Old rooms, the bathroom was so old and cramped, but comfy bed and lovely staff. Dinner wasn’t very good, though. Our food arrived still frozen.

The staff was very helpful. There was a coffee machine at the breakfast buffet producing some really odd liquids but the waiter was always ready to make a proper coffee for all of us at no oncost. Just one thing was annoying which is now becoming common - the A/C works also as central heating and as it was already cold it started heating at 4 am with such a noise that woke us up and its operation was so noisy that we had to turn it off till the morning.

A very beautiful setting just off the historical centre of Intra. Internal restaurant. Plenty of space to relax. Good breakfast. The Staff couldn’t please enough, they are so lovely. Recommended!

In Intra there are a lot of pointers "Il Chiostro", therefore, finding it in the city is easy. Near the hotel there is a small parking lot, but it is usually always busy. We left the car in another closed parking lot of the hotel, 100 meters away. The room was very cold. At night, we had to cover ourselves with a blanket, but still we froze. The breakfast is excellent with lots of cakes.

Nice hotel at the center of town, with pleasant amenities and efficient service.

I chose this hotel to be my base in a convenient part of Lago Maggiore. Transport connection in that part of Italy are somewhat strange (and most of them - completely unknown to every online tool starting from Google Maps and ending with Rome to Rio, but still the area is serviced by some public transport, and if you dont expect frequency and speed like in Germany or the UK, you can go from almost anywhere to almost everywhere - considering you have enough time and dont expect to visit more than 2-3 places per day.That said about the area, let me say also something about the hotel.Its easy to find, about 10 minutes walking from the port and the bus station, and even closer to Intras centre. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and good looking for a 3-star hotel. The check-out time is a little non-standard (10 am) but if you ask at the reception, they will most likely accept something like 11:30 (at least thats what I needed). Wifi is working and fast enough, air conditioning is extremely silent and also working well... The hotel definitely wont make you say wow, but its good enough so that you dont feel you made a compromise. I would stay there again, if Im traveling to the same place.

The hotel offered a very tranquil setting about 10 minutes walk from the shore of Lake Maggiore. The cloisters area was a lovely area for simply sitting reading. The hotel has a small chapel off the cloisters which was in use for a small service on Sunday morning. The staff were incredibly helpful, the room clean, comfortable and a good size. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with the usual continental fare ranging from cereal to boiled eggs, ham and cheese. We ate evening meal in the restaurant one evening but were close enough to the town centre to try different local restaurants each evening including O'Conors Irish Pup which had a great atmosphere. The gym wasn't particulary good with equipment being domestic type equipment as per a home gym and parking adjacent to the hotel was limited but there were plenty of free parking locations nearby. Overall we had a great stay and are happy to recommend Il Chiostro to anyone looking for a tranquil place to stay in the Verbania area.

Hotel good. Excellent location. Parked directly outside (no charge). Good choice buffet breakfast but had difficulty finding somewhere to sit as tables all assigned to members of coach parties. (2 in whilst we were there). Did not eat in hotel restaurant in evening as coach parties were dining in. Room had balcony with chairs & table which overlooked garden so we could sit out.

This was an ok hotel, but I wouldn't describe it as a hotel. It was originally a hospital, which then turned into a convent. There are a lot of older generation using this facility and a lot of students, who I guess live or stay there whilst they study in Italy. Staff are varied most are good a couple were very short with us.

Good location, easy walking distance to town centre and lake ferries. Easy driving to local area tourist towns and sites. Breakfast buffet OK. Hotel also offers half and full board if you want it.
