Villa Bellavista
Villa Bellavista
Location and Surrounding Area
Immersed in the serene Tuscan countryside, this magnificent property is ideally located to explore Tuscany’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. Situated in the heart of Chianti, just a few kilometers from the charming towns of Florence and Siena, Villa Bellavista represents the perfect location for day trips to the most beautiful towns in Tuscany and provides a unique opportunity to admire its iconic landscapes while soaking up the region’s incredibly rich historical and cultural heritage.
The vineyards in this picturesque part of Tuscany produce the grapes used in namesake Chianti and Chianti Classico, world-famous red wines. The Chianti region is a landscape where you will encounter historic olive groves, honey-colored stone farmhouses, dense forests, charming Romanesque churches, Renaissance villas and imposing stone castles built in the Middle Ages by Florentine and Sienese warlords. Chianti’s Northern area sits in the province of Florence and is a popular day trip from that city.
In less than one hour by car, you can reach the walled town of San Gimignano, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval villages. As you crest the nearby hills, the fourteen towers of the town rise up like a medieval Manhattan. Today, not even the plague would deter the swarms of summer day trippers, lured by a palpable sense of history and the enchanting rural setting. The historic center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and strolling through the streets will make you feel like you have stepped back in time.
In one hour by car, you can reach Florence, a treasure trove of art with an astonishing contemporary vibe. Beyond the extraordinary artistic heritage, a testimony to its centuries of civilization, the best way to enjoy Florence is to stroll along the riverside avenues at sunset, or to get lost among the city’s myriad alleyways of the bohemian Oltrarno or the narrow little streets of San Niccolò, where it feels like you have ended up in another time along its centuries-old walls.
In one hour by car, you can also reach the medieval town of Siena. Its ancient red brick buildings, the scallop-shaped main square Piazza del Campo and the Cathedral Square, dominated by the zebra-striped Duomo, make it an absolute must for anyone traveling to Tuscany. Effectively an open-air museum celebrating the Gothic, Siena boasts secular monuments that have retained both their medieval forms and their exceptional art collections, providing plenty to marvel at.
The property is also a few kilometers from Volterra, one of Tuscany’s most dramatic hilltop towns. Despite its many attractions, Volterra sees fewer tourists than other Tuscan towns, so you can expect to share its winding stone streets with locals and explore its ancient sites without crowds. Founded by the Etruscans and surrounded by medieval walls, Volterra has a notable historic center filled with fascinating Roman ruins, medieval buildings and alabaster workshops.
Villa Bellavista is 44 km from Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport, 90 km from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport and 308 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Greve in Chianti is 8 km, Vitigliano is 10 km, San Casciano in Val di Pesa is 18 km, Castellina in Chianti is 19 km, San Gimignano is 42 km, Florence is 42 km, Siena is 61 km, Volterra is 65 km, Arezzo is 80 km, Pisa is 95 km, Chianciano Terme is 131 km.
