The location is great and Matt is very responsive, the fridge broke and he brought a new one right away. The house does have some broken windows, the deck has a hole in it that is dangerous for dogs. Overall a great location and would stay again.

Overall we had a pleasant stay, but the house is set up a little strangely. The property manager was very responsive and addressed issues promptly.
Pros:
Plenty of parking.
Nice wide open kitchen.
Nice master bathroom.
Nice full deck.
Nice big washer and dryer.
Play room with ping pong table and other games.
Nice lawn to play on, after it was mowed.
Easy access to Bar Harbor and the park.
Cons:
No cupboard space to store food. Also had mice get into the food.
Master bedroom is open and has no door.
Traffic from road could be a little noisy.
Advertised wood stove, but was broken.
Cranks on half the windows did not work, preventing them from being used.
Downstairs bathroom is small and the 2 other bedrooms have to go downstairs to use it.

Was amazing, great location

We had a wonderful week here. As others have said, the home is larger than the photos give the impression of. We’re a family og 4 with two teenage boys and there was plenty pf space to hang out together in the living room or find space to be alone. I was able to do a work video call with everyone there. There is also a lot of space you can use in the garage if you bring bikes or kayaks and want to keep them inside. It’s about 10 minutes from the park entrance, maybe 15 into Bar Harbor, and 20-25 to Southwest Harbor so really right in the middle of everything.
The one thing I’d want future renters to know is that there are NO food staples in the home, including salt and cooking oil, so you probably want to bring those things if you plan to cook.
Highly recommend this place

This house was very conveniently located to both Bar harbor and acadia national park. We had a great stay.

An amazing house — the photos don't do it justice — and you truly can't beat the location! Such a close proximity to Acadia and all of the park attractions, we had a great time. One thing to note are the quiet hours, which are listed in the check in binder as after midnight but are now 10 p.m.

This unique home is in an awesome location -just a few minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia! The house was extremely clean and the owner was helpful and easy to communicate with! We love to stay in lots of different houses on Mount Desert Island and we are so happy to have added this one to our list!

We enjoyed staying in this unique home. The timber frame style home was really nice. We had plenty of room inside for the eight of us. We spent our evenings enjoying eating at the picnic table on the deck and playing yard
games in this quiet setting.
It was so convenient being only 10 minutes away from the park. We could go hiking in the morning, stop back at the house for lunch and head back to the park to kayak and take photos of the night sky.
Check in was simple and our host was pleasant to work with.
We would choose this property again.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house is central to all the hiking we had planned and it is very private. We spent a week with two teenaged boys and they were ecstatic that they each had their own room. One warning - the master suite is completely open over a balcony to the main living space. For us this wasn't problematic as we all went to bed at the same time so that we could get up early to hike each day, but if you are looking for privacy in that regard, you are not going to get it. The house is beautiful and feels like staying in a tree house! The window views are lovely and we loved the skylights and daylight coming in. The kitchen is very well stocked for 4 people. Lots of pots/pans/cooking utensils etc that we utilized as we cooked all our own food during our stay. We did a dishwasher load each day to make sure we had enough plates for everyone. The basement ping pong table was a nice bonus and we spent evenings playing ping pong down there quite a bit. Access to laundry was great - we utilized this a bunch as we packed light and did loads of laundry to get us through the week with our hiking clothing. The house was clean in all the obviously used areas, but there were some dust issues in harder to reach spots (wood beams, some corners, ceiling fans etc) which was a little bit of an issue for us with a dust allergy in the family, but with some allergy meds it wan't a huge deal. Just a warning if you have dust allergies - bring your meds! Overall though we loved or stay! The house was a great fit for us and we 100% would book this house again! Thank you!

The location of this house is excellent. It was close to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, stores and main roads to other destinations. The house should have been cleaner since they say they have a cleaning person come in after you leave. There was blonde dog hair all over the floor, many things had not been dusted in quite a while and the refrigerator shelves were dirty. This house is not the best for children: stairs (even from the kitchen to living room), open loft, a picture of a naked woman in the entrance way. You do have to walk through the master bedroom to access the upstairs bathroom. This was ok for us since we were all family. We did enjoy our week long stay here. With some work this could be a great vacation house.

We had a wonderful time at this house in Bar Harbor. The location was great, house was organized well, clean and comfortable. We had 5 adults and 2 dogs - the backyard is fully fenced in and big, which was great for the dogs to run around and play safely. The house is on a busy street, but its a short walk to some Friends of Acadia hiking trails (9 min walk). Waking up and having coffee on the deck every morning was a treat! Would definitely recommend staying here, and I hope to stay here again!

We had a great stay at the house. It’s in a fantastic location, minutes away from Acadia and Bar Harbor, and centrally located on the island. The house was a good place to rest after hiking, with plenty of light and space. We especially enjoyed eating and playing board games on the back porch.

We enjoyed our week in Acadia and our stay at this home. Location was perfect - a quiet country neighborhood centrally located on the island allowing for quick access to the Park Loop, Bar Harbor and the Quiet Side (where we spent most of our time). Big backyard that is fenced in which our dog enjoyed immensely! Garage was an added bonus for storing our bikes and paddleboards when not using.
As another reviewer stated, several of the window cranks on the Anderson windows are stripped, but that was the only functional issue we came across during the week. We had plenty of space to stretch out and relax both inside and outside. If you are looking to chill out (as much as doing all the other activities MDI offers) this place is great!
Thank you Edi and Matt for your hospitality!

The shame of this is that it wouldn't take much to really make the house great. Like a chair or two for the barren front deck. As you walk into the house, they have art that is not suitable for younger family members (my 10 year old son "well that's not appropriate). Most of the house is hardwood floors, which is nice, but they have no broom to sweep. Daylight is the key to this house...it is bright everywhere, which also means that you either need eye coverings or the desire to get up at 4:30 AM in the summer. Half the windows are broken and don't open (or more importantly, don't shut easily once opened). The kitchen doesn't have enough silverware to not have to do the dishes every night. The fridge's ice maker doesn't work, which would be fine if they had thrown in a bag of ice to get you started. The fridge door often doesn't close all the way which you need to keep an eye on. The downstairs bathroom showerhead is broken and doesn't work properly (although it does just kind of flows out in all directions). Be careful with the toilets. Both stopped up on us during our stay. We were there for two weeks and asked them to fix it, but they came and declared it usable. The back porch is really nice and we liked to sit out there, but unless you are just going to lay on the porch itself, there is no way to sunbathe (like the listing says). Some different chairs besides the wood patio chairs (for the table) would be nice. Also nice to utilize the back yard would be a fire pit! We had to do smores on the gas stove in the kitchen. Grill and kitchen stove are nice. They have a small cast iron pan which was awesome. A larger one and a liquid measuring cup would be great. They should advertise that their king bed is a tempur, which was wonderful for our stay. A few more blankets would be nice as the down comforter gets a little to hot, but we love to keep the windows open the whole time, so we found the blanket for the pullout couch and utilized those. That said...Acadia is awesome for the outdoors and we utilized the owner's business (kayak rentals) a few times. Service there was really friendly and the boating went well. As do all of the trails at your disposal in the park. I love to go run around Eagle Lake, which was a short ride from the house. Like I said, the house was good, just wish a few more touches could make it great (fire pit, deck chairs, fixing bathroom issues, ice...etc). Just little things.
