We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel El Mono Feliz. The property is absolutely beautiful with trees, flowers, hummingbirds, other birds, a lovely pool & a sweet yoga shala by the river. Accommodations include rooms & cabins. We were in a small room with a comfortable bed, nice sheets, good towels, including pool or beach towels. Breakfast is included & is delicious! Lisa, the hostess during our stay, was super friendly, helpful & had great suggestions as to where to go/where to eat.

A lovely little place nestled in the wonderful town of Ojochal. Beautiful setting, quiet, surrounded by nature and beautiful birds that keep you company while you have some great breakfast by Claire. She is the awesome hostess who always greets you with a bright smile and is eager to accommodate and help with any questions or needs. We loved our adorable bungalow which had enough space and amenities for my husband and I. The place is magically beautiful, clean, friendly and kind staff, and a lovely owner. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every day! Will definitely go back!

Wow-y wow-y wow, wow. Um, for me, it was exactly what I wanted, needed, and more. It was meditative, deep nature, and then opportunity for adventure. Claire made it feel quickly like home with unbelievable breakfasts with hummingbirds and strangers who are friends. Do not come here if a power outage would ruin your trip. Do not come here if you expect a big room (you don't at all need it.) But if you hear your heart pulling you, listen. You will be so glad you did. I will never be able to express all that I got out of my time at el mono feliz. I left feeling like everyone working there is someone I can't wait to get back and see soon. Also I love walking so I had no problem being carless. And jeez leweez it's such a warm generous peaceful culture. Do plan to drop any White colonial cultural norms when you arrive because what you'll experience will prove to you how much better life can be. La Pura Vida!

Stunning natural setting/landscaping but not overly "groomed" or artificial looking. Staff is gracious,attentive, and helpful. Fantastic value. Wonderful that we can eat such a delicious breakfast everyday that just happens to be so healthy. Booking my next stay already!

Lovely place to stay, enjoyed the sounds of the river, rustic rooms, refreshing pool...not to mention Claire is an awesome host!

Claire was the best host that we’ve had in our long travels in Costa Rica to date, she even came to pick us up from the bus stop and waited for a long time as our bus had been delayed, she showed us all the eateries during the drive and when we arrived at the hotel, she took the time to give us a glass of cold water, maps and key information. The breakfast options were delicious and I particularly enjoyed the nutritious overnight oats, it’s not something that is readily available in CR so was a wonderful treat. The service she provided was faultless. The grounds were a piece of paradise. We managed to spot some birds that we hadn’t before from our cabin. There was an abundance of birds and butterflies, a peaceful sound of running water from the river and lots of tweeting. Our only regret is that we didn’t spend more time enjoying what Hotel El Mono Feliz had to offer.The room itself was adequate but with lovely touches and very well sealed throughout to stop bugs from getting into the cabin.We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks all!

The property was A plus all around. The delicious breakfast each morning, the convenient location, the incredible garden, the beautiful pool, our lovely and pristine cabin, the up close birds and monkeys, but what really stood out was the kindness of the two wonderful managers, Mike and Diana. They made our last two days in CR the two best days of our trip. In a country of beautiful people, these two really stood out!

A simple but lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. We liked it so much we extended our stay. Breakfast is different every day and is taken with views of the bird table where fruit has been placed. You will see so many different types it’s mesmerising. From our window we saw a large iguana in the tree every day. There is a viewing platform in the forest with seating where you can sit quietly to watch wildlife. There are many restaurants nearby so it was a good stay. The owners are helpful and friendly and are happy to help with anything. It’s a little out of the way but we loved that aspect.We can’t recommend it highly enough.

The hotel is owned and managed by a very nice couple. They are very helpful and always eager to have a chat. We loved the breakfast and the pool area.

Beautiful spot with very friendly staff and great breakfast. Stayed in the secluded jungle bungalow which was a real treat, surrounded by lush vegetation and plenty of birds. Close to many good restaurants.

Highly recommend to stay here! We were warmly welcomed by Mikey at their great place! In middle of nature, fabulous property with blooming fruit trees and many beautiful birds. The breakfast the chef and Diana were making was finger licking good!

The property is great! Personal attention by the owners is amazing. Breakfast really tasty and fresh. Surrounding areas are magical, you can spot several birds and other local fauna !

The property was incredibly tranquil and welcoming. I felt at home the moment I arrived. It was a well needed getaway after Envision festival. Very thankful for the lovely staff and our chats. Hope to be back next year!

We really enjoyed our two-night stay at el Mono Feliz. Our hosts, Rhonda and Dave (caring for the hotel while the owners are away), were very friendly and accommodating. What we really liked were the listings of local activities and restaurants that were provided in a very quick easy-to-read format. Rhonda didn't hesitate to make restaurant reservations for both nights we were there. We enjoyed both restaurants - The Bamboo Room and Helonica. Lalo Tours is a short walk away from the hotel and my partner and I went on a horseback ride to to Ojochal Waterfall with our tour guide, Ricardo. He was a terrific guide and the horses we rode were well cared for and calm. The gardens at el Mono Feliz are beautiful and the hummingbird feeders very busy. Breakfast was tasty. An enjoyable stay.

Great place away from the “tourist “ areas. Comfortable and the managers made us feel like we were at home. Loved watching the hummingbirds in the morning while we ate the phenomenal banana strawberry French toast. The fireflies at dusk were a special treat.

Lovely little hotel with staff that couldn't do enough for us! Beautiful beaches and nice restaurants nearby . Lots of wildlife in the hotel grounds.

Ojachal itself is strange. Everything is hidden, or on a dirt road. We had an easy time finding Mono Feliz though because their signage was good. We were mesmerized immediately. The gardens were gorgeous; different colours and blooms and scents with every step. There were Humming birds, geckos, and a Caymen in the little stream that runs through the property. We stayed in one of the little bungalows with a kitchenette. It was perfectly appointed. We chose it for the air conditioning and ended up using the fan above the bed and didn’t need air after all. Patrick went the extra mile to get us reservations for restaurants and suggested some amazing tours. We were really pleased to find out for both tours we went on; we were part of a more intimate group. It was nice to have only 8 people on both our tours! We met Todd at breakfast, he was a gracious host and made sure we had directions to our destinations. These guys make a great team! I wish I could re-do our departure because I nearly ran out of there. I got all emotional and new I was going to be a mess if I didn’t walk away. Thank you Patrick and Todd. We loved your little piece of heaven and are planning to return next year if you’ll have us!
