What a great time we had at the cottage. The town is great and it was easily accessible to all adventurous activities in the south. The house had everything we needed. Would love to come back.

Das Ferienhaus war sehr sauber, toll ausgestattet und von den Besitzern liebevoll für unseren Aufenthalt vorbereitet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Die Kommunikation mit den Besitzern war per Mail und Telefon unkompliziert und alle Nachfragen wurden sofort beantwortet! Sehr nett! Auch von der Lage und der Umgebung waren wir begeistert, besser geht nicht!

Very clean, well entertained house in a quiet and peaceful surrounding. Only a powerline in front is a little disturbing. But the beauty of the house, the jaccuzi, the good setting for many excursions and the friendly owners compensate for that.

Beautiful cottage set overlooking amazing countryside views. Spotlessly clean. Very easy to relax here after hiking each day. Would love to return some day...

The location is convenient to many destinations, the hot tub is a welcome bonus, the amenities were well received - kitchen, washer/dryer, deck to enjoy the sunset. The property alone for its quiet ambience and beautiful views make me want to come back to Iceland! No question this is a five-star property. Thor was attentive to every email and most helpful with information. Marvelous!

We did the glacier walk and then enjoyed the falls on our way back to the house. It is also very close drives to Geysir, Gulfoss and Phillanger National Park! We really enjoyed being close to Selfoss for some nice restaurant options. Head about 30 minutes outside Selfoss to Fjorubordid Restaurant for a great dinner on the water. If you need ANYTHING at all the Prastalundur has you covered with a cute little market. Highly recommend this location! Enjoy your vacation in

Our family of three, husband, wife and adult daughter had been looking forward to our holiday in Iceland for many months, we wanted to visit the popular natural tourist attractions in the south-west of the country and made the decision, albeit with some anxiety, to stay well away from the city of Reykjavik and to opt for somewhere more remote. The owner of volcano cottage provided us with some good tips in advance of our trip and gave excellent comprensive directions to the fairly remote location - this helped us greatly as setting off in hire car into the great unknown - in a county like Iceland with its variable roads and wild landscapes can be quite daunting.The cottage itself was fabulous, extremely well provided, comfortable and in excellent condition. We quickly felt at home. The destinations which we visited; Westman Islands; Geyser; Gulfoss; Seljandfoss; Hveragerdi and it’s hot spring trail, Pingvellir and also Reykjavík were all comfortable driving distance from the cottage and did not disappoint. Despite this list of attractions we still had plenty of time of chilling out. If you are looking for a very comfortable opportunity to stay in a fairly remote location with magnificent views of open Icelandic countryside but still be within easy driving distance of world class natural attractions, Volcano cottage is a very good choice.

My family and I visited Iceland for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed this cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchenware so we could have many family meals at home. We loved winding down in the hot tub after sightseeing and hiking all day. The living room and beds rooms were cozy and the view to the mountains were beautiful. The owners definitely take pride in hospitality and were amazing with answering any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this cottage to anyone who is seeking a clean and beautiful cottage.

We loved Iceland! It’s the most beautiful place in the world! This home is so cozy, clean and well stocked! The best thing are the windows that give you an amazing view all day! The jacuzzi was so big and very well maintained. It was nice to get in after hiking all day. It was so nice to stay out of the city. It was the perfect location to be able to visit everything. We will definitely be back!

This was the second time in the house. We enjoyed it once again really much. Every thing was clean and lovely. The welcome was great because of the great soccer game of Iceland vs Argentina. Here in the house we feel like coming home - short travel to all the great nature spectacles. Short way to Eyrabakki Beach and Selfoss. Sitting in the hot water an enjoying outside the scenic is one of the top events every day. Thanks for this great place on earth

Would highly recommend for anyone to stay here. The cottage is perfect, with everything you could possibly need. The town of Selfoss is 20 minutes away for groceries and wine. A national park, geyser, Gulfoss falls, lava tubes and geothermal Park are all within a very straight forward 1 hours drive. And if you are up for driving a little further, there are some more amazing things to see down the south coast towards Vik. It was lovely to relax in the evenings at the cottage with a home cooked meal and glass of wine. There’s a hot tub so you can take in the stars and we even got a glimpse of the northern lights. Thor was kind enough to make us aware of a meteor shower on the night of our arrival, but unfortunately it was a little too cloudy. There are a couple of other cottages dotted around the area, but you have complete privacy here and it’s completely silent. Absolute bliss! Hope to return soon.

The cottage is breathtaking, I didn't meet Thor or his wife in person but wow what wonderful and helpful people, their home is amazing and will recommend this cottage to all friends and family, no matter what time of day Thor would respond and help! So clean and lovely it's unbelievable!! All appliances available and need for nothing in this well equipped cottage! Thank you so much for our stay and will definitely be back to lava cottage in the future! This made our honeymoon spectacular! Dean and Emma

Everything was perfect the quietness, the location to the hot spots, the equipment. The owners are very friendly and take care if there is any problem. All was included and the top of each day was to sit after a long day in the hot tub and enjoy the fantastic view.

We have stayed 4 nights at the cottage in March. It was just an AMAZING place. Right in the middle of a quiet nature, the house is roomy, very well equipped and very delighted. The big bonus being the hot tub which let us have a rest in perfect conditions admiring nothern lights after an hike day :) Moreover it's a wonderful place to discover the golden circle (and moreover) in a few days journey. Around 30min-1h to main places to see (Thingvellir, Geysir, Gulfoss, south waterfalls as Seljalandfoss or Skogafoss and more other). In short, if you are looking forward a charming house in a quiet nature, making a gift of a beautiful view each part of the day and being a starting point of you visiting day. Do not hesitate, blindy push on.

We stayed for 4 nights last week and loved it especially seeing the northern lights from the hot tub on our first night. Thor was extremely helpful when we had a couple of questions and sent his son round to help us with the tumble dryer. Very nice people and we will be back soon

The lodge is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The location allowed us to explore the Golden Circle, SW corner and South coast over 5 days although we wished we could have stayed longer. We were fortunate enough to be able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub one night which was unforgettable. 5 stars!

The cottage is well located for the Golden Circle - the Kerið volcanic crater, for example, is only six minutes' drive away. It was very warm and comfortable and had everything one could possibly want, including a hot tub that was heavily used during our stay, fast Internet access, dishwasher, etc., etc. Provisions and fuel were readily available in Selfoss, about 16 kilometres away. Thor was extremely helpful, and thankfully urged us to upgrade to a 4WD vehicle as it was winter. The weather changed mid-week, and without the extra grip journeys on the snow and ice would have been exciting but very short. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend it.
