely stay again if returning to Penguin in the future.

The stairs were a little daunting with suitcases. The room was lovely but in need of a makeover. Downstairs entry and foyer area were very nice, we enjoyed the complimentary port and sherry.

The Madsen was situated in a beautiful location. The staff were thoughtful, brilliant and accommodating.
The only issue I see is the accommodation needed a lift, however due to heritage restrictions apparently this is not available. This makes people with disabilities a problem.
Would definitely stay here again, just need to ensure I booked lower level.

It was by the sea, lovely and quite, walked to dinner, the room was acceptable.

Dropped my phone behind the bed. When we moved it found a couple pills but overall it was amazing clean functional. Overall worth what is was worth

Location great for walking to restaurants. Unfortunately very noisy (delivery trucks at 6am) and no privacy as room window faced driveway at ground level so needed to have curtains closed at all times. Would choose differently next time.
