Ótima localização e camas confortáveis. Tudo super limpo, banheiro muito bom e café da manhã bom.

Não entendi porque não tinham frutas locais no pequeno almoço, já que lá tem muita meloa, melancia e ananás.

Swimming pool and location were really nice.

Service was not always great, could not get any water besides bar-opening hours. Room did not have airconditioning and there was no plug for my charger beside the bed.

Very nice place in the center of Santa Maria. Rooms were nice and clean, and just some sockets could have more Bathrooms were clean.

They lock on my credit card 25 euros, I explained before arriving, that this should be shared before clients do the booking. They justify with others guests having damage this hostel However I should not pay for this. they said they were going unlock this deposit 7 days after my check out. this is not pleasant. Indeed I don´t understand an don´t like be treated as a boy. I respected their policy , but do not like this treatment.

Perfect location and great that there was a pool. The TV / lounge room was very comfortable.

The breakfast was not very diverse and a bit monotonous. In the dorm, it was only possible to open the window a tiny bit so it was a bit warm sometimes. Only 1 shower for 14 people in the room. There were other showers near the lounge room (with man and woman separate). You had to pay for the locker and it was not possible to use your own. Towels were at 5 euros. Anyway, the location is perfect and it is doable. Staying in a twin room (I did it one night), is more comfortable than the dorm.

Nicely located near the habour, a good option for staying at Santa Maria.

everything else. the hostel wasn’t ready for so many people so they didn’t have bread for everyone in their, when we were there there was a big storm so I told the guy in the reception that there were lots of water in the bathroom floor and he just ignore it. really don’t recommend it. the staff isn’t helpful and is expensive for the quality of the rooms and spaces.

Beds are okay but the top bunk is hard to climb and has no light. Swimming pool is nice.

Bad breakfast, too basic, cheapest bread on earth. The staff boy is not used to work. The place must be managed by someone who failed common sense in high school. Very expensive for what it has, not even a towel is provided.

Excellent hostel in the best place in Vila do Porto! Very clean, amazing friendly atmosphere, great WiFi, hot water, good breakfast. I love everything and will stay again on Santa Maria Island as well as on other islands!

This is the third time we have stayed. Great location, stunning views of Atlantic and marina, easy and short walking distance to centre of Vila do Porto and also on the bus route. (For an up to date timetable, visit the transport office opposite the Fossil Museum). The building has been simply but imaginatively renovated to also provide some twin rooms with private bathroom which, for a retired couple like us, is perfect but all the facilities are first rate. Good typical Portuguese breakfast. Clean and very comfortable throughout. Charming, helpful staff. And a swimming pool! The price is usually higher than you might expect for a Youth Hostel, but we took advantage of a Black Friday deal which halved the price. Nevertheless, it must rate as one of the best Youth Hostels around. Thoroughly recommend.

in the past there has been a well equipped communal kitchen available. We were a little,disappointed to find that it has not re-opened since COVID but it is no reason not to stay here as there are affordable cafés and restaurants close by.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect. The town was lovely with great supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. The hiking on the island amazing, recommended! The Youth Hostel was great, clean, friendly staff and good position.

The hostel is in city center, there are many options to eat, go shopping or be picked up for a tour. The room is comfortable and big enough for four. Good breakfast. Internet works fine everywhere in the hostel. There is a space with comfortable sofas and a TV to relax.

I decided that my stay at Santa Maria Island will be at the end of my stay in the Azores because, if I don’t feel like hiking or if the weather is not good, I can always relax at the pool! That pool looked so inviting on the pictures in the internet… Unluckily, when I arrived there I was told that the pool is closed!!! Because of maintenance issues… Could you imagine my disappointment? An employee at the reception told me that it is a rare occurrence that the pool is not available but it was the most important reason for me to choose my stay there. How should the hostel react? Every guest should receive an automatic discount of at least 30% on their stay or a coupon to use for meals in some nearby restaurants, and if somebody asked before arrival if the pool was available, he should receive a much higher discount. I would recommend that to every future guest, get in touch with the hostel, email address is [email protected], to find out if you will be allowed to use their pool. You can decide for yourself if you want to stay there or postpone your trip if the pool is not available. I would really appreciate the Azores Youth Hostels direction to react, also to my next comment… There is something special about Azores Youth Hostels that’s not taking place anywhere else and I would like it to change it here. I realized that the beds at the hostel are being remade by housekeeping ladies every single day!! I find it crazy that in a hostel somebody decides that it is necessary… Please, I want to apply to everybody, just say at check in that you don’t need your bed to be remade after the night, that just the regular cleaning, like sweeping floors and taking out thrash, is absolutely enough! People, it’s just a hostel and not a 5* hotel…

A hostel with swimming pool and you have the view of ocean, that’s amazing ! the working staff are so nice , so supportive , so helpful, so enthusiastic ! The breakfast is with many choices! Maybe I came in the end of hot season, I booked one bed but I have the entire room alone, that’s a really good deal ;)
