Let's just say I had booked a Xmas trip to Gambia to stay in the RIU hotel resort there, and I have just cancelled the hotel part of the trip, due to this experience staying here at DR's RIU hotel. - Rooms are outdated and need modernising. - Fridge stopped working, and all the ice defrosted leaving a massive pool of water in room. So had to change rooms. - Fridge made loud noises throughout the day and night. - No hot water to take showers in the evening. So had only cold showers in the evenings and you had to make sure you had a hot shower first thing in the morning, whilst "hot water was in the tank" 😡 - I wholeheartedly like tipping when the service is great, even in an all inclusive resort. BUT, being hassled with every mouthful of food, by their servers in the dinning rooms was a bit much! 😡 - This is a party hotel, and as such it's clientele are "loud, party people" If you want a classy experience in Punta Cana, this hotel is not it. I stayed at the Luxury "Serenade Suites" Hotel, which was so classy. Entertainment might not have been as good as the entertainment provided at the RIU but different strokes for different folks.

Update rooms, get proper cleaner for sheets etc, very moldy in ceiling and more inclusive music… not everything in spanish seeing how many people aren’t all hispanic background and better food rotation, some food items were very hard and crusty on buffet and hard

Amazing staff, property needs more lights on the 288 rooms by the beach. Its to dark. And defenely some more channel options more upgraded version or the option to add your own netflix account. Not everyone parties all day.also they defenely need a second club. Pacha is good however to small. And another store on the side of the property would help.

Liked: The location to the beach, pools, food choices, friendly staff. Dislikes: Staff didn't speak much English, the resort and room were outdated, no wash clothes in rooms, slow response from front desk to solve problems, not enough outlets in room to charge phone, watches, never stock in room fridge or liquor, chairs on balcony were tore, beach vendors didn't give prices and are too pushy, after check out waiting in lobby for ride to airport the lawn was being mowed blowing grass all over people waiting and then driving lawn mower through lobby.

Food here is terrible. Bar service is terrible. It’s a very fun and exciting atmosphere! Definitely good to come and party

This was the WORST resort I ever stayed at. I will never stay at a RIU resort again. There were roaches in the elevators. It smelled of sewer. The walls were filthy. I definitely felt like I was on a beachfront motel 6 and I definitely did not pay motel 6 money to stay there. They did not have any wash rags, when I asked for a wash rag they told us to cut a towel. The food was horrible and I know I shouldn’t have been eating it because I have been sick ever since I left there and was sick while I was there. Our refrigerator didn’t work, we called to have it fixed they sent someone out but they did not fix it. They never came by to ask if we wanted our rooms cleaned, new sheets, towels, nothing! The service was horrible! It took them at least 3 hours to bring us towels when we asked for more, you’re better off going down to get them yourself.

THIS IS PARTY RESORT ONLY. Do not come and expect basic amenities like ac, flushing toilets, water working, tv operating and finally expect the ceiling to be leaking. ITS FOR THE PARTY THATS IT. The Riu parties are great but pick a palace or something instead of this place. Pools are so full off piss you can’t see the bottom.

Was old and not beautiful

The property is beautiful. Many places to swim in and out of the action. The rooms are older and can use some repairs and updating.

Bathroom and shower were pretty dirty around faucets look like mold was no ice all ice machines on every floor we're off

The resort was excellent, and the staff were friendly without ever asking for tips. However, we encountered a downside when we saw cockroaches in the bathroom. During the ATV excursion, we were constantly approached by locals asking for money, and even after declining their services, they continued to insist. The local merchants were also quite aggressive in trying to sell us items from their shops. Next time, we'll probably skip the excursion and just stay at the resort.

Amazing experience!

The ac was broken in most rooms they never fixed it

This resort is a lot of fun if you’re looking to party! However, the resort is mostly party-focus. Overall I had a great time but I felt like the food could have been WAY better. The food was old and stale. Our room key also failed a few times and needed to be replaced. I definitely would still return but I’d be better prepared.

Not very accommodated towels were awful, room smell of smoke. Beach towel run out, and they smell when we do get them them the next day.

Light illumination requires improvement to prevent darkness at some areas especially the corridors of the rooms

Staff was rude and food was not good

It was very nice people very friendly, very good service. The only problem was the elevator was out for two days

Great staff--yuma, juan and alvin were the best. As a pescatarian, there wer plenty of options for me. There was a good variety of food. There should be an option for a top shelf drink package with a different color wristband. There should be a welcome cocktail. Check in staff was very friendly. Liza was so heloful. Downside My shower didn't drain properly and my tv didn't work.

Party life and entertainment was great here. The rooms weren’t very clean, the AC went out on our last night, we kept getting locked out of our room and the servers would prioritize those who they knew tipped extra well.

This property has so much potential but it’s good for partying

When I first arrived at the property I checked in and was escorted to my room. The shower was cold which was fixed that evening. There was a roach in my room I reported it to the front desk. I felt very uncomfortable sleeping at night. This property also should to take into consideration of other cultures that’s visiting I feel like there was a lot of Dominican music played which made me want to leave the parties. They should play all different kinds of music. I stayed 5 nites on day 2 I couldn’t wait to leave.

Variety of activy

Don't stay at this hotel! Bad service and attitude from the hotel personal, food is not tasty and reheated, rooms were smelly and not very clean, pool bars get out of ice and alcohol way before the closing time. Many people complaining with the management and at the lobby for the same reasons as us. Punta Cana is beautiful and will come back, just to a different hotel for sure!

The room was horrible the toilet wasn't operable I called the service desk numerous times no assistance the room has mildew and mold on walls and bottom of mattress. On a good note the dining staff was extremely helpful and friendly

Food in the buffet wasn't good, fruit wasn't sweet. Floors were always slippery, and the moldy/musty smell was horrible especially in the elevators. The restaurant staff were good, the jerk chicken grilled by the beach/pool area was fantastic (only bright spot about the food). the air conditioner in my room was inadequate. More could've been done to make the other RIU properties accessible (if they were, they didn't really get that info. out). Pool area/entertainment was cool. Property wasn't really picturesque. Fridges in room didn't really keep drinks cold. Kaori closed too early (9p), so I didn't get to rate their food. Pink pool party was way too overcrowded to enjoy.

Believe the negative reviews because they are true. No hot water for two days, rude front desk workers, TV does not work, broken glass on the ground, food was not good, guest touching food with hands, swim up pool is nasty and murky. It’s only good for partying. The bad out weighed the good.

Shower low pressure..

You should clean the pool bar area because it was smelling so bad. The pool was uncomfortable- really hot when the weather was really hot. You should fix the AC problem in the rooms and common areas (sports bar). We had to “tip” de guy from reception because he “gave us” a “better room”.

I like everything's. It's was awesome.
