Can’t believe a Sheraton property is that bad.
Doors locks from the inside(had to get maintenance multiple times)
Rooms are outdated.
Manager don’t return requests to talk.
Only thing they worry about is the exercise on the pool
Area of the saunas are bad full of black mold
They painted over it to try to cover .
Wet sauna is really smelly
Don’t look like they change the jacuzzi water ever it also smells

Not doing any cleaning in room. I've ask for towels 3 time, and none of them they send any towels. The rooms are very old, and not clean. the bathroom is very old even in the Master King room. a hotel that stay in the 80's, very old. the swimming pool renovated last year is the only good thing in this hotel.

The furniture and appliance of this property was very old and inactive conditions. I was disappointed with the reception staff. Also, they allocated on first and second floor and I was not even told that I have reserve only on first and second floor, they were asking me for huge money difference to shift me on higher floors. They even wasted my few hours. The location of the property is very good, exterior look is also very good, morning breakfast staff was also friendly but reception staff were horrible. I do not recommend going there again.

My wife and I had reservations from March 19-21st at Wyndham Rio Barra. I paid 238.21 plus a fee for using the pool/beach.
The issue was with check-in. We arrived at the hotel at 1:30pm. We understood we were early. We did a precheck in and was told to return at 3pm and the room would be ready and we’d get the room keys. We go eat and return at 3:30pm.
We’re told by the front desk the room is not ready yet. We’re asked to sit in the lobby and the room would be ready in about 10 mins. I asked if there was another room they could put us in? The response was “we can’t put you in a different room. Naturally I’m a bit annoyed. So I asked if they would be discounting the room at all since it was not ready? They said a manager would need to approve that and they were unavailable for the next 30-40 mins. So we are asked again to sit and wait in the lobby. I asked the front desk to let the manager know I was not happy with the checkin process and wanted to them also to inquire about the discount.
Another 15-20 mins pass and I return again to ask about any update. The room was still not ready. Finally about 5 mins later were called over to the front desk and were given our keys. Over an hour had passed from the original checkin time of 3pm. I asked the staff what the manager said about discounting the room for the checkin inconveinence and here is what I was told the manager said…”checkin starts at 3pm and there was nothing they could do.”
Terrible mgmt. Stay elsewhere.

So, in a previous post about the towels…. That was true. They took the towels in cleaning and did not leave towels for us to use. Besides that, we completely enjoyed our stay and would return. I enjoyed my conversations with employees there, Alek at the front instantly eased our fears about the language barrier and was very helpful. Would love to Thank him again!

Where do I start…. We booked this trip for our honeymoon and though we had a great time together, this hotel was not good. The check in process started off horrible. We arrived very early and understood that early check in was not possible but when it was time to check in, the room still was not ready. We had to wait another 30 minutes for it and the room wasn’t even all that clean when we got in there.
The front desk staff did not want to deal with us at all because we were English speaking Americans and I found that very disrespectful. Understood there is a language barrier but most of them didn’t even try to communicate with us. They just passed us off to the 2 English speaking front desk staff they had. Sad. The people here in general were not all that nice either.
Concierge was good. Tokoni and Goodnews were extremely helpful as they were basically the only 2 that spoke perfect English there.
Back to the rooms…. Each morning, I woke up the foul smelling stench of sewer. Every time housekeeping came, it reset our door so we had to get a new key card each time (we stayed a week). The overall room needs to be updated. For this to be a “big name chain” hotel, it needs to do better. If o come back to Rio, I will definitely not be staying here. Don’t waste your time.

The Royal room was terrible! Mold across the ceilings, dirty bathrooms, nothing was functioning properly (bath faucets, light switches, door locks, sliding balcony door was stuck), stained couch, chair and walls, damaged doors, trims. The list goes on.... I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel.

At the time of check-in nobody told us that the Pool was under renovation, I talked to other guests and it was a surprise for them too. We had no hot water although we reported and they mentioned that the problem will be solved later on at night the next day still not fixed, when we returned from the beach still no hot water, at the end we had to leave the hotel before our check out which was the following day, it's none sense to pay a high price for an accommodation and not having all the services up and running. The second time we reported the hot water there were other guest complaining about other things too including the hot water.
The breakfast was on, the same every day, the quality was really poor on the hot items, the look of the eggs made you feel not wanting to eat them, the consistency was sloppy, the cheese bread were hard and cold the bakery quality was very poor too.

If you are planing to travel with your teenage son, take the father’s approval in writing otherwise won’t let you stay. I took me hrs to check is waiting for his approval do to the time difference. Poor internet, very old towels. English speaking very little. Daily breakfast, same aver simple day and not impressed.

The front desk staff were great. My room, 704, had an amazing view and a comfortable bed. The room had peeling baseboards, signs of water damage, no pictures on the walls, furniture that was so stained I didn't dare sit on it, and the area around the hotel was quite dead. I saw some black spots on the ceiling that I couldn't figure out what it was. I just kept the patio door open, which I had to use all my strength to force it open and to close it. They gave me two bath towels. I had to wait 2 days to get a hand towel. I always travel with towels for incidents like this. When housekeeping came on my 3rd day, all they did was make up the bed and give me 2 bath towels. The shampoo and soap dispenser were not filled. They were empty when I arrived. They didn't sweep the floors, clean the mirror or patio doors, and other basic cleaning. I paid the $15-$20 daily cab fare to Ipanema(?) and Copacabana for lively beach scenes, restaurants, and nightlife. Barra is not the place to be in Rio and this hotel definitely is not. Adding to the dead area around this hotel, they had the same boring breakfast items each day, and the hot items were cold. Breakfast included so many pastry choices but there was a good cappuccino machine. I expected so much more from the Wyndam name.

Property needs an update. Your towels are very worn out and old. We were not provided replacements either. We had no cold water in the room shower. In general the wood finish in the hallways and rooms has water damage. Also there was water damage in the ceiling of the room. In general not what I expected from a Wyndham property. Last year we stayed at your Guayaquil river location, compleately different experience.

O hotel possui boa estrutura, com tudo novo e ambientes espaçosos. O café da manhã é ok, mas não muito variado. O que decepcionou foram: demora extrema no check in, quarto Que era pra 03 pessoas, e que improvisaram mais uma cama de última hora (após sermos surpreendidos com apenas 01 cama de casal) e a cama era ruim e deixou minha colega com dor nas costas, toalhas (tinham que ter 03 e só tinham 02), solicitamos e até hoje não chegou a terceira toalha, e demora no atendimento do restaurante, fora que, nesse último quesito, além da demora, o atendimento foi ruim. Talvez o hotel não estivesse preparado para a quantidade de hóspedes que recebeu para o RIR, mas foram tantas falhas, que não tem como não mencionar.

The property is a bit far from the main strips. What was disappointing is that checkin took more than an hour. It seems that the check in should be more automated. They make a copy of your passport, everything at checkin seemed to take too long. The service is not great. People seemed tired and you always have to be asking. They are reactive not proactive. You are not helped when you enter a restaurant, or helped to be seated you have to ask for the bill constantly. It doesn’t make for an enjoyable atmosphere. A little customer service goes a long way. And the rooms are very dated, clean but dated.

The room was supposed to be a triple room for adults and it had two single beds and one sofa that was not a sofa bed. We had to sleep two adults on a bed/mattress that would fall to one or the other side of the bed. They only had one towel, a dirty one, and it took over an hour and after 4 attempts to call room service. On the other room, my Daughter and her Fiancee had MOLD/Mildew at the room and the bed was full of beach sand!!! When we asked to have the room changed they said no, sorry. We can't. When we asked for an extra pillow they said: Sorry there is none extra, The only good thing about the place was the location. Terrible experience. Never again.

This place had no hot water for two days; The staff only informed us of the lack of hot water after we had completed the checking process. They assured us that the issue would be resolved within two hours. We checked in on 7/9/21 and the hot water wasn't repaired until the morning of 7/11/21 when we were checking out. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite on the 11th floor. This is supposed to be the best suite in the hotel, but it did not appear as shown in pictures. The wifi was not working in the master-bedroom of this suite. They force you to wear wrist bands and sucurity has to clear you through every section of the hotel even to get breakfast. The breakfast was horrible. Keep in mind we paid $278 per night. I booked my reservation through expedia and im still in the process of requesting a full or partial refund. I travel to 12 countries a year, 1 every month and i have to say this has been the worst hotel experience i've ever had. I had better experiences in hotels in Uganda than I did at Wyndham Rio de Janeiro.

We booked one of the best 2 bedroom/2 bathroom ocean view/balcony and the room was lovely except a kettle, cutlery, plates and glasses would have been useful as we had a kitchenette with dining table and chairs.There were just 2 wine glasses, 2 cups and an ice bucket and that was it. The fridge was too small and there were small ants which lived next to the sink in the groutwork.
The breakfast was lacking and remained the same every day.
The hotel staff were very good.
The pool was a good size but had a lot of mosquitos around and in the toilet areas.
The taxi service outside the hotel was not good, we booked one trip and they took us to the wrong place, even though we showed it to them on google maps and it was only 10 mins away and a well know tourist attraction.
The taxi booked for the airport transfer was very good, via HotCoop.
The RioLine Tour, also advertised and booked via the Hotel, to Christ The Redeemer, was terrible.Our 4 hour trip took 7 1/2 hours with approx. 6 hours in a bus, 5 hrs of which were in a really old, non a/c badly driven mini bus with no suspension or seat belts.
The beach is good across the road apart from all the bits of rubbish in the sand. Reclining chairs and umbrellas only that are collected in at 5pm! Sun loungers would have been much better. There was no toilet on the beach.
The road is very busy and you can hear the traffic through the night if you have a front facing room.
The hotel shop is very good for health foods, water etc.
