The room was invested with cockroaches!! I told the frint desk and they gave me a can of Raid bug spray, but did not offer to do anything else, not even reduce the room rate.

The room were clearly not up to Wyndham standards. I assumed it was unfinished remodeling as noone mentioned the condition of the rooms until i checked out. I asked if management knew the rooms were subpar and that is when i was informed of contract issues and hurricane damage. Someone should have communicated with me sooner I was very upset of the lack of communication.

This place is a dump and poorly managed. The stairways are chained off (how can the fire dept allow that?).
No blankets.
Tiny double beds (not queens) with small pillows.
Fake hardwood floors that amplify every sound.
A ridiculous pre checkin prices that you completely repeat when you arrive.
Checkin at 4pm becomes a stampede with the line out the front door, again, what was the purpose of a pre-checkin f I must still wait in line? Chaos.

I arrived at 5:30pm on 12/7; told elevator was not working and only available rooms were on the 3rd floor. When I explained I had knee replacement in both knees along with open heart surgery last year they told me they had already worked at finding first floor rooms but none were available. They said they would help carry my luggage, which they very nicely did. I leave on cruise 12/8 which is why I booked hotel so close to port. My suitcase very heavy as is my 1 carry-on. I asked why customers were not notified & was told they don’t call them. I explained I booked thru hotels.com and they told me they didn’t notify them either.
The lobby was filled with 40+ bankers boxes stacked up. They said new owner was renovating hotel including new elevator. I was charged full amount-they didn’t offer discount for this unreal accommodation. Room offered couldn’t be opened with reg keys only master. They moved me to room next door. Initial room smelled moldy. Heat unit in new room unbelievably noisy-it’s cold outside. This hotel made me feel very uncomfortable and I was a little afraid to go out. I hadn’t eaten since a small breakfast but didn’t want to go up/down stairs so hid in room basically and ate the bag of chips, water they gave me and a cookie I had for dinner. Reception people and helper were very nice but this was an awful situation whether I’m partially disabled or not.

Room was dirty. Trim held up by tape. No comforter, only 1 sheet provided. Stains on sheets. Stairs unusable/broken. All the concrete was very slippery.
We made a noise complaint about guest outside yelling and staff took care of it in a timely manner.

The check in staff was very friendly. The hotel itself was definitely not the nicest. We stayed in 2020 and loved it. It’s gone way downhill. The beds were very comfy however we found a bed bug as well as a roach. One lamp shade was covered in mold. There was white powdered on the lower part of the walls. Guests were outside our door after 11pm yelling and smoking pot.
The room itself definitely shows it’s wear but wasn’t terribly minus the bugs. Won’t stay again.

checking-in the lobby was full of boxes that was blocking the front entrance. Now, our rooms one room had no blanks on the bed we had to get them from the front desk, the baseboards in the rooms either had no baseboards or they were laying on the floor. we had no room service again we had to go the front desk and get clean towels. One room the floors was dirty with sand and trash.

The staff was unfriendly. The hotel is in horrible condition. Baseboards are peeling away. The walls are cracked. The beds are uncomfortable. The pillows are old and well. We will not stay here again

The front desk help was very nice. Free breakfast was nice. Room left a lot to be desired. Lamps were rusty, baseboards being held up by tape, no one had cleaned behind the night table where there was visible garbage(empty water bottles) and dust. Bathtub area was not clean there were hairs stuck to the wall from the previous person. Bed was comfy. It was okay for a one night stay but I was disappointed that this hotel did not meet the standards of my previouse stays at other Wingate hotels

Hotel was in a right location but it was little disappointing. Room was not that clean. Looks like it has been not used for a long time and it was dusty. All people there were very friendly and helpful but the building itself was not as expected.

First of all was charged for parking and website made no mention of charge for parking also never paid for 45 min early ck in, although it was my choice to say yes I will pay for early ck in I have never paid for early ck in or parking as long as we have been going to Galveston MC ralley Light in bathroom sink went out, baseboard falling off the wall. Room smelled so bad like mold Pillows smelled bad We went to Walmart and bought our own sheets and pillows. I will never stay there again. Ladies upfront were super nice

The overall stay was OK. I did not like the fact that you had to pay $15 a day for parking and that there were no elevators. We stayed on the second floor and I had to use the stairs constantly for someone with bad knees that’s kind of hard. Also, when asked about the first floor, they said they were saving it for their older guest, which is understandable but they oughta but other people stay on the first floor also. The that checked in and all the others that I talked to, including the lady that was doing the breakfast and the housekeepers were all excellent and friendly. I would definitely give the staff a five star. Location was excellent right across the seawall. Would I stay there again? Maybe. I was disappointed in the fact that the beds weren’t very comfortable and the only covered they gave us for two beds was just basically like sheets didn’t have any comforter blanket or anything like
that.

This hotel was extremely dirty. I had to get my room switched because I was given a room that was not cleaned yet. Once I received a clean room it’s still dirty. For this to be beach front it’s a real embarrassment for the Wyndham brand. Everything had stains on it and the towels had roach heads. Just a dirty place. Sleep outside it’s cleaner

I was told one week prior to arriving for our stay that we would be given 15 minutes to check out our room and decide if we wanted to stay or not based on conditions. When calling to check on room and potentially cancel reservation, the lady stated the 15 minute policy was discontinued 2 weeks prior.
We did not stay at this property due to the poor looking conditions outside the hotel.

Rooms need repair! Paid a $15 parking fee that was unexpected when we arrived. Rude service desk people! Bed moist! Musky smell, hole it drywall. Did not trust taking stuff in the room! Roaches found! Found black mold! Do not recommend! Cancel reservation in January for this place because of this experience! Stay at it before and was okay, after this time, I will never book here again!

This is a terrible hotel. To be part of the Wyndham family this was a disgrace. The building is "under construction". They charge paying guests for parking!! The rooms were dirty and nasty with bugs. The bed was rock hard.

Location is the only thing going for this place! It was clean, but falling apart. The base boards in the room were held up with tape and some were falling off the walls. Plus they charge a $15 parking, we did not realize.

We stayed a night shortly after a hurricane had came through and the hotel had been received damage. One of the rooms had water coming up through thr floor. The staff were great and moved us to other rooms, and made sure that we were comfortable.

They charge $15 for parking, was not aware but we parked on the seawall for free in front of property. all trim feel off in room sonyou can see mold behind it, looks like a botched remodel job. changing the name of the property is definitely misleading.

This motel was in dire need of remodeling/updating/repair, to say the least! I understand they had extensive damage from the recent hurricane, however, there were more damaged areas of the motel, than repaired areas. My sisters and I only stayed one night, thankfully. We did not feel safe even with 4 of us there. The website needs to be updated to show the REAL appearance of this motel. I realize that the majority of the hotels in galveston only have 3 star ratings, however, this motel should have stayed closed until all repairs/updating/remodeling was finished. Half of the stairs and rails were blocked off with caution tape, causing everyone to use the one that was available. I also saw a lady traveling with her elderly mother, and helped them with their luggage because there is NO ELEVATOR, and they were having to walk 3 flights of stairs carrying their luggage which was ridiculous in my opinion and theirs! They apparently work on a first come/first served basis, so whoever gets there first gets the rooms on the first floor, and when filled, the second floor, etc. No consideration for elderly, handicapped patrons having to walk 3 flights of stairs WITH their luggage. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay here again! All that being said, I realize with the conditions of this motel, the employees and staff are NOT to blame. The staff was AWESOME, considering what they have to put up with working at this dump. I commend the cleaning staff as well for the clean room. Thank you!

Our stay was absolutely terrible. The hotel has no working elevators and put us on the third floor, the door wouldn’t work, the toilet overflowed, maintenance wasn’t in so I had to plunge the toilet myself after walking to the front desk since they wouldn’t answer the phone at 4am, and I saw bugs in my bed. I couldn’t even sleep. Never again will I stay here

This place was a huge let down for a Wingate. I was extremely disappointed. First of all, they charge $15 to park you car! And the parking lot is asphalt and full of pot holes. It's not even gated. Why am I paying for parking? To repave their parking lot? I don't think so.
Second, the only rooms available were on the 3rd floor and they do not have elevators! My 80 yr old mother and I were staying there before our cruise and she has had hip surgery. So to expect her to climb three flights of stairs is ridiculous. There are two stairwells on the back side of the hotel and the one closest to our room was blocked off with caution tape. The other set of stairs was very sketchy.
Mom made it to the top thankfully but when we got to the room, the key didn't work.
That was it for me, I called another hotel (The Tremont) and booked a room there for the night.
Don't stay here unless it's the last place available. I will say the two ladies at the front were awesome. I have no complaints about the staff. The place looked clean on the inside of the lobby, it didn't stink or anything. The front desk did run out of key cards and had to chase some down...maybe they were just short staffed.
Overall I expected a whole lot more from a Wyndham property.

Wouldn’t stay here. No elevator and as a super senior it was very hard to take suitcases up stairs. No soap or Kleenex in room. Very poor conditions.
