Hotel Surf Olas Altas provided a solid experience. Would stay again!! The location is 10/10– right across from Zicatela beach, with a gorgeous and HUGE pool, the hotel is perfectly centered between restaurants, activities and nightlife. The only complaint is the very loud nightclub across the street that kept us up some nights, but if you can’t beat them, join them, so go check out Xcaanda and dance! Otherwise, there are dozens of quality restaurants and bars to choose from within a 5 minute walk. You can’t swim in the ocean right here, but taxis are cheap and fast to other swim beaches. My only complaint about this hotel regards the hotel room itself. A little paint could go a long way in updating the accommodations. Feels a tad dingy. The safe and hair dryer didn’t work. Not a huge deal. No deadbolt/second lock on the door made me a little uneasy. TV was small and staticky. Don’t depend on it. My balcony had a great view of the pool and ocean and the showers are awesome!! Air conditioning worked perfectly and was necessary. Staff was super nice, friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is pretty, arguably the nicest-looking in the vicinity. We spent little to no time in the room during the day, so it didn’t matter much that it felt outdated.

Nice rooms and pool, not many of the staff spoke english though.

Hotel muy limpio, sin embargo es muy elevado el precio para lo que ofrece, ya que las instalaciones son viejas al igual que la alberca y no incluye el desayuno como la mayoría de hoteles en la zona.

The hotel is a quiet and calm place to rest. The staff is composed of great people always smiling and ready to help. The room was always clean and overall, this is a great place to rest and to have great food in the restaurant.

What I like the most was walking distance restaurants and what I didn’t like was the bathroom smell.

The hotel needs a remodel. All facilities are in need of an overhaul. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything…I mean everything, even the loud music from the bar/club across the street. The ac in the room works fine, but way too loud. The room had an “old room smell” to it. Overall, too expensive for what it offers.

one bed had sheets that weren't clean, they did change them the next day balcony slider door didnt lock so i had to push the bed against it :-) staff was very friendly and helpful place is next to loud party clubs so get a room in the back if you want to sleep even then, a chair moving upstairs was quiet loud so the floors are thing pool area seemed nice breakfast was bland but cheap overall an older hotel with limited amenities but nice location. you're paying for the location. there are other places up the hill a bit that are nicer honestly

Super nice hotel right near the beach. There is a lot of noise in the area, but that is not the fault of the hotel. I did not like that when I checked in, they asked for my wrist and attached a plastic bracelet to it with no explanation. When I asked, it was explained that this is a tracking device that tells them when I am in the hotel and that I would need to wear it throughout my stay. Are you kidding me??? At least they were cooperative when I objected. The thing was cut off and I was instructed to “show” it when I entered the hotel. I noticed that all of the other guests were wearing this. Stop being so compliant, people!!

I liked the property but wifi kept cutting out. It would be nice to either have a fridge or ice machine

The hotel room was very comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and the whole complex looks out to the beach and the sunset. There is a restaurant on the road side with a bar. The only downsides were the poor TV reception and the wifi availability. It is better in the morning in the hotel and better all day in the restaurant than the hotel. The wifi difficulty is in much of Puerto Escondido though- not just this hotel.

Property is a little rough around the edges but it’s definitely worth the price given the location and amenities. Staff was great! Especially Nemo, who always seemed to be working and Jovanna. Very helpful staff. Would stay again.

Perfect location in the middle of shops and across the street from the beach. The hotel was very clean.

Hotel was clean, bed was comfortable. Shower was great with good water pressure. Location is fantastic. My only complaint is that the walls are so thin, you can hear the people’s conversation next door. Our neighbors had their TV on all night and we had to knock on the door. It felt like it was in our room. Other than that, great find.

Value for money! The hotel is comfortable and has everything you need. The only downside was that the towels looked dirty.

Hotel is a little outdated, however very close to Zicatela Beach...just a few steps from it!

The property looks great and well maintained from the outside. In fact, it’s one of the best looking hotels on the strip. However, the rooms are not well cleaned specially the bathrooms.

Decent hotel at a reasonable price. Only negitive was that they were very slow in cleaning the room and they missed cleaning one day.
