Good View on Port

The room smelt like feet out of boots after a 10-hour walk. The staff new unfriendly and not very helpful. I wouldn't touch this property with a barge pole from a mile away.

Relatively good hotel with friendly staff and a quiet location near the harbor and city center.. However, the restaurant was disappointing. We ordered asparagus (as one should do when visting Germany in early summer). It was so overcooked that it was difficult to cut. Would certainly have appreciated my Kiel visit (and the hotel) more if the dinner had been as good as earlier reviews suggested.

No air conditioning in a room over looking the water and hotter then I wanted to sleep in

Hotel room is old and no AC ! Must keep doors and windows open all day and night. Parking is expensive, double what others charge.

Great location, walking distance to the Kiellinie and direct bus to the main train station. Very nice and comfortable rooms. USB charging plugs are convenient! Breakfast had plenty of delicious options, including vegan and gluten free. Only minus: there is "conditioning shampoo" only, not shampoo and conditioner. I don't think that's the same and would prefer a separate conditioner

We're 2 international travel Journalists who revisited the town we lived at for many years and still remember the Hotel under Hansi Conti. Not much has changed, unfortunately we stayed there at a Hotel renovation stage. The lifts did not work and parking was a challenging effort due to the narrow car spaces and huge concrete pillars strewn throughout the underground parking area.

A short business trip

Very nice Hotel with big rooms and a very comfortable bed. Calm and quiet, right by the park - with a short stroll to the shops and restaurants. Would stay here again!

Clean and nice room with friendly staff. Close to shopping and restaurants. Easy car parking in hotel garage.

The hotel was not bad at all. The rooms where also nice. Though was it very annoying, that they insisted at check in, that the time had to be 3 pm. I can understand, that when I came the first time, at around 1:30, the rooms might not have been ready. (most other hotels, would make an effort to make a room ready, but not here) So I came again around 13 minutes before 3 pm, and was still told to wait. Another family came shortly after me and was also told to wait. And another couple. At that time, I think there could max be 5 minutes to 3 pm. I know it said check in after 3 pm, but I have never experienced a place to be so rigid about it. I would not consider this good guest service. I decided to join the hotel club, to get the 10 Euros, since I haven't paid for breakfast. With very small letters it said, that the 10 euros can not be used for breakfast. What nonsens is that? That is exactly, what one would like it for. I was told, I can only use it for drinks, like wine or cocktails. Who drinks wine and cocktails at 11 am, and right after breakfast? I don't. I also think, that it is a problem, that there only was 1 working elevator. there are 7 floors. I had written, that I prefer a room with bathtub, but at check in, I was told, that if I wanted that, I had to downgrade my reservation. And since it was already prepaid, I would just loose money. A lot of people still like tubs!

Good hotel with known good service of steigenberger. It is close to the old town but no noise at all, some rooms are renovated some not, we got an old one but still fine

Construction work pending, dirty room, some rooms are really nice but the rest ist lacking ... but the staff tried everything they could to make the stay pleasant (upgrade, long check-out, half price on parking). I would not use this hotel again as long as construction work is pending.

Great hotel overall, recommended

For a hotel in this class I would expect a room safe and a refrigerator in the room which I found disappointing. The room had no AC so we had to keep the windows open all night and could not fall sleep unit 2 am due to a loud party in the next building. The final indignity was being changed 50 E to park in there garage for 2 days. I will never stay there again

We love the hotel! This was my second stay there and we were more than happy.The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and spacious and of course very clean.Lovely views on to trees and green spaces.There were no more tea or coffee making facilities in our rooms, but we had some of our own English tea bags with us and my daughter obtained several times boiling water and fresh milk; at other times we enjoyed being served tea downstairs. The staff could not have been nicer and we loved the food, it was all very fresh, of high quality and beautifully prepared. Really a treat!

Large hotel in Kiel, short walk to downtown, and maybe 5-6 minutes by taxi from the train station. Efficient formal staff. Comfy large bed. Good sized work desk. About what you would expect for this type of hotel.

I stayed in this hotel while in Kiel for five days on a business trip. The hotel was clean and comfortable (at least given the German proclivity for bedding that is too short for people well over six feet tall). The staff was helpful and competent and could all speak English well. My schedule didnt permit me to have breakfast there often, but on the one day I did it was quite good -- especially with regard to the rolls, fruit, nad yogurt. The breakfast fee was a bit pricey, though. No air conditioning in the rooms, but it was not really needed. No screens on the windows, either, but that seems to be common to Northern Europe (if somewhat inexplicable). I had one meal in the hotel restaurant in the evening and while the service was very good the food was just above average. The location of the hotel in a park area was very useful in that it was extremely easy to navigate to it as I learned the area.
