We really enjoyed our stay - wish we could have stayed longer. The Inn WAS special, Lyle was a good host, and breakfast was such a nice offering. YES, we will be back!

This converted school is a hidden gem for visitors of the area wine trails. The breakfast served to your room daily was more than we could eat and was delicious and healthy. The room was beautiful keeping in a pink theme (each room has a color). The innkeeper was very friendly and was quick to respond to any requests. Couldn’t have made a better choice for our weekend tasting wine.

Great, unique building in an impressively renovated school, the breakfast was absolutely incredible and the atmosphere was quiet, private and relaxed. You can tell care was put into every detail of the place. Would highly recommend! Thank you Lyle and Tammy.

Only problem with staying at the inn is the stairs and the creaky floors. Great breakfasts.

Owner/Host was outstanding and worked with us through some travel issues with flight cancellations etc. The nostalgic property offered us exactly what we needed for a weekend trip to visit family in the area. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and accommodating, and the breakfast was OUTSTANDING. I would recommend to anyone needing a room in the area.

Davie school Inn is a beautiful piece of history. Started with a brief tour, then onward to our room (purple) which was a gorgeous escape from the everyday. In room jetted tub, beautiful fireplace, sitting area for dining and entertainment, freshly made breakfast delivered right to our door and a super comfortable bed and pillows are just some of the thing we loved on our stay. Lyle did a wonderful job as our innkeeper. Super informative and always ready to help with anything you may need. All in all a gorgeous little gem right here in southern Illinois.

This Inn was amazing!! It was such an interesting place. We were in the Red Room and it’s theme was geography. There were lots of globes and maps. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I’ve ever found in a hotel/inn. The innkeepers were wonderful and the breakfast was so delicious!! We will definitely be back!!

Davies School was amazing! What a great concept and preservation of a wonderful history. The hospitality is unmatched by anywhere else we’ve stayed. And the fresh homemade daily breakfasts are phenomenal can’t wait to stay here again!

Davies School Inn was a unique, fun experience. The rooms are former classrooms so they are more spacious than an average hotel room. Ours had multiple beds and I loved the layout. Kids and kids at heart can play basketball in the gym. There are hodgepodge libraries for movies and board games. Throw in a jetted tub and homemade breakfast (ours was French toast with locally sourced peaches) and it's all a great value.

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at this property while picking up our son from SIU. If I am being honest, I was a bit skeptical about staying in a 100+ year old school classroom. Not anymore. Rooms were huge, beds are super comfortable, great shower pressure, etc. All the things that you would expect from a high end hotel. Lyle and Tammy were great hosts and the breakfast was fantastic! (Baked french toast with apples, eggs with cheese, fresh fruit, and OJ). We will definitely be back again. :)

This is the most unique place I’ve stayed in and couldn’t believe the service. The owners provide a great place, fantastic breakfast, and recommendations about local attractions and activities. Can’t wait to stay again!

Old building but very clean with spacious room, comfortable bed, and updated bathroom (including jacuzzi) and strong Internet. Excellent homemade breakfast. Attentive innkeeper. Would definitely return on another trip to the area.

This is an excellent bed and breakfast that is in a former school that was built in 1910. Each room has a theme such as the Geography Room with maps and atlases. The rooms are very spacious and decorated with books and antiques . The breakfasts were gourmet quality with more than enough food to eat. The innkeepers are very gracious and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would return the next time we are in Southern Illinois.

We were welcomed by Lyle and Tammy at 11:30 PM with smiles on their faces and a willingness to meet out every need. It was a very unique place to stay and from what we could see the best place to stay in the area. Each room was tastfully decorated in a unique way. We stayed in the pink room and it was the size of a large classroom with a kitchenette, a full private bath and a jaccuzzi in the room. Each morning we were given an outstanding breakfast at the exact time we requested. Lyle and Tammy could not have been nicer and more accomodating than they were. Shawnee Forest is massive and not everything is well marked. Lyle knows where all the places are and he can show you places that are not easy to find and save you lots of time. It is well worth the stay and when you go say hello to Lyle and Tammy for us.

We stayed in the Brown room for our visit. The property is unique, with amenities in addition to what is advertised online. The service is friendly, personal, and high quality. The beds were perfect. Even the breakfast was served hot & fresh to our room at the moment we wanted it! I look forward to staying there again. The only improvement I could think of is for me to have asked how to operate the Keurig. I felt ridiculous calling for help making coffee :p

This is a completely unique b+b! We stayed in the blue room (2nd grade). The owners are on site and are prepared to take care of your every need. We had a delicious breakfast. If you are in the are don't miss this place!

This place is a hidden gem. Truly a unique b&b, (and I've been to a few!). The owners have thought of everything and you never lack for treats or coffee here. They have popcorn, treats and snacks set out for the guests and each room has a kureg with tons of coffee, teas and hot cocoa for every taste bud. The common area has a plethora of board games and puzzles to chose from as well as some in the rooms. The rooms? HUGE! and each has their own "feel" to it. I'm picky about my mattress selections but the queen bed I slept on was perfect. The sheets are also premium. Two things to keep in mind - noise does bleed over from floor to floor BUT they do have a posted quiet time which is 10:30-7, and it never bothered us. We also stayed on the 2nd floor, facing the road (yellow room) which isn't very dark in the a.m. - but again, it didn't bother me as I'm an early riser. Lyle and Tammy were excellent hosts, they really wanted to make sure we had everything. Breakfast was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try out a different themed room!
