Poor ventilation in the bathroom. Check-in instructions were quite piecemeal and weren’t received in time. The speaker in the room randomly started playing music and then stopped. Insufficient towels in room and the quilt was itchy

I feel like I need to emphasise the amount of stairs. The rooms are on the third floor and the stairs are, in some places, quite steep. Carrying your luggage up three+ flights of stairs was a lot. We also did not have hot water. The door into our room was incredibly finicky and tricky to unlock with the key. Something not related to the room but still slightly important!! Getting to the location was confusing - there is a pedestrian passageway from outside of Riomaggiore station (to the right) straight to Via San Antonio road that we weren’t aware of, so don’t be like us and walk up the hill and down and up copious amount of stairs! It would have been helpful to have this clearly laid out before check-in as it was easy to miss depending on where you came out of the station.

The property was beautiful and the location was fantastic!

We were never able to get hot water during our stay. When we told the property manager she said that was impossible and we must be doing something wrong, but we’ve stayed in several other places throughout Italy and haven’t had an issue (the showers are exactly like in the U.S.) so I don’t think it was user error. The bed wasn’t extremely comfortable. If driving, keep in mind the only parking garage is quite a long, steep walk away. But walking anywhere in the town requires a climb, so this should not be prohibitive.

The only good thing was the location.

These are the reasons why we think this place was disappointing, considering how much we have paid for it: 1. Air con was super loud and very little cold air coming out. Night mode is not working it is equally noisy. In the end we had to turn it off at night in order to get some sleep. 2. Check in was really late room wasn’t ready until 4pm and we have to be out of the room by 10am the next day. 3. Beware of the steps that one room is slightly lower than the other my husband tripped on it a few times just one night we were there! 4. Room has barely anything only one folk, one spoon, one knife, two teaspoons and a glass. We paid for a family room with four people. 5. There is a kettle but no coffee or tea!

Room was clean, not too far to walk from the exit of the tunnel and had a reasonable view. It was nicely decorated and had enough space for us.

The host wouldn't send through instructions to check in before our arrival, which made things difficult as we didnt have an Italian SIM or international roaming. I explained this, but the host refused to send through details. In the end we had to ask for help from someone to provide a hotspot so the host could walk us through finding our own keys and getting into the room step by step when we arrived. The room itself was clean and mostly comfortable, though the pillows were awful and the shower made the entire bathroom wet. The air-conditioning was as loud as a train, so couldn't be on if we were in the room.
