We were in town for a wedding, and decided to book a room at the last minute. The location was fantastic and the neighborhood was very clean and quiet. Shannon was very hospitable. She was ready for us a tad bit earlier than 3 pm so we could check-in and get ready. We stayed in 'one of the smaller rooms'. The room has beautiful large windows, but those windows and the afternoon sun made for a hot box that just never cooled down enough to be comfortable. Thankfully we had a fan in the room. We did not receive the complimentary bottle of wine, but I'm sure if we had asked it would have been presented. I'm certain we would stay again if the opportunity arose.

Excellent BnB set close to historic downtown Galveston. Easy to access, quite and comfortable. Perfect retreat for a birthday weekend get away.

We had a wonderful stay! The weather had gotten bad and i got drenched. The owner was kind enough to allow me to come in early and freshen up. The house was wonderfully quite even tho it was completely booked that night. Everything you need is there.

This place was great! Great location, close to the Strand where all the shops and restaurants. Met the owner and she was so nice. Definitely worth it to stay here. We will definitely be coming back to this place!

Loved the charm of this place and the area surrounding. Communication with the host and check in was easy. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the area was quiet. A nice weekend getaway.

The property was exceptional, but the noise from the other guests kept me awake until 3 am. The guests were very loud and disrespectful. They have pretty much completely disrupted my night sleep and the overall stay. Although I liked the property I am very disappointed with the experience.

Another wonderful stay at The 1890 Freeman House. We stayed in the Stuttgart room. It was absolutely fabulous. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spacious. The whole property was very quiet and peaceful. It was such a nice experience. Thank you so much. Highly recommend!

Was a unique restored home in a historic neighborhood...if you're not just looking to hang out on the beach..this is convenient ly located to most anything you would like to do on galveston Island

The 1890 Freeman House is wonderful. Perfect location for the Strand. We walked to the Strand every night for dinner. The house is beautifully decorated, with several balconies to enjoy. The front porch rocking chairs are fun to people watch. Our room had a balcony and rockers. We sat out there for breakfast and an evening refreshment before strolling to dinner. We can’t wait for our next trip and definitely staying at the 1890 Freeman House. Didn’t get to meet the Ghost. Maybe next time.

Shannon was at the house the day we checked in and was very charming and welcoming. She offered to help with our luggage, showed us the coffee station, and told us about the house and common areas. She showed us our room. We had a room with an en suite and a lovely claw-foot tub with a shower. The bath was relaxing, and the bed had a thick pillow top that felt good after a long day. I will be a return customer. I have a business trip once a year, and if I do not return for vacation, I will stay there next year.

Love the character of the facility. Better than staying in a generic hotel. Good price and easy access to Carnival terminal. Ate at Katy’s Seafood and it was delicious. Our waiter was Roger and he did a great job. Will definitely stay here again.

It is a beautiful, well maintained property. There were thorough instructions about how to access the building, because there is no one on property. I would stay there again.
My only suggestion is to replace the guest book. There is no more room to write in it.

Host was never there. Had plane trip earlier in the day.
4 of 6 rooms are upstairs (23 of them). If you are going on a cruise & have a heavy suitcase, ground floor is best.
A clean but older house, aging gracefully.

The property was great. He was a great room with a little balcony. The bed was a little high and I ended up falling so that was one concern. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty so that was my only other concern. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.

Walking into the foyer is like stepping back into the Victorian era…luxurious and beautifully restored and decorated.
Lots of amenities, our room and bed were extremely comfortable, and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. The Strand has lots of shops and restaurants and the homes are showing the resurgence of a bygone era.
Highly recommend for a romantic couples getaway.
