There were roaches. Then, you couldn’t use the light switches because they had probably illegally remodeled and bypassed the house’s original floor plan by erecting plywood walls to make “bedrooms.” They ignored the fire code by plugging extension cords into other extension cords. Also, the smoke detectors were either removed or didn’t have batteries.

I really enjoyed the wild hosts. They really come alive at night. I met up with the cat right before leaving and you’d barely recognize it since it looks like skin and bones during the day. At night, it resembles a fat cat without loose skin or rolls. Wish I would have known that there were going to be chickens around. I would have brought food. You also need change for the laundry machines. The place was nice and cozy. I kept to myself. It was in good condition when I arrived. I would have used new mops or t shirts in each room for mopping.

Best staff included two cats and over eight chickens. They decorated the entry and greeted right away. You wouldn’t recognize them at night. Don’t forget to bring them brand new and sealed food.

I made a reservation for May 4 for one night and when I arrived, they told me the room was not available and I could not stay there. I need a credit for this reservation. Please advise.

It was close to our destination. Outside the facility dirty,we didn't get no towels place looks old outdated, there was a roach in our room, bed uncomfortable more like a camping cot

Great value! I got my own room and the basics. I was able to get in despite arriving later than planned thanks to a helpful on site manager. It's about 25 minutes from Indian Wells if you're considering it for the tennis tournament. Bathrooms are shared but clean and I was happy with the overall experience.
Recommend earplugs if you're a light sleeper (I had a snorer next door and the private rooms are not noise proof due to incomplete walls).

I want to make it clear that the two of us have stayed in hostels multiple times - both separately and as a couple - so this review is taking into account the fact that Crashpod is not a hotel and isn't pretending to be one.
That being said, the room that we booked was not at all what we were expecting. It was tiny, almost closet-sized, with a cot for a bed. You can see this from the pictures, but I still wanted to include it as context. The room was described as "private" but I would disagree with this description - the doorway had large gaps above and below the door, presumably for ventilation, which make it possible to see, hear, and smell the other guests. There were also no windows and the room was extremely hot and stuffy, despite the fact that it was only around 65 degrees outside. Also, other guests had clearly been smoking inside the hostel and the entire room reeked.
I don't have a ton to say about the other facilities - the hostel itself was cute and seemed clean enough, the staff that we spoke with were friendly and somewhat helpful - because we ultimately decided not to stay. I gave the hostel a head's up that we were not satisfied with the room and I was not offered any kind of refund, which is why I feel the need to write this review. I hope others booking these private rooms understand what they are getting into before paying.

This is an extremely basic accommodation. Be prepared for cats, chickens, and "interesting" folks you share the space with. Travel light and keep your stuff with you. Slept with my stuff in my bunk with me. I would do it again though, just be aware before you go what to expect.

Room was not what was expected. It was an internal room with no windows. bed was 2 single bed frames with a piece of wood on top and an extremely thin mattress on top. The only furniture in the room was a plastic chair with a small light on it. The door had gaps above and below it. Bathrooms looked clean but i chose not to stay and went elsewhere. Staff member was very unsure of which room i was in and wrote front door and room lock codes on a scrap of paper and gave it to me.

Area was dark. Nobody answered the door. It was just a private home and very dingy. Very scary feeling. I want my money back.

The staff was very friendly. I liked the improvements to the property since the last time I stayed here 2 years ago. For a hostel in the desert it is very nice.

Motor home no ac, rooms with ac have no private bathroom, backyard lacks of light so look creepy and unsafe.

This is certainly not like your typical Hostel. Like other reviews say it is kinda like a refuge for all kind of different people, but non in the less my stay was nothing wrong with. The staff is very friendly and the room an ammeneties were relatively clean. They have animals walking around like chickens and a cat. The free breakfast is not really a breakfast, it's an opportunity to bake yourself a fresh egg from their chickens if you like (I had to laugh when he explained this to us). Also I recommend just calling the property itself or do a walk up since it is like half of the price (50 dollars for a room), which corresponds much more with what you get.

Not a hostel, but a place for homeless people. Felt unsave.
The room was very small and dirty. The airco was noisy and full of dust, so we did not dare tot put it on. The restrooms and kitchen are dirty too. The garden is nice, but full of people smoking.
There is no breakfast, only coffee and some eggs.
Strange and unfriendly welcome, you have to send your ID before you get a key.
When we complained about the room, the owner became angry. In the end he gave is back 10 dollar, but I think 70 dollar for such a horrible place is still far to much. So defintely don't go!

The check in process was strange where they had you send a picture of your ID. Then the area felt unsafe completely. The people that were supposed to show me to my room didn’t end up being there and all the other people there had no idea who I was referring to. The bathroom had flies all over and it felt unsanitary to even shower there. I felt the need to keep to myself and lock myself in my box room with minimal light and window and outlets.

I wasn’t able to stay due to a family event. I called a month ahead and was told that they would cancel my reset and refund the money. I called a week before my expected arrival and was told they would not cancel my reservation and thst I would be charged for all three nights. Extremely disappointed.

An affordable place to crash overnight near Palm Springs (on a holiday weekend at the last minute). No frills, but the hosts were so sweet and did their best to accommodate.

Rented a room advertised with 2 beds and ended up with one having just one bed for my buddy and I. We rock, paper, scissored it and I ended up sleeping in the back of the Jeep. Didn’t really get much use out of the facility and in checking the fridge it appeared I would’ve been grabbing other guests’ items, particularly the eggs, which were mentioned to come from their chickens. We checked in at 9:15pm via text mentioning we were on our way )crashing for the night hike early the next day) and it appeared they have our room/2 beds away. I would check in early with them so this doesn’t happen to you.

Private room got double booked and arrived to an occupied room after already having checked in. It was a busy New Year weekend and they work off volunteers. Overall not a terrible experience

We really enjoyed our stay here! Our only advice is that itd be nice if the rooms had some hooks put up? Possibly on the backside of the door

My friend and I were visiting a specular event during November and found this greatly-priced convenient hostel, where a very friendly staff member, Kat, went above and beyond her call of service to be pleasantly accomodating to us. She opened up a new room when all other regular rooms were not available. In addition to excellently santizing surfaces, she also provided us our own laundry facility and free detergent.
We received a great experience for the economic price we paid. Kat, we cannot thank you enough for your warm hospitality.

Loved the country feel to this hostel! It was quiet inside even though there was some construction on the street going on outside; I couldn't hear it from my bunk. The staff was kind and helpful, going out of their way to make my stay a relaxing experience. I would definitely recommend the Crashpod Hostel if you're visiting the Palm Springs area. It's a safe and inexpensive place to stay.

This hostel has to be the worst run. Their website is misleading and basically is an outright lie. The room depicted with a sitting area and TV does not exist. It also advertise eggs and coffee, but the coffee maker was broken and eggs were not in the kitchen. I was told by JT that if the weather is hot the chickens don't lay eggs, if they don't lay eggs then none are available. John one of the managers was constantly turning off the AC and complaining how much it costs. The weather was 113+ during the day, and 85+ at night. Very warm inside. They have cameras for video surveillance, but these cameras are also capable of recording and evesdropping in private conversations. If you enjoy your privacy don't stay here. Website states, "Eat what you want anytime you want," actually means from 8am - 10pm. If you get ice after 10pm in the kitchen and happen to make noise - Sara the other manager will remove it from the kitchen. The use volunteers as all hostels do, however labor laws state they can only work 20-25 hours a week, yet I observed them working 8+ hours a day. The operation of this Hostel should be investigated by the State Labor Board and for false advertising. Very disappointed in my stay!! Bed n' Breakfast up the street will get my business in the future

It was clean ..if you're looking for a hotel atmosphere don't go here this is more as hostile sharing a house with different people and you don't have a TV in your room and my bed was super hard but the people overall were nice there isn't breakfast I think it's just toast but if you just need somewhere to crash you need to go to bed this is a perfect place for it all in all I didn't mind it cuz that's what I needed was somewhere to sleep so it worked out great but for the ones that are looking for a hotel this isn't for you but like I said if you're looking for somewhere to sleep rest your neck this is a good spot people are nice good atmosphere..

I enjoyed the kittens and hens walking around outside in the courtyard.
