The friendliness of the staff in reception and their willingness to fulfill my request for a fridge, is exceptional.
The parking is inadequate.

First, I'll start by saying, I have NO ISSUES spending money...however; my concerns about the quality of the said goods/services I am paying for, must fit a certain standard. Victoria Hotel & Source Spa is NOT a place of quality worth consumers funds.
I am against "home-stays" in the South of England as things are basically subpar and out of date, however this particular weekend, it was the closest to meet up with friends for a "relaxing" weekend. This hotel was chosen because it's rated 4 stars. This is false advertising. It could be, however, falls extremely short to about a 2.7 and the only reason it could be on the verge of a 3 is because if you like the beach, it's across the street.
The rooms are small, outdated, dingy, needing a ton of paint, new carpets and probably see about getting doors to actually fit the frames so you can't play a game of Iimbo!
The audacity of the dress code requirements for dining and eating food that is drier than choking on cinnamon and only seasoned with Desperation and Regret is laughable. Literally... a tie to choke harder on dehydrated lamb I guess.
Not to mention, service was slow and the 2 nights before check in , we were called and told our spa day was cancelled and if we'd like to reschedule? Darling, that would have been the only saving grace for that building had we experienced but I'm confident in the statement that:
Unless you're pushing 105 years old, deaf, blind and taste buds of racoon, you will be depressed.

Had a fab time at this hotel . Great food and good casino entertainment . The band entertainment started too late so we did not stay around for it . The outdoor pool needed a cover or some way of keeping leaves out of it . Beautiful flowers at hotel

Fabulous staff.

Lovely outdoor pool. Water very warm. New spa facilities are very good but 30 min treatment definitely wasn't 30 minutes!

We love this hotel, used to stay here regularly when working in the area, however haven’t visited for many years as we now don’t live so far away however as part of a longer trip decided to revisit and was delighted the service and hospitality are as top notch as they were 30 years ago. Had a great feeling of grandeur and service which sadly is so lacking in many hotels. The room was miden with everything we needed, lovely comfy bed, nice bathroom with super over bath shower. We ate dinner in the White Room and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the local wine from the extensive wine list. Parking was easy which is important in Sidmouth. Great stop over and I’m sure we’ll be back again very soon for a overnight escape.

Rooms on the third floor are very hot (when sunny) with no air conditioning.
Luckily we were moved to a cooler room.
Apart from that a pleasant stay.

we went for a relaxing weekend… everything was perfect, would definitely be returning

Could not see where the value was in this room over recent travelodge stays, too hot had to keep fan on all night, bedside cabinets obstructed access to bed, overall disappointment and not value for the money. Standard double

The hotel itself was exceptional, old world charm with service to match. However, after a 4 hour drive and expecting a busy next day I was looking for a good night's sleep. It did not happen. The single room was like a bake-house. I checked the radiator was off - several times. I opened both windows for the night - to no avail. I couldn't cool the room down and subsequently did not sleep well at all. I did have a busy day next day, ending with another 4 hour drive home. Hopefully not all the hotel rooms are so naturally warm, so to give it the benefit of my doubt I may stay again.

Great weekend stay after a business meeting. Location very good

Had a weekend break here. Staff were friendly and very professional. Tables and soft furnishings were constantly being sprayed and wiped. Our room was spacious with a balcony and sea view. Slight downside - no air conditioning in the room and weather was warm, however the window and balcony door could be left open. The food was outstanding and as good as any top cruise food we’ve had. The rooms were not serviced during our stay due to COVID but this was not a problem. Service from the staff was excellent. The hotel is conveniently placed for walking to the esplanade and into town.

Great stay at the Victoria Hotel. Initially when booked for a 2 night stay we were advised that we would have to change to another room for the second night due to the hotel being full, but when we arrived they were able to keep us in the same room due to a cancellation. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Food and service were excellent.

A beutiful hotel. We had a very warm welcome from the front of house. The hotel was decorated so beautifully for Christmas felt very magical. We had a sea view room which was clean, spacious with welcome chocolates and fruit. Food in the evening was lovely and we enjoyed the nand in the evening. Would highly recommend.

Great location with short easy walk to the beach and town. Smart hotel with friendly staff. Our corner room was of a good size and we had a pretty good view of the sea. Plenty of hot water available. The Jubilee restaurant serves excellent food. Although I didn't use the pool, the area was clean and well lit. The resident quartet who played during dinner were very good and not too loud.

We had a wonderful experience staying for 4 nights in October. The staff were amazing; very polite, efficient and helpful. The food was divine, as were the beds! We had the spa and pool to ourselves in the evenings. More of a special treat, because it was quite expensive overall; but well worth the money!

A lovely old-fashioned hotel yet relaxed and unfussy also, quite a feat. A beautiful building in a gorgeous location with warm and helpful staff ensuring a superb hotel stay. The food at breakfast and dinner was faultless, my room was extremely comfortable and provided all I needed and the general areas were beautiful as well as well-designed. I sampled both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and they were terrific also. Wifi good.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel. However, we were most annoyed when we found out that we were ‘bed’ only.
Your charge was no different from the hotel charge for ‘bed omly’ So how on earth did you justify offering a stay at the
‘Victoria’. As it happened my husband was unwell and didn’t want dinner anyway, but I had expected the deal you offered us to have included at the very least a breakfast.
That will teach me to trust your company again.
I would be interested in your comments and in future when I want to go to the Victoria again I will book through them.Might as well, your charge and their
charge for bed only is the same.

This was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly. The cleanliness and quality of the hotel is definitely first class!!

It is a lovely hotel, fantastically located, beautifully furnished, very friendly and helpful staff. On the less positive side. It's a spa hotel with no fitness facilities or a steam room which I would expect to see. Formal dress code in main restaurant personally I find old-fashioned. I dress formally for work and thus prefer not to in my spare time. Fried breakfast is too expensive when a delightful cafe overlooking the beach is around 200 yards down the road does the same for 40% of the price.
That said, we had a lovely time.

Beautiful Edwardian building in its own grounds, with views of bay and town.wonderful lounge full of sofas and easy chairs or there's the sun lounge over looking the garden to the sea.

Hotel overpriced for what we received. They did not include breakfast . For 235 pounds the room was smaller then I thought it would be. The overall experience was moderate.

A return weekend getaway to the hotel where my wife said "yes" to my marriage proposal! Almost all things you'd expect from a 4* hotel, but they put us in room 101 and got woken up around 6am each morning by mechanical noise (extractors from kitchen or A/C?). Complained after 1st night and was assured it was a water pump that they could turn off, so they didn't offer us an alternative room. Other than that slip-up, staff very attentive. Just don't let them put you in room 101, which is on corner above all the service rooms/kitchen.
