Wonderful breakfast! Beautiful surroundings! Food in the pub delicious! German beer after a long strenuous walk a bonus.

Breakfast was lavish. We were there for hiking so did not use the pool, tennis court, game room etc. Good value if you intend to use the facilities, else overprices. Nice people.

Breakfast was great. Walking the surrounds out of the lodge along the roads was very interesting.

The kitchen table was sticky. It held things down.

Absolutely fantastic weekend away! Wonderful, friendly, helpful hosts and the location is spot on. We absolutely loved the facilities (tennis court, pool, bowling alley from 1908!). The food at the pub was fantastic and the breakfast was as good as all the reviews say it is!

SMFH is the perfect getaway. You get a delicious breakfast made by Ralph, the owner, served restaurant style by delightful wait staff and comfortable, clean and homey accommodations in an absolutely gorgeous setting. It’s great for just lounging around all day or for exploring the surrounding area. There are many hiking trails in close proximity or wonderful places to visit along the Hudson. I have stayed here several times in the past and plan to return.

This place is home away from home from the atmosphere to the staff to the quaint and quality details you find throughout. This is our second time here and will definitely be on our top favorites list every time we visit this area. Owner, Ralph, is super chill, flexible and kind and his staff emulates this persona. Location is great for heading into town, bike rides, or hikes. Better than a 5 star hotel with no character. Such a genuine and authentic aura all around. Absolutely love it here! :)

This place is home away from home. The atmosphere emits such a genuine and authentic aura. The owner, Ralph, is chill, flexible and friendly and his staff emit his persona. Close to hikes, bike rides, town and nice restaurants. Such a perfect place to hang your hat for a few days. Breakfast in the morning is delicious! This forest home boasts lots hard work spent up-keeping such a quaint and quiet place in the country with love. The bar down the street is fun (also the owner’s property)although, we didn’t have the opportunity to spend much time there. This place exceeds a 5 star hotel/motel with no character. This has been added to our favorites in this area as it has been our second time here and we will definitely be returning when our travels bring us here again. A wonderful place to stay! :)

Ralph, Daniella, Jacob and Nelson were all wonderful. Despite rainy weather my wife and I had a very nice time. Breakfast was awesome and dinner we had there one night was delish. Authentic German food and BEER!!! Hated to leave and will definitely be back!

We really loved this place and the surrounding area. It is perfect if you are looking for a place that is secluded, peaceful but at the same time equipped with great facilities, such as swimming pool, tennis court, breakfast (very good and filling!), big yard for relaxing, hanging out or reading. We really loved the swimming pool which was surrounded by grass (this is pretty uncommon, based on our experience, there is often cement surrounding swimming pools, while here there wasn't and we loved that!) with very comfortable lounge chairs. I will highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Catskills and we would definitely like to go back!
