Good hotel in nice location, good staff who make you feel welcome. Good food at the bar and breakfast is very good.

Fantastic hotel and fantastic staff allways pleasant and helpful stay here every time we come and see family and bonus great train lines in to London so perfectly situated the bar area and rooms have been superbly updated can’t knock it like I say must of stayed here now 6/7 times and never had a bad experience

Friendly clean warm and good food

The people in the room next to me were very noisy. The walls are very thin and not soundproofed otherwise I enjoyed my stay. The receptionist was amazing.

Lovely dining room

I stayed in one of the refreshed bedrooms. Great comfy bed and pillows. Bar is nice and breakfast is lovely and great value.

Enjoyed a two night stay at Stifford Hall. Most staff were so friendly and helpful. I did feel slightly “in the way” as we were told we were not allowed to have dinner in the dining hall as it was being used by others.

Really good staff, plenty of parking. Good bar food and great breakfast. Clean room and looked recently refurbished, but window slightly breezy and aircon dripped water after it had been on for a while. Overall very good so will be back.

No complaints apart from the evening meal which we got a refund for.

Business stay. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast. My only complaint is that my room was right next to the housekeepers room and I was woken early by them getting ready

A good unexceptional place for a goods night’s sleep.

We were met by a very happy receptionist directed to our rooms which were ideal for our needs. Meal worked well, veggie light but good enough, decent sleep and breakfast buffet style Ideal for our beeds

The room was very warm even with the A/C on. Couldn’t fault it other than that.

Lovely staff made our stay. Location was perfect for us, staff were really friendly, helpful and kind. Breakfast was ok, good enough. Aircon in the room was not very good. We were too hot. Shower was great, room was clean and everything we needed. Good sockets, USB and good hairdryer. Food in the restaurant was ok.

Newly refurbished, still a few problems. Light on desk not working, no mirror for ladies to see when drying hair but told they were arriving that day. Difficult working the shower. Had to call for assistance so need instructions on the door of how’s to turn on and off and direct to overhead or hand held. Otherwise very satisfied with the hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A delicious breakfast. We have stayed there before and would so so again.

Area was lovely but rooms need updating. Bath was rusty around taps and tiles need new grouting.

Property Lovely grounds, a nice restaurant area, The room was a little dated however very clean and spacious. Be aware that you have to pay for parking, The staff was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. Food - well presented and lots of choice at breakfast. Negatives. Soup of the day, not the best. Value - Excellent. Got a great deal with Breakfast included. I would recommend and would defo stay again.

The only room with a wet room is a single. The “disabled “ rooms have a shower over a bath. The bath has two side handles. Our bedroom door could only open halfway because the door hit the front of the toilet. If you have any mobility problems do not use this hotel.

Reception very good /friendly . Room clean and tidy . Very strong smell of paint had to open both windows onto Laurel Bush’s . And left room for several hours . Bathroom had a water stain on ceiling. Sound of water pipes from flushing toilet upstairs. Box needs soundproofing . Also there is only one mirror in the bathroom with no plug for hairdryer . A mirror over desk would solve this . The restaurant food was not good . I had chicken which was so dry you could not cut it. I have never seen mushrooms that small and there were only a few . Waitress returned to kitchen and chef asked if I would rather have chicken poached , which I agreed to the food was less cooked mushrooms and tomatoes were better . Staff were helpful on the whole there was only one that was untidy with his shirt hanging out in the bar . Breakfast was one egg one hash brown and a very dried up half of a tomato. Know I know I asked for theses but was not expecting a large plate with one of each . I think the restaurant needs some work . On the whole the room was a re design problem . The front of house staff were brilliant, helpful,and friendly.

The stay was fine, the reports of vans being broken into less positive. A nervous night was spent after relocating vehicles. The hotel charges extra for parking and has anpr system (seemingly just to fine anyone forgetting to pay the three quid) would not return unless security is improved. A barrier would be a easy fix.

Overall the stay was good. Staff were nice, helpful and friendly. The room was nice and clean. The only problem that I had was, I ordered a pizza from room service that was marked up as being hand made with chicken, choretho and halepinos. The pizza that was delivered was an obvious one that you can buy cheaply from Tesco's. It had a stuffed crust filled with tomato sauce, that was not on the menu and no halepinos. It tasted way too sweet and wasn't spicey. I had 2 slices out of 8 only because I was hungry and I just couldn't manage anymore. It was way too sweet because of the amount of tomato sauce. If i was in the restaurant I would have complained and sent it back but because it was room service and I was tired from a busy day, I just didn't want the hassle of complaining to reception and maybe waiting for 20 minutes for a correct one. If indeed they had one.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times now it’s are go to hotel when down visiting family in south ockendon it’s perfectly situated to the motorway lakeside and railway stations this time we were pleasantly surprised that all the rooms are being re done also bar area the new rooms look great there comfortable clean and have everything you need can’t wait to visit again for the final finish also if you want warm welcoming and happy experience this hotel is a must the staff make it Allways a smiling face
