Beautiful property, excellent staff. The WiFi was spotty and appeared to be worked on. The location and view from the rooftop was elite.

The hotel has a very nice “literature” theme to it. All of the staff were kind and willing to help, the evening staff at dinner was phenomenal and friendly. They do a wine hour at 6pm that was nice and their outdoor seating was homey.

Big wow, highly recommended

The hotel is beautiful, great location to the university which was the purpose of our visit. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They helped us with parking our car, which is a big challenge in Coimbra. Our room, which was a one bedroom apartment, was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and plenty. Will stay again if back in the area.

Lovely use of beautiful huge rooms. The design kept the big pen feel of the old rooms by setting them up with a lift line gel. The bathroom/kitchen unit insert is brilliant, but really need some ventilation and better lighting. Staff is exceedingly pleassny and helpful. Hotel is right in the middle of every thing, yet on s quiet street.

The Sapientia staff was wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The hotel is perfectly located close to everything you would want to see. The garden and roof top are truly a beautiful place to relax after walking.

Nothing to complain about. Breakfast was great and location was even better. Parking can be tricky bc of how narrow the street it but other than that, very nice to have it included. The suite we stayed was amazing with views of the yard and rooftops. Spacious and modern but also well maintained with plenty of old time charm. I would definitely stay again.

Very hard to find and all hills,but very nice and staff wonderful.

The hotel was outstanding. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were great. They welcomed us with a glass of wine in the lovely patio area. The restaurant is small but really nice. Coimbra itself is extremely hilly, but the hotel is pretty convenient and not too steep a climb. Roads are very narrow if you're driving a car.

Property and service overall was great. Next to the university and just a short (though hilly) walk to shopping and dining. Only issue was during the day lot of noise from foot traffic and luggage from the floor above, but not an issue at night when sleeping. Great experience overall.

Beautiful location super friendly staff

We stayed in very nice hotels on our Portugal trip, the Sapientia Boutique Hotel among them. The "stories" are mostly about how easy they were to reach and how convenient they were for parking. "Reaching" this one involved a 15-minute re-route, but once we took the right turn, parking was a breeze! The hotel sits opposite the retaining wall of the university above it. Guests can park all along the wall on the alley approaching the hotel and then place a parking permit on their dash. Finding the hotel in the first place was trickier! GPS had us approaching it. We were SO close! But we missed the last narrow, alley-like turn. Suddenly we had a 15-minute re-route until we could approach the hotel again. Play very close attention to your GPS!! Nice location. Nice room. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff.

We loved staying here. The location is perfect, right in the walkable middle of the medieval center of the city next to the college. Rooms were quaint, the food was good. Enjoyed the welcome glass of port when we arrived. My wife mentioned the showers were very hot and the water pressure was great. Enjoyed the stay very much. Only downside was parking, it was tricky to get close. They did indicate that in the welcome message ahead of check-in though.

This is an excellent guest house. We stayed in this addition in the backyard. Extremely spacious brand new very comfortable bed and very quiet. They have an excellent breakfast and excellent lunch, but don’t serve dinner. The location is fantastic. Walkable and safe. This was one of our top hotels we stayed in Portugal.

We traveled here as part of our honeymoon and loved our stay. The service was amazing and we loved the restaurant and the staff. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in Coimbra looking for an excellent boutique hotel experience.

Wonderful stay

Top floor suite was nice but sleeping area was very cramped and up one step from sitting area- awkward at night. Small kitchenette was appreciated although would have been more appropriate for a longer stay. Limited parking and long ramp down to entrance a challenge but reflective of the topography. Restaurant has small but interesting menu and chef/owner very passionate :)

Accommodating staff. A good boutique hotel.

The location is ideal. Right next to the university. Parking near the hotel is scarce but we eventually found a spot nearby. Be prepared to hike back up if you walk down to sights, restaurants etc. We stayed here at the end of March. The weather was terribly rainy and windy. It was so nice to come back to a great room that was spacious, clean and warm. We had the Loft Suite. It was ideal. The common areas are beautifully designed. The main patio is large and looks inviting but due to the bad weather it wasn't open for use. Highly recommend.

Located in university area, close to old town and river. The room us very spacious. Very difficult to park. Breakfast is below average. The heating in our bedroom does not work.
