They were communicative, friendly, responsive. I was able to chat with them at any time and they were so helpful. They were willing to pick me up from the airport in middle of the night and when I didn’t need that, they had someone waiting up for me, greeting me and helping me with my bags.
The room was comfortable, beautiful furnished, private and clean. The shower and bed were great. When I left, I got my first “Pura Vida” and a friendly goodbye. I would definitely come here again.

Booked one night near the airport for an early flight - far exceeded expectations! The loveliest, friendliest and homiest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Super welcoming, were so helpful with my limited Spanish, had really nice areas to hang out and even managed to put the Ireland rugby match on the tv for me! They arranged an airport transport for me which was great and I can’t leave a review without mentioning Holly the dog who clearly runs the show, a sweet sweet pup!

I liked everything.
I stayed twice, and upgraded to a private room the second time.
They just installed an Air-conditioner.
The room had Roku and a large walk in shower with a sunroof.
The breakfast is included and the two hosts are extremely nice and helpful.

Gardens house was fantastic! They were super nice and very hospitable. For a small price, they even made us dinner which was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend staying at Gardens house if you need a simple place to sleep near the airport. The front and back areas were filled with beautiful plants and there was a hammock which was nice!

Really wonderful hostel run by a lovely family. I stayed in a single room. It’s no frills for sure but that’s what I paid for. Everyone was super friendly and the family will drink with you at the kitchen table. Highly recommend, would stay here again. It was a short walk to downtown alhuela and the hostel itself is in a gated community of sorts. It all felt very safe.

The Garden’s house team made me feel welcome and always had answers to all my questions. Everything was clean and accessible. I am already planning my next stay at Garden’s House.

Absolutely wonderful staff. They cooked a delicious vegetarian meal for me at a very cheap price and drove me to the airport at 4:30am for a very good price as well. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Location was in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommend!

A very clean room for both of us. Breakfast was good. All the staff were very friendly, although we came almost midnight from the airport, the young lady at the front desk was very kind. We left in a hurry to catch the bus to Puerto Jimenez, my sister in law left her phone in the room. The owner drove to our taxi and caught us in time. Thank you very much for a wonderful service. We will be back there again in a week.

Going to CR by myself; the staff at Gardens House were awesome. They treated me and those I met that also stayed there very well. I will def return to this place when I come back.

It is an excellent Hostel to stay in if you are looking for a quiet location and tranquil hostel that has a lovely little garden to relax in before or after a long flight. It is NOT a party place and does not have a bar. It is reasonably close to the International Airport. The mattress and other items were basic but clean and comfortable. Only the TV in the room was not working well. The woman was kind enough to make me a scrambled egg and piece of toast in the morning, as I did not want to eat rice and beans before travelling on the bus.

I arrived at 3 am and the young lady answered my call quickly and came to let me in without any wait. Very polite and kind to be 3 am I’m sure she must’ve been sleeping.

One little thing is that my 4:45AM driver did not come, but arranged an Uber in 5 minutes to the airport, which resolved the issue for about $4

Very convenient and pleasant spot! I had an overnight stay between flights at SJO and Gardens House was ideal. Very friendly owners who served a good breakfast and organized transportation to the airport. Would go again!

Beautiful accommodation, there are many plants throughout the property and a lovely garden in the back to relax in and mingle with other travelers. I had the private room and it was a great room, very nice looking and clean. The hosts were fabulous as were the other travelers staying there. I am grateful I found this place! Thank you to the hosts who provided breakfast, tips, good conversation and a ride to the airport.

This is my first hostel stay (I always thought the worst for these places). I absolutely loved it here. The staff were so kind and welcoming. I had a private bed with a clean bathroom. They had a wonderful vegetarian breakfast and coffee. A beautiful relaxing patio ou back.
I highly recommend this place. I'm very impressed!
