The hosts were attentive and gracious. The home was well set up for shared and private time. There were lovely soaps and shampoos in the restrooms. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and there are indoor and outdoor eating areas. Though some in our party have lived in MN for decades and others had been to the state a dozen times, we'd never been to Detroit Lakes, MN. We came to visit this quaint town and also to see Thomas Dambo's six trolls. The first troll is a 10 minute walk from this home. The other five trolls are a short drive. In visiting the trolls we saw many natural parts of MN which were beautiful and welcoming. The trip refreshed our souls and the home was a great place to return to each day and share meals.

This house was absolutely the cutest! It was so close to the lake and restaurants for our group and was the perfect size for our group of 5!
Chris is such an attentive host and responds so quickly if you ever need him and is one of the best hosts I’ve ever worked with!
10/10 would stay here again if I’m needing a place to stay in Detroit Lakes!

We had such an amazing experience here! The house was beautifully done and super clean. It’s a quick walk to the beach and all the beachfront restaurants. The hosts had great communication before and throughout our stay. Every time they communicated, it was timely and relevant, we were never left wondering about anything. The expectations or rules were very clear and in line with what you’d expect for staying in someone’s home. They even had the checkout list and a binder with tons of information easily accessible. The house also had everything you could want or need, especially for families with little ones! It’s obvious that these hosts take pride in their guests experience and their home and it showed in everything they did. I would 100% come back and recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay near the beach in Detroit Lakes!

Beautiful home, very clean, incredible and secure internet (I easily dialed into my work server located in Minneapolis), easy check in are only a few words to describe this VRBO. I have stayed in other VRBO's with family for vacations, but this was not a vacation for me. I checked in on the 5th of May after I changed my reservation 3 or 4 times and Chris and Kensie were very accommodating.
My knee replacement surgery was on the 10th, and I had family members coming and going to check/care for me. Chris was very upfront and said I would have 3 steps to go up and down to get in their house, but that there is a railing. I had no problem getting in and out.
On the third or fourth day after surgery, I received a beautiful floral arrangement wishing me a speedy recovery from Chris and Kensie. I was so surprised and that made my day. This was not an easy surgery for me; but the house main floor was wide open, and I could get around very easily with my walker.
If you are looking for a place to stay for surgery or vacation; this IS the place. Even though I couldn't enjoy the lake this stay, my family did when it wasn't raining. It's only a few blocks away (easy walking distance).

My friend and I stayed at this property over the weekend and surprisingly were able to stay within a 2-block radius the entire time. In one direction you have the lake, beach, and bars/restaurants. In the other direction, you have shops, a cafe, co-op, bookstore, brewery, and restaurants. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. For two women, we felt safe the entire time and had a wonderful stay.

This house is adorable and fit us perfectly! Chris was very responsive and so nice! We were close to town and it was an easy walk (if it wasn’t so cold out)
I would highly recommend this home. Again absolutely adorable!

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent weekend stay at Escape on Lake. We found the home very clean, comfortable and well stocked. The location was perfect for walks down by the lake and very close to downtown for shopping and restaurants. The host was very responsive when a small issue popped up while we were there. Don't hesitate to book this place for your next stay in Detroit Lakes!

My extended family and I had a full house with 7 of us staying at the property. The beds were so comfortable. I don't think I've ever bragged about such a great night sleep away from home.
The kitchen and baths were well stocked with amenities to make our stay even better. The bathtub, which is huge, got a lot of use and enjoyment.
I would definitely stay here again when visiting DL!

Enjoyed our stay in this updated property. Appreciated the nice appliances, W/D on main level & two full lovely bathrooms as well as nice table out back. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout — coffee, laundry supplies, generous amount of towels, etc. Only suggestion is to clean up weeds in backyard but really so minor. Thank you — we hope to be back next year!

I am originally from the area and visit often with my kids and my brothers kids. This was the perfect location! Walking distance from the beach, the mall, restaurants. You can walk to Zorbaz easily!
The place was great. Cute & cozy. Very clean. Owners definitely paid attention to details. Owner checked in regularly to see if we needed anything. They had a cute little gift basket w a note waiting which was so nice.

Beautiful well kept home tastefully decorated with quality appliances and decor. Very clean and well maintained home.
The location is ideal for neighborhood walks. Easy walk to all restaurants, entertainment, and the beach too! Quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
When we arrived there was a welcome card and a basket with some goodies for us. They also had many of the necessities one would need above and beyond most VRBO homes.
Chris was responsive and a great host!

The property was amazing. super clean and modern. Huge kitchen to work in, we made apps for dinner both nights.. Property was so close to shopping, the lake and restaurants. We stayed in both nights playing games and drinking wine!

Very cozy and feels like home away from home. Chris checked in to ensure my stay was comfortable and was always a message away. Appreciated the complimentary coffee and creamers, and all other household items available. Upscale hotel feel and warm and inviting. Will stay again for my next visit.

We were a family of 4 staying over the New Year Holiday. This property is a fantastic location. Walkable to Zorbaz, Washington Street, and the beach. We skied at DL Mountain, and that was only a short drive away. Property was very clean. Communication was great. There are two covered parking spots off the street. Each of my teenagers took a bedroom upstairs and my husband and I stayed on the daybed (with trundle) on the main level. The main level (off the kitchen) is where the shower is. Don't worry if you don't get a code to check in the day before, Chris sends it 30 minute prior to check in time.

Nice, clean, well kept property. We liked the house and location for the 4 of us guys who stayed there. It is within walking distance to local restaurants and bars which was convenient. Would stay here again!
