The hotel is very well built, nice Nordic design, excellent cuisine (hotel restaurant is a gem!), staff very friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable and well furnished. As a plus, the property has a private access to the beach, which is very special. The area is very quiet and calm.

Umi Hotel was perfect. It was the perfect home base for our visit of the southern coast of Iceland. The hotel is beautiful, clean, the view epic, and the staff friendly! Will definitely be coming back to stay again without a question!

What a cool property. The hot pool was fabulous. The bar(while not always well staffed) had a view to die for. And the food was incredible

This place is a hidden gem outside of vik

The location is amazing, and the hotel is super beautiful. You can walk 10 min down to a black sand beach. The restaurant is incredible—one of the best meals we had in Iceland. The bar area is great as well. Everything was perfect except the shower didn’t drain well and was fixed after our shower, otherwise, it would have been perfect. As a bonus, there seems to be a house that loves hanging around all the time.

The hotel was lovely but the walls are thin and the family next to us was very loud! The surroundings are serene and the staff was very friendly.

Adorable family owned hotel! The staffed and food was great! The walking trail to the beach took about 15 minutes one way and was definitely worth the walk. Overall great hotel in Iceland. High recommend.

Wonderful location and fantastic food!

The room we got first stank awfully because of fresh painting/restoring? The guy from the hotel would not tell, but we got another room immediately. It seemed we came too early in the season (beg. May) and the rooms still showed some deficiencies. The light in the rooms and the hallways was extremely dark! Anything else was okay, the view and site superb! The rooms were clean and well equipped, dinner was interesting, good, breakfast also good.

We love the walk to the blacksand beach (20 mins anyway from the hotel). Everything was so pretty and peaceful! The food at the hotel restaurant was okay. We ordered the lamb, wasn’t the best we had compared with all other Icelandic restaurants.

Idyllic break!

We enjoyed our time here. We did find vegan options at the restaurant and breakfast. The staff alerted us that the northern lights were visible. It was breathtaking. We couldn’t believe how strong the aurora we saw was. Some of the other guests really played a role in our stay not being as pleasant as we had hoped. The rooms have no sound proofing. You can hear everything in the hallway. So many people were up early, shouting, children yelling + running. I am usually a heavy sleeper that can sleep through nonstop music and construction but this was something else. We would not stay here again due to the noise.

UMI hotel was by far the most magical stay during our trip. Sometimes pictures of a hotel don’t align in real-life, in this case the UMI hotel was actually better than pictured. The location is perfect for those seeing the south of Iceland. The hotel itself if only a 15 min walk to a quiet beach, and the neighbors horses are frequent visitors, which was a bonus for me. The hotel does wake up calls for the northern lights, and we got to experience them both nights of our stay (very end of October). Their dinner menu is is broad enough to keep you interested for multiple nights, they have a great breakfast spread which is included, and I love their little bar/lounge for an after dinner drink. The rooms are modern and clean and beds and pillows are very comfortable. And on top go all that a great staff. Overall wonderful experience and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We went to the UMI for a few nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. Staff was lovely and so nice upon our arrival. Our room was so clean and so pretty and overlooked the grass fields and could see the waves crashing onto the beach about 20 minutes away. We immediately (upon Jason's recommendation!) took a walk out to the beach. He said to wear appropriate shoes as it was very marshy. We had hiking poles and walked out there in about 20 minutes - never had an issue. We were the only people on the beach and it was amazing. So beautiful and peaceful.. Great place! Breakfast was very nice, happy hour was lovely, and my birthday dinner at their wonderful restaurant was both delicious and fun! They sang happy birthday! I highly recommend this hotel - we will DEFINITELY go there again on our next Iceland trip!

Nice property off the beaten track. Rooms were clean and setting was good. We even had wild horses roaming outside the restaurant during breakfast, which was a nice surprise!

Great hotel. Our first stop in Iceland and they made us feel very welcome. We had the beef in the restaurant and it was divine. Lovely stay overall and just round the corner from a beautiful waterfall that you can walk behind! Also a short walk from the black beaches. Thanks for a lovely stay!

We loved our stay at Umi. It was clean, the staff were always helpful and friendly, and the area the hotel is in is absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend staying here.

Awesome hotel. Very modern. It was very away from everything and very quiet. Laso wasn't too far away from the main attractions in the area.
