Needed a location for three travelers, and we have stayed at the Monarch Mountain Lodge previously. The location is not modern but is a great stop over in the off season. The location says check in is between 3 pm and 11 pm but in two stays here, staff was not available until almost 4 pm. Rooms could use more power outlets. We were able to get a small dinner from the restaurant which was decent.

I received this in an email right after I booked the hotel:
This notice is confirmation of your booking for Monarch Mountain Lodge. We can't wait to see you on …. This is also notification we have completed the charge for your 10% booking fee(s). Please note this is not an extra fee. Your balance is due upon arrival. You will be asked to submit your ID and payment card when you arrive.
I was NEVER told about this fee before booking!!
The hotel also had NO hot water that weekend. We stayed 2 nights. I gave them the benefit of doubt that it would be fixed by Saturday late afternoon. We asked them Saturday evening if it was fixed. Front desk said it was. It was not. When we checked out, they said they would give 50% back for not having hot water. We received nothing. Not professional. They knew they didn’t have the part before we checked in.
This hotel was already on my 1 and done after the extra fee. Now it’s never to go back.
Good thing the no hot water issue was In the summer.
Too bad really, we have monarch season passes.

Like the price, no a/c so we had to buy a fan. Nearest town is like 10 min with more options for food. Really glad we had a place to rest.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Monarch Mountain Lodge! They have such a friendly and helpful staff, as well as some of the most delicious pizza I've had in Colorado. Filled with rustic charm and in such a beautiful location - we will absolutely be back!

They should just tear it down and start over. I used to come here as a kid skiing over 20 yrs ago and the hotel hasn’t changed whatsoever. It’s the exact same after all these years. The area around is beautiful but hotel is older than sin. It’s embarrassing that this is the best thing we have close to the pass.

Good rate and great location. Mountain side balconies are shares but come with a great view. Suites include minni fridge and microwaves. Hotel is a bit dates but rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.

The property smelled musty and like urine. The hot tub was dirty and not at all hot. We didn't even trust going to the restaurant because everything else was in such poor condition. No one around to help out when we ran out of toilet paper had to use the tissues.

I absolutely loved my stay here! The view was amazing, and wonderful service. Food was great! The hotel is older, and has so much character. A breath of fresh air from the newer, busy hotels. I will be back to visit again soon!

When we opened our room window you could hear the small creek running behind the property. From our room we could also watch the hummingbirds at the feeder.

My partner and I loved the scenery. Our room was facing a gorgeous mountain with lots of trees surrounding it. We only stayed for one night but wished we stayed longer to really take in the view.

This property is very old. Our room was spacious, but extremely hot. The refrigerator and the lamps in half the room did not work.

Beautiful setting but staff and cleanliness were completely lacking. Found a bedbug on the sheets in room 405. sheets were not changed from previous guest with obvious evidence (yuck!). Breakfast was delivered by a guy with dirt or something else under his unwashed fingernails. No one onsite to even complain to and no call back from ownership team.

It's April at a ski lodge. Minimum staff, but friendly and only a couple guests in this giant lodge. Beautiful scenery in a vacant lodge.

The Monarch Mountain Lodge is a very old building in need of a lot of work however, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I was very disappointed though that the hot tub was not working (and was told it has not for some time). I specifically booked this hotel because it advertised that it had a hot tub. The restaurant staff was friendly enough and their pizza is very good! Slim picking when it comes to the bar.

This property was so run down it wasn’t even worth complaining about. I think the few people running the place know exactly what’s going on. Damp, outdated rooms, ancient exercise equipment and cold pool, pull out bed was a total joke, not sufficient linens/pillows, the restaurant was empty and cold and had very little to offer, the parking lot want plowed even though the snow kept coming down. It’s really unfortunate because there is so much potential and an obvious need for a hotel close to monarch mountain but……at least it wasn’t expensive.

Pros- great location. Friendly front desk gal and waiter. If you are looking for a hard bed and a tv then this place is for you.
Cons- Everything else. This place is in complete disrepair. If it wasn’t broken it was dirty. The coffee maker in the room was broken, the hot two hot tubs were broken and gross. The indoor pool lighting was as broken and swam in the dark with a flickering light. Most of the games in the game room were broken. The basketball/racquetball courts were trashed downright gross. I would not stay here again

It looks like this hotel got better times. A lot of good features but a lot not working or broke or not well maintained. With that said, personal is very nice and friendly but not always helpful. The person at front is available only after 3 pm. Sauna theoretically available but despite few advices and contacting different guys working there I was never able to make it work. Sink in my room was not draining well and finally got leaking. nevertheless, not too bad for a traveler. I enjoyed it there. With some good management and attention to maintenance it would be a real jewel.

Not terrible for the price, but it’s obvious this property needs a complete remodel. Sticky substance on the television receiver in the room and hand/face prints all over the glass doors leading to the balcony. Pool towels were no where to be found until some other guest stocked some. Maybe this place is going to go out of business soon? Seemed like no one has paid attention to the property in years.

Friendly and helpful staff, the place is quite dated and a bit tired. It was warm and dry place to sleep while visiting Monarch to ski.
