Beautiful location, great historical setting.
The upstairs bar is not as convenient as it could be and a pro shop would be good. The current split between reception and golf concierge was a bit confusing.

It was a lovely room, very spacious and had wonderful views.
It was quite and peaceful, just what I was looking for after a stressful day at work.
You cannot arrive on foot, you need to be in a car or taxi.
It is a gated site & trying to get access was almost impossible, we got lucky as somebody was leaving as we arrived, otherwise I do not know how long we would have waited. Once you gain access there is a long driveway & even once you check in, there is a 3-5 minute walk to the actual accommodation - I was lucky with the weather - would have hated it in the rain.

Staff were excellent. They were prompt and proactive (eg. they spontaneously chased the taxi firm after ordering a taxi for us).
The setting is lovely, with beautiful views of Brocket Hall and its park and lake.
The room was spacious and the cooked main courses at breakfast were good.
At £195 for a double bed-and-breakfast, one expects top notch quality and hotel-standard facilities.
Although the website said breakfast was available 7-11am and the All Day menu was available 12-8pm, when we arrived we were told that last food orders in the evening were at 5.30pm and breakfast didn't start until 8.30am. Instead of having a nice evening meal cooked for us, we had to eat cold snacks out of packets in the room - which doesn't create a great atmosphere. There was also no fresh fruit choice at breakfast.
We were shocked that in the room the carpet was literally threadbare in places and the upholstery was seriously stained and worn to shreds. A little wear and tear is one thing, but this was a failure to refurbish when due, so far from top-notch. The original soft furnishings had obvously been very nice a long time ago.
Given the unique setting, £100 per night for double bed-and-breakfast for this standard would be about right, not £195. The website should also be corrected so that it does not give a misleading impression of catering available, especially as there are no alternatives within easy walking distance on an icy night.

The room was Beautiful, but the windows did not open and there was no ventilation, so was very stuffy. Also very hard to find the Lodge as there was no proper sign post especially after dark. The staff were very kind . I wouldn't stay again but if you like Golf it would be ideal.
The plumbing isn't great, and as I said previously very stuffy. I think the advert should recommend only as a golf lodge.

Beautiful location with gorgeous views across the lake and beyond. Stayed at Brockett Hall with my mum for her birthday, as this is where she was born when it was a maternity hospital during the second world war.
The room in Melbourne Lodge was lovely and spacious and nicely decorated with a huge bathroom.
Reception staff were brilliant. Friendly and very helpful.
The only unfortunate thing about this trip was that we were unable to go into the actual hall where my mum was born, as there was a film crew there. Very disappointed even though the reception team did try their best to see if this could be made possible.

Melbourne Lodge is in a lovely setting and the staff were all very helpful. The restaurant was very good. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were decorated nicely but everything is rather shabby and needs refreshing.
Melbourne Lodge is advertised as wheelchair accessible but we experienced difficulty with this, although the staff were very helpful and did all they could to remedy the problems (eg the ramp could not be found etc).
The carpet in one of the rooms was very badly stained and the rooms were very hot.

Location was fabulous. Room wonderful with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent and the grounds are just wonderful to walk around.
We stayed on a Tuesday evening so the main restaurant was closed. The only other restaurant on site was the golf club but strangely the kitchen closes at 6pm - we only arrived at that time so had missed the opportunity to dine there so had to find somewhere outside of the hotel grounds which was disappointing. Same with the bar - it closed at 8pm so although we absolutely loved it - just consider what is important to you before booking depending on what day of the week it is.
