Room was very dated & didn’t feel clean. There also was no water bottles for drinking & the water along with everything else in the room smelled like chlorine/bleach. The location is awesome at the north end of Wrightsville Beach, but other than that, I would not stay here again.

My stay was amazing, as usual. The weather was simply gorgeous each day for me to sit, watch, and listen to the waves wash to shore. Every October we stay at the Shell Island Resort because of easy access to the beach.

Everything was great. The only suggestion is the shower knob needs to be tightened. This was our first time at Shell Island Resort and it left a pretty good impression on us. We will be back and will request the same room. Thank you to Madison for finding us a room on the top floor. I called days in advance to make request and the person I spoke with did not place it in the notes. Madison worked her magic and it is greatly appreciated.

A lot of long hairs on the room floors and bathrooms, older furnishings, tub fixtures were pitted. Sheets( long hair on sheet also) and towels were not the greatest but serviceable. I had a few bug bites and not sure from where or when. There wasn’t anyone to help with bags. The ice machine was out of ice. The elevator walls were sketchy. On the other hand the room had a great view, it was a short watch to the beach and the pool area was clean and we were there only a couple days and had a good time.

The room was fine but the water coming out of the taps smell terrible, like sulfur. It tarnished silver necklaces

Horrible. The sofa was very old and sinking. Could not get out of it. The resort needs upgrades it is not even worth to stay there. Everything was old and dirty. The manger did not offer any accommodation except every room as privately owned. Not engaging. Did not care. Wow. If I could I need my money back.

One of our requirements was a wheelchair accessible room. We were first given a room that the wheelchair wouldn't even go through the bathroom door then we were given a room that you could get through doorways, but the bedroom was very tight for a wheelchair and the bathroom was not at all wheelchair accessible. On our checkout day we decided to go eat breakfast at the hotel. When we walked into the restaurant there were only two other tables that had customers. They told us to sit anywhere and then people started pouring in and the waitress was taking everyone else's orders before us. She finally came and took our drink orders and I asked her if she could give us menus and she took forever bringing us menus and then she took forever to come back and take our food orders and then after an hour we still had not got our food and we know people that she took orders after us was starting to get their food before us so we just got really upset and walked out.

Excellent if you want to be at the beach, it’s the last place up on Wrightsville Beach. The Resort needs work on maintaining the rooms. But staff was excellent ! All and all good .

Needed updates. Hot tub not working and did not let you know this before booking,, system was down so had to leave CC info written on paper very unsafe.

We love the Shell Island Resort! It's been our go-to destination for my birthday weekend the past few years. The oceanfront balconies all have beautiful views! The beach is walkable and wonderful. This year, I was thrilled that the hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of bubbly for my birthday! The staff is so friendly and thoughtful. Already looking forward to next year!

We love staying at the Shell Island Resort during our visits to UNCW. It’s the best feeling in the morning, walking into the living room area and looking out through those big beautiful windows and getting the best view of the ocean. Then moving to the balcony sipping your morning coffee and watching the waves roll in. The facility has everything you’ll need during your stay - the amenities are great! The staff is always helpful and caring. We love it here!

I was expecting a nicer room for the premier option...no stove was a bummer. Microwave light did not work. Hot tub jets weren't working. Overall, a nice place..nice staff. Enjoyed breakfast in the hotel and our short stay.

A bit rundown. Ice machines and hot tub not working. But the staff was very nice and helpful. Facilities were nice but generally not in the best shape.

Always a pleasure to stay at Shell Island, the beach is amazing and it’s so convenient to get there from our beautiful room! We found Shell Island when our son went to UNC-W and have stayed there a couple of times a year for about 9 years!

It is in a beautiful location. Dining room was closed when we wanted to eat usually. The hot tub which was great had broken jets. The indoor pool was cold. It looked better on the web. Lol....needs updated for the amount paid to stay there. Staff was super friendly and parking was fantastic. So a mixed experience

The hot tub was not working properly and was one of the reasons we selected this property. We liked the oceanfront views and beach access

Beautiful beach

The room was clean when we arrived and had a great view of the ocean. Staff members were very nice and polite. The variable hours and quality of the restaurant were a bit of a bummer. The room did not have blankets for the sofa bed and the front desk didn’t have any either.

Location is optimal. Great views of ocean. Spacious room.

For the price every thing was pretty good

I had a good time at the beach, but since we payed for a resort we were expecting a resort accommodation. Everything is old and outdated. We even had roaches in the bathroom of our room. Linens and towels had stains also. I asked for fresh ones and they were in the same conditions.

My 91 year old mom and I stayed for an overnight on the way back home to Michigan. We asked to move from the 5th floor to the 3rd and our front desk person, whose name I am deeply embarrassed to have forgotten (she told me she is also the assistant to the GM) was absolutely wonderful in accommodating us. She even personally came down to the room with a luggage cart to help us move. The building is a bit outdated, but the exceptional staff, great food and lovely surroundings make up for any lacks. It was an unforgettable stay. Shout out also to Frank & Christopher, our bell persons and Ashland who waited on us at the restaurant downstairs. I also saw the GM floating around the property and talking to guests instead of hiding in an office all day. Big plus there. Highly recommend this resort for those looking for comfort and service in a perfect location!

They dont clean your room nightly. Asked front desk about it and they said we have to requests a cleaning the day before. So we requested a cleaning for the next day, surprisingly nothing 🤔. We didnt have our room cleaned in 5 days. They didnt collect trash, asked what we where to do with the trash. They handed us a trash bag and said to pile the trash in the hallway

Due to the bugs in our room I gave a poor review. I did contact the front desk and they sent maintenance to spray but unfortunately that just brought them out more. The staff at the hotel was courteous and helpful but unfortunately I won’t be staying in this specific hotel again due to the roaches

The property is getting worn down. One of two sinks were clogged, one of two toilets was leaking across the floor (they fixed it the next day) the shower was nearly impossible to operate due to age. you can tell the whole place needs some updates. The staff were all very responsive and helpful. Excellent location and beautiful beach

Amazing quick trip with the kids. The place is always very welcoming and the staff are super nice. We will always come back.

The only thing that we were hoping you giyys would had, is an oven. Who need 2 refrigerators? The small one can be replaced with an oven. Everything, was perfect. Looking to coming back again.

Beautiful beach views but Old worn out hotel. Dirty drapes, dirty windows, water in faucets, tub, shower smelled weird. Couldn’t get sliding door open and had to call front desk 3 times. TV was messed up and had to have a guy fix that as well. Restaurant was closed both the days we stayed there. The Only reason I might ever consider this hotel again in the future is if it was totally renovated with new Management.
