Location and price. Large, spacious room.
surprise of fruit, muffins, granola bars and coffee in office.
Our room smelled bad. Carpet was damp, but not clean (turned my bare feet dark—eeew)
Found stuff under bed from previous guests— including used tissue— EEEEEWW!

This is my 4th stay at The Northern Queen. I continue to stay there because their chalets are large enough for my family and are pet friendly.
Since I've been there multiple times, I was already aware that the place is not very clean. I brought my own cleaner and disinfected the chalet. I wish I had brought a vacuum because there were old but shells all over the floor. On our second day, we had to buy blankets since there was only one thin blanket on the bed. The biggest issue was in the kitchen. The refrigerator door was broken so the food I stored did not stay very cold. The coffee machine was missing a pot and the inside was full of mold. I scrubbed it with bleach.... When cooking, I was thankful to have brought my own pan and paper plates because the dishes in the cabinets were covered in oil and old food.
I will most likely stay there again because of the location and ability to bring my dog, but my family considers it just a step above camping... Very dirty....

Television remote did not work correctly. Toilet was very small and shallow ... more of a child size than made for adults.

The room was filthy, the floors had not been swept or mopped, the carpet was sticky, and the couch had pizza crust, hot dog, food dirt, etc., under the cushion and behind the couch. the toilet rock back and forth. All the rooms under me and next to me were boarded up. It seems that some folks actually live here and not just travelers.

Love the layout of the property. Been here several times over the years, but has been slipping as of late. Hopefully management will turn it around to what it used to be.

We usually love staying in the cabins. It’s our getaway place.
The cabin we got this time was not very clean and needed maintenance. Lights burnt out in the bathroom, broken blow dryer, molding falling off in the kitchen area, glass broken out of the fireplace and pieces still on the floor. Screen was off the patio door and also was ripped. The giant cobweb near the fireplace was also a clue it hasn’t had a deep cleaning in a while.

At 10:50 pm the guest upstairs from me took a shower and the water very heavily leaked out of the ceiling fan/light poured out. Very loud. Woke up with quite a start. Afraid of mold and an electrical hazard. I believe they’re still booking the same rooms knowing of this problem.

I DIDN'T LIKE ANYTHING AFTER FINDING THE ROOM TO SMELL LIKE MOLD!
THE BED WAS BROKEN AND THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEAN, THE ROOM SMELLED LIKE MOLD, AND THERE WAS WATER ON THE FLOOR IN THE BATHROOM, DO NOT STAY HERE IT'S FLAT-OUT GROSS !!

We finally were given a cottage because there were no rooms with 2 queen beds.
We were told there were no rooms available even though we had booked in February for this April stay. They said that booking through third parties/booking services did not guarantee a room and that they deal with all their direct bookings first and don't even pay attention to those made by booking.com until the last minute when they are often unable to accommodate. We were traveling with my husbands elderly sister and my husband had recently had back surgery so as much as the cottage became our only choice, the pull out sofa bed was a far cry from a comfortable sleeping spot and the double bed not appropriate for one of us to share with my sister-in-law and a bit small for sharing with someone recovery from spine surgery.

We got upgraded to a Cabin from a King room.
We did not get a receipt when we checked in. When I asked the clerk why that was and she said there were "
incidentals " that might be included.
When we checked out I still was never shown the cost of our stay.Can Booking.com please confirm the cost of our stay ?
The kitchen had zero pans or pots to cook with. Not even paper plates and plastic cups. There was a newer BBQ on the deck if you brought coals.

We hadn’t been told there was a 24 hour staff member at the check in, this would have been helpful as we had a very noisy neighbour who was playing music in the night

Room seemed to have been an old apartment converted to a hotel room. People were living downstairs.....people were coming by, dropping things off....seemed a little rough..... not my idea of a relaxing place to stay.

our room didn’t have microwave. when I asked, they didn’t have one to replace. The door in the bathroom didn’t open ( if you aren’t careful, you could lock your self in), all the faucets were broken. everything looked very old and not taking care off.

booked online. we got there at 11:30pm and nobody was in the front office but there was a phone number posted on the window to call. I called and this guy came out from one of the rooms and said he couldn’t check us because their system was down. I showed him the booking.com confirmation and he said that’s a third party app sorry nothing I can do. so we luckily found another room close.

the staff was very unacceptable, the rooms were dirty, the carpet was dirty, outlets were broken, cheap, did not have good privacy curtains and a staff member entered our room without knocking in the morning. Very rude management and one of the worst hotels I have stayed in.

Location and grounds were wooded and a nice hiking trail on the old railway.
We had to cover the couch because of how brown stained it was. Smelled like dog urine. Pee splatter in corner of bathroom. Food stuck to walls. Towels and water bottles under the bed. Took photos up to check in. Front desk said they knew. Booking.com customers cant be helped with issues on site. Cabin , chalet, cottage are all the same identical size, layout and structure but different prices based on what they call it.
