Perfect quiet spot to stay while visiting family in the area.

Paul & Gina greeted us when we arrived, and Paul even went out of his way to help carry things down to the suite! The property was beautiful and the view from the living area was surreal! Also, we were able to enjoy the fire pit. There were kayaks & a canoe available for use as well. We were blessed beyond measure, and the colors were spectacular. Thank you Paul & Gina for blessing us with our stay at this beautiful space of heaven!! You both were very gracious and helpful we appreciate your hospitality...we are looking forward to booking from you again!

We spent a week at Paul and Gina's property and highly recommend the experience. We had to ask for a late check in and then ended up getting lost, despite great directions from our owners. They could have not been more gracious about the entire fiasco! The suite is exactly as described and was perfect for our vacation. While the owners live above, they were never intrusive and very conscious of our privacy. The gardens and yard are spacious and beautiful and you are right near the water to enjoy the cool breeze and waves. A very clean and well appointed property with the bonus of daily visits from Gina's dog, Jackson. We have been to Big Bay before and appreciate the remoteness and beauty of the area. We are sincerely grateful for the hospitality!

What an amazing stay!!!! The lake is beautiful and Gina was such a wonderful host! We enjoyed kayaking on the lake as well as exploring all sorts of surrounding areas. The outdoor space was incredible! We enjoyed sitting out there in the mornings and evenings. Usually during the day we were gone exploring. I can’t say enough about Gina our host. We spent a beautiful night with a fire and Gina and Paul. It did rain on us so we moved under the deck and had a great time. While they were totally unobtrusive, we so enjoyed our interactions and spending time with them! Will definitely stay here again if we ever venture back up to this area!!!!

This property is absolutely beautiful, 50 feet away from the lake. Suite was comfortable and had everything you would possibly need for your stay. Gina and Paul were very attentive (but not too attentive) and they were the perfect hosts. My mother is 85 and has some physical challenges and they went way above and beyond to help with anything we needed. I would absolutely love to stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Gina is a great host. The apartment is well equipped and very comfortable. I enjoyed my week very much.

We had the reviews about how comfortable it was to stay here, so our expectations were high, which often leads to disappointment. Needless to say, that didn't happen. There is something about being so close to the water, aided by such a comfortable and welcoming space, that just makes all your troubles disappear. The only problem with staying with Paul & Gina is the difficulty of leaving. It is a bit remote, but that probably adds to the peacefulness and did not prove a problem to us at all. We stopped in Marquette on our way in, went back for dinner and a symphony concert in the park the next night and then spent our last day soaking up the local color surrounding Anatomy of A Murder, and the real crime that was its basis. If you ask nicely at the Lumberjack Tavern, they will bring out the part of the bar that has the real bullet holes. Or at least they convinced us of that. For our first time in the UP, we could not have made a better selection.

The suite is large and clean. The location on the water is beautiful. Easy drive to/from Marquette. Owners are friendly and very accommodating.

Hosts were helpful without being intrusive. The local scenery and local hiking is beautiful. The kayaks were a nice addition, we used them a couple times. There’s only a tavern nearby for burgers, otherwise drive a half hour to dine out.

Great property and hosts— would highly recommend

This is the most beautiful property right on the lake! We had a vision of what we wanted for our Fourth Of July vacation and this exceeded it. So quiet and clean. Gina and Paul were the best hosts and we can't wait to return.

Great property

We loved our stay at this beautiful place. I spent a lot of time looking at the lake, which has many moods. The suite was very clean and comfortable and a perfect place to get some rest. Our hosts were very gracious and thoughtful and made us feel right at home. There were kayaks to borrow and a nice BBQ grill. We also enjoyed the outdoor patio for morning coffee and bird watching. We can’t wait to go back. If you have a chance to stay here— do it!

Great view, nice quiet location It is pretty remote, so try to pack as much of your necessities as possible

My wife and I spent the days leading up to New Years and New Years day here. It was very clean and very accommodating. I liked being able to walk out the back door and being able to ice fish just a couple hundred of yards from the house...and catch fish! Gina was a great host and checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend a stay here and we'll probably be back sometime ourselves!

Loved our stay at this rental. The accomodations were fantastic and the lake setting was beautiful. Rental is within less than 20 minutes to many hiking spots. Highly recommend. Clean and very comfortable

Had never been to the UP before. Chose this because it was centrally located. On a map. Not, however, on roads. Didn't matter. The accommodation was delightful, views were spectacular, and hosts very helpful. Host even suggested we not visit one area due to Covid outbreak.

We found this property to be well-maintained, clean and comfortable. The property owners were available but not intrusive. The setting is lovely, overlooking Independence Lake. Easy commute to hiking, sightseeing and dining. We would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to unwind and breath in the great outdoors.

Very lovely basement apartment right on the lake. Gina and Paul were very accommodating with requests for a boat and motor. Us being somewhat handicapped, Gina helped getting all of our stuff down to the apartment as you have to go down a grass hill to get to it. The suite itself is beautiful and nicely furnished - cool air conditioning. The only drawback was the restaurants and businesses in town - they are very independent as to when they are open. But if you like relaxing or hiking, this is a great area. Lake Independence is beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay immensely!!! Gina and Paul are such warm and welcoming people and made our stay as comfortable as it could be!! We are feeling so relaxed we don’t want to go back to the everyday grind! ;)

This was a perfect set-up for a couple to get away and kick back. The suite was clean, spacious, and comfortable, but the real attraction was the setting. Depending on the time of day and the weather, we sat by the lake, in the garden, or on the deck. We kayaked on the beautiful water, and enjoyed day trips driving, sightseeing, and hiking in the UP and Lake Superior. Best of all, we did not have to give up our gadgets, with wi-fi availability and great cell reception. Paul and Gina are outstanding hosts, going beyond expectations to make our stay ideal.
