Questa è una meravigliosa, spaziosa e tradizionale casa al mare, costruita in un'epoca in cui anche le ricche famiglie di Edimburgo acquistarono una casa al mare per rinfrescarsi in quelle calde giornate estive.
Disposte su 3 piani, oltre a un soppalco, le ampie scale sono una caratteristica, in particolare la scala a chiocciola tra il primo e il secondo piano (nota; sono un po 'troppo larghe per le porte delle scale standard, quindi potrebbe non essere l'ideale per i giovani bambini). Il salotto è posizionato al primo piano, come era la norma per il tempo, con 3 grandi finestre che lasciano entrare la luce. Dall'ultimo piano ci sono viste su Arthur's Seat dalla parte anteriore e attraverso il Firth of Forth a Fife sul retro.
La casa è stata sottoposta a un ampio rinnovamento secondo uno standard molto elevato e vanta 4 camere da letto, un salotto, una sala da pranzo, una nuova cucina attrezzata, un bagno di famiglia con vasca idromassaggio, un WC su ogni piano, riscaldamento centralizzato a gas completo, sistema di acqua calda ad alta pressione, nuova cucina attrezzata, camera matrimoniale con bagno privato, decorazioni fresche in tutto, WiFi, TV via cavo, video e DVD, ferro e asse da stiro, asciugacapelli, lenzuola e asciugamani. Tutto il necessario in una casa con angolo cottura vicino a Edimburgo!

Wonderful location. Great house. Lots of restaurants cafes pubs bakeries. Even a kilt shop on High Street for my daughter’s wedding. Easy to get Ubers downtown. We’re from the U.S. and have raveled a lot, and found this to be as fun a location as many other places we’ve stayed. Thanks

The property is a wonderful home with all the facilities you need. Everything is comfortable and warm. It is in a lovely location with a 5 minute walk to a lovely beach and to the shops and restaurants, which are great for nice food and friendly service. Easy access to Edinburgh city only 15 minutes away.
The property manager communicates well with you and tells you all you need to know and manages your expectations.

I stayed here with a party of 7 people. It was perfect! More than enough space for this amount of people.
Taxis into the centre of Edinburgh took less than 15 minutes. The area of portobello itself is fabulous for cafes/brunch and the beach.
The host and his neighbour were great! Communication was amazing and the host was so attentive to any needs and questions we had.
Would stay here again 100% if I were to head back to Edinburgh. Thank you!

perfect base for visiting relatives in Scotland, excellent local eateries, great public transport and easy access on the roads to the borders and Aberdeenshire. Enjoyed beautiful Edinburgh again and were able to cook in the superbly equipped kitchen

Never rented a property before. I researched, settled on Vrbo, and decided on this rental property. I am so glad I did. We had the absolute best time and experience. The entire process from booking, communications, instructions for checking in, etc, very easy. The rental was very clean, private, fully equipped, there's several stores near by, and everything is within walking distance. Safe neighborhoods, great places to eat at, shop at, folks were friendly and engaging, and we felt secured and very welcomed. The beach and ocean, literally a block or two away. It was absolutely perfect!! Dress warm, the wind was chilly for even us experienced Alaskans. We LOVED our entire trip, staying at this rental property for sure, and would absolutely rent here again. I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Lovely girls weekend in very comfortable accommodation - for once we all had our own bedrooms! 2 1/2 bathrooms was great and steps from an amazing beach. Host and meet&greet super helpful throughout. We’ll be back!

Beautiful home that accommodated 7 adults nicely. Loved hearing the seagulls in the morning! Easy access to the beach & High St where buses got us to Edinburgh & other points easily. Our host Patrick responded quickly to our questions. We truly enjoyed our stay & hopefully will have an opportunity to return!

My American cousins and I had a wonderful 3 nights in Edinburgh, finishing off our road trip round Scotland. The house suited our needs perfectly and Rosalyn was lovely and very helpful. The only slightly down side was a rowdy party by some neighbours which spilled out onto the street quite late, but that was quite beyond anyone's control. Leaving milk in the fridge for us was a thoughtful touch.

We had a great stay, the location of the property is absolutely brilliant, with both the gorgeous beach and the lovely high street of independent shops of Portobello right on the doorstep.
We did, however, feel that the quality of the accommodation and the level of the furniture and fixtures did not live up to the premium price tag.
Overall I would still recommend this as a good place to stay, and a few small changes and improvements (which I will provide separately to the host) will potentially make it great!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this historic beach home in Portobello. We had wonderful weather during our stay. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. We had plenty of space for 5 adults and one teenager. We were in walking distance to the beach, public bus, grocery, restaurants and shopping.

The property is incredibly spacious, clean, and truly feels like a home away from home. Being just 2 minutes away from the beach was a huge plus for my family visiting from the States. We loved being able to walk to the beach and nearby pubs. Initially, parking was a bit of a hassle, but we quickly adapted and even started having fun with it - I actually miss the parking game! There are parking options in the neighboring streets and near the beach. Despite having three cars, we always managed to find parking, although sometimes it required a 5-10 minute walk, which was good exercise.
Patrick was extremely helpful and accommodating, allowing us to check in earlier, which was greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed pleasant conversations with Roslyn, our friendly next-door neighbor.
The Sonos sound system was fantastic, allowing us to play music while cooking and having a great time.
A big thank you to Patrick for making our stay absolutely awesome!

Came for the marathon, great location for transport, places to eat etc. House well equipped and comfortable. Lots of space to relax in the garden and the living room. Roz gave us a friendly welcome and we were very happy with our choice.

Great place but parking can be an issue since it's all street parking. We had a large van and it was difficult to find parking that could accommodate it.
Also, this house is several stories with many steps, so wouldn't be ideal for those with mobility issues.
Overall very pleased. There is a coop grocery story right around the corner, quite a few restaurants nearby, and the beach is a short walk away.

Lovely town home in Edinburgh, perfect for family of 6-8, 2 minute walk to beach promenade, 15 minute bus ride to Edinburgh city centre. Lovely neighborhood, highly recommend.

This is a great house, with everything you could need for a short or longer stay. Really great location between the beach and the high street. The house is well heated and the kitchen very well stocked. Everything was clean. Nice little back yard with seating. Definitely recommended.

Beautiful big house with plenty of room that was in a great position between the center of Portobello high street and the beach. We had no trouble with parking, although it can be tricky, but luckily I knew the area already. Roslyn was very welcoming and happy to give out plenty of local information. Patrick was also super helpful and responded really quickly to any messages we sent. The place was really clean and very homely, a real bonus to be dog friendly too, we'd happily return!

Very clean. Four good size bedrooms. Comfortable beds. Hotel style linen and towels. Every utensil you could wish for in the kitchen. Lots of plates, cups and glasses. The house is located in residential street with on street parking. We had no difficulties parking in the street. The beach was a 5 minute walk away as was the bus stop for buses into the city. The bus no 26 left every 10 minutes and took us straight to Princess Street. We paid by tap and go using credit cards. We had a very enjoyable stay and this property fully met our needs
