There was no breakfast.
The pool water and facilities was too hot.
I did not receive my Kentucky Resident discount on my hotel room.
I wanted a room with no stairs.
All the above.

Good location and very private.
Living room furniture wasn’t comfortable.

Very good
Some building repairs
4.0 / 5.0
Indoor and outdoor pools were very good, but no kiddie pools were open. Need repairs to ladders. No lifeguards on duty. Beach was untended. No lifeguard. Unsafe. Outdoor activities are available throughout the park.
Room wings have no direct elevator service to dining room, lobby, and main entrance, gift shop, etc. only one small elevator in main building with no pool level or room level available. Limits wheelchair access. Must use outdoor ramp.
Sidewalks, stairs, and patio areas were not tended to remove debris on regular basis for walking safety.
Full restaurant menu service 7 days a week was not available. No restaurant on M or T. Breakfast when offered other days was a limited buffet— no menu. Had to drive to neighboring towns for most meals. Luckily there were some very good choices.
I realize a lot of renovations are in process but refrigerator and microwave is a must in every room if park facilities are going to command the room charge paid. Outdoor lighting to rooms and parking areas need improvements ASAP.
Wi-Fi was poor to not available most of our stay.

Love the location and the lodge. We have been visiting for several years!
The closure of the restaurant!!
No microwave or refrigerator in the room.

The cabin was larger than expected and we didn't realize there were 2 bathrooms. The pictures/ description didn't mention this.
The entire complex could use a good refresh. It's state run, so have low expectations.

The location was wonderful. Nice view and enjoyed the pool. The lodge dining room food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful.
It was outdated, the lodge needed to be updated and needed lots of maintenance. The room was dark and dingy. It seemed to be clean and the beds were comfortable. And it had a good hot shower. It could be a wonderful vacation destination if some money was put into renovations.

Loved the view from the room, restaurant & room
Price
Food was expensive
We wanted to relax in the pool.
It rained so literally I was out there maybe 10 minutes in the outdoor pool. They made me get out and the indoor pool was closed also and the hot tub was broke. Our whole visit.
I know they can’t control the weather but that’s a lot of money to sleep & watch TV

The view was beautiful!!! Excellent value from the dinner we had in the restaurant to the room. Bed was super comfy, nice linens and the pillows were great!
No elevator made getting our luggage to and from the room very difficult.

Great view. Updated room but no microwave or fridge. I did my research and planned ahead for that. We brought an ice cooler and foods that didn’t require heating. The grill at the marina is a great option when the lodge restaurant is closed. The pool was beautiful and clean. There are tons of recreational activities to do while visiting the property which makes it an even greater value. Be sure to bring mosquito repellant if you want to make use of your patio. It was very quaint when I visited during the week and I loved it!
No complaints. It was beautiful in a rustic way just like I remembered from my childhood.

Location was good, check-in was fast. They did not have my pet on record which I had specified in the reservation, but was no issue.
Breakfast buffet was weak, especially for $12.99. Opted for a better meal at a lesser price at Cracker Barrel.

Barkley Lake is beautiful
Room was dirty. Room was dark. Room had a smell. Heat didn't have a working thermostat - had to get up in the night and turn the heat on and off to regulate it. Rooms need to be renovated badly. Its sad to share Kentucky's beauty with a lodge that doesn't have full restaurant services, or clean rooms. Kentucky is not a hillbilly state and should be represented better than this.

Should have had a room that didn’t have so many steps to go up & down.

The breakfast was hot and fresh. Very good and our table had a beautiful view of the lake.
The room had a slight musty smell.

Love that it’s surrounded by the lake and nature.
I feel the building could use some renovations considering how old it is.

They weren’t serving food, which was not good, but because of that we went to an excellent place, Cadiz Family Restaurant.
It was perfect.

lake access
commodities like towels and toilet paper were hard to receive and rooms were not well insulated or sealed which kept the room hot during our summer stay
2.0 / 5.0
it was beautiful there, and with it being only a hour away from Nashville it was a quick trip to and from
the WiFi was down, beaches were closed, the hot tub was broken, my room was filthy and you could feel the springs through the mattress. when I addressed this with the staff they said yeah we know and there isn’t anything we can do not even Change my room to one that was clean or had a better bed. the closest place to eat was 25 minutes away unless you wanted diner food or a Waffle House style of eating.

It’s lake Barkley!!! Nature, woods, lake……
The food at the restaurant was very good at a very reasonable price.
Restaurant was closed to dining in. However, take out was ok.

Location is excellent. Price would be considered reasonable but for the lack of functioning amenities.
The facility is rustic and secluded which is a plus. But the lack of proper maintenance is glaringly obvious. The covid protocols have rendered all guest services near non-existent. Beautiful countryside, frustrating facility.

Beautiful location, the room was comfortable, clean, and had a relaxing lodge feel and view from the private deck was wonderful. It was a great place to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary.
The restaurant & indoor (& outdoor) pool was closed. Check-in was at 4- it was dark so quickly after that.

Location is great. Comfortable cottage overall. Beautiful environment.
First of all, our cottage had some minor misgivings: burnt out light bulbs, our ice maker didn't work which was inconvenient. Although a staff member was sent to fix but he couldn't. Said he will send someone the next day which he did not.

Location. That's about it.
No heat in room, spiders and cobwebs everywhere. Outdayed bathrooms, outdated carpet. Extremely pricey for what it was. Structures very ran down and jot well kept up
