We recently stayed at this hotel, which used to be very nice, but now it is in need of a good remodel. The area is beautiful, and the building itself has great potential. The rooms and bathrooms need a lot of work, and the AC and heater require significant improvements. It's wonderful to hear that the hotel will be closing for renovations, as the property has so much to offer once it's refreshed.

The room had a private terrace which was very nice, and the room was appropriately decorated. The bed was too hard for me and the bathroom while large was dated. The staff was friendly.

Good sized room with a terrace. Easy walking distance to chateau d’Amboise and restaurants. Comfortable but in need of general renovation.

We found the staff was great, ice restaurant but the place was tired and unkept grounds. We learned the place is going to close in Jan 2025 for an 18 month renovation. I can only imagine how nice it will be when complete. The owner is a multi hotel owner and well experienced in offering excellent hotel experiences.

Le Choiseul was a beautiful place to stay with lots of charm and history. Their restaurant was wonderful and I recommend dinner there while staying at Le Choiseul. All of the employees were very gracious. My only two “complaints “ were that our room had no wifi (perhaps due the thick walls) and the shower hose could not be attached to anything so you always had to hold it. Otherwise I highly recommend the hotel and restaurant

The room was in the attic - where servants used to be - and decoratively very tired, stuffy and shabby furniture. Nowhere near the four stars it claimed to be or worth the four star price of the stay. Questions asked of reception seemed too much trouble not least a shrug when asked when the bar opened.

Good location, quirky property. In need of a little update here and there but slept well and the shower is ok. Didnt eat in the hotel but it was very quiet and. Room was a great size.

Bath tub hard to get in and out of. Needs grab bars. Drain very slow. A selection of pillow softness would be nice. I needed a softer pillow.

Property needs updating, garden not tended too. Room was large, quiet with quaint patio. Bathroom older.restsurant food was presented nicely but average.

The hotel is in a convenient place, and has onsite parking ( v useful in Amboise) and has a pool, BUT The decor and grounds are dated and desperately need updating. We had a basic room , which was not in the main building , and was up 2 steep staircases ( no lift) . the room was spmall with a small window - thus dark. There was beautiful oriental print wall covering, but old and tired deep maroon carpeting, v old tv, very old and ugly fridge cabinet etc. The bathroom has old-fashioned dark brown mock stone pattern tiling. There was no shower enclosure - just a shower handle mounted on the bathtubs. If you took a shower - the whole room was soaked making th smooth floor very slippery. The bath had been repainted in enamel paint which was peeling. There was a huge dead tree in front of the room with dead plants on the garden wall. The hand railings to the pool were rusty and stained. the concrete path to the room was cracked and stained. The front desk tried to hard sell us the expensive breakfast and dinner reservation. Summary - convenient , but needs TLC and renovation. Disappointing for the price.
