I can't speak positively enough about this reservation! From check-in to check-out everything was perfect. The location is so stunning and the hosts are wonderful. I spent hours by the river and loved every second of it. The room is spacious, comfortable and charming. The neighborhood is very cozy. Crater Lake was a beautiful and easy drive! You won't be disappointed staying here if you're looking for relaxation, beautiful views and kind people.

This was supposed to be a relaxing Mother-Daughter weekend. The reviews and pictures leave out a number of points that would have prevented me from booking this place. #1: This actually is a side ROOM to the owner's forever home--they live 15 steps up from where you stay. Though doubtful, tt is unnerving to wonder if they are going to come downstairs to check on you [my teen had anxiety the entire time]; in addition, when they move around upstairs, you hear it. #2 It is not mentioned that there are chickens on the property {that is only mentioned in a review]--they are literally right next to your room, and you cannot open one window without seeing chicken poop {gross!}. #3 As a family ROOM, there are pictures of the owners and their children, as well as books about cults and "Jesus" signs everywhere. #4 The kitchen is not a functional kitchen--there are no frying pans or cooking utensils, like spatulas, so bring your own. #5 The implication is that it is a slight walk down to the river. Cleared up better in a review and this one--it is quite steep, dozens of steps, and NO rail. DEAL BREAKER, ZERO STARS: As an old home, we had to deal with old plumbing. The first night, all went fine. The second night, about 8:15pm, our toilet clogged up. We ended up with no working toilet or shower after the owner worked on both for over an hour. So we were told to do our business (both) in a hospital port-a-potty and he would fix them after we left the next day. It was a horrible night.

This was a great relaxing hideaway. The bed was comfortable and everything worked great. We made Sunday a day of rest and enjoyed just hanging out at the property for the day. Steve and Jayne were away for most of our stay but left us a dozen eggs. They have about ten chicken next to The unit and our dog loved going over to the coop to visit them. Every time she walked up to the door they all came running over to greet her. They were very quiet and we never heard them during the night even with the windows open. The only surprise that we found wus the angle of the photograph showing the river frhit the fact that there are seventy steps made from railroad ties that lead down the hill. I am in my sixties and had my hiking poles, so I was comfortable going down with those, but access to the river is not for those with significant balance problems.

This cozy apartment has the perfect spot to sit and watch the river. Host is most attentive and the bed is comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shady Cove in this unique, comfortable rental. The surroundings were gorgeous with a beautiful river running close by and wildlife all around. The space was a modest size and a little cluttered but well cared for and lots of character. The host was very warm and friendly and genuinely welcoming to us. Especially well suited for a “fisherman’s weekend”!
