Overall we (family of four + a dog) had a good stay here. The owner met us when we arrived and she was very nice. The location is great; close to a couple of good breweries and good food and a pretty easy drive into Asheville. Also 15-30 minutes to decent trails and waterfalls. The fenced in yard was great for the pup and the space is comfortable enough. The only thing we really didn't like was that we know someone was in the apartment while we were gone; a sweatshirt was left on the couch and the tv was on a different channel than when we left. No concerns beyond that, but that made us a bit uncomfortable.

When we arrived, everything looked great. The owner came immediately and introduced herself to us. She explained the area and was very kind. Once we started unpacking, we were a little shocked at some of the things we found. The hot tub was full of hair clumps and debris. There were used panties laying outside the hot tub. We weren't able to use the firepit at all, as it had been piled full (a mountain) of green briars. Once back inside for the night, I went to prepare dinner, I found black olives and debris in the sink drain and moldy coffee grounds in the coffee filter. Then, I went to dry the hot tub towels, so we could reuse them, I found unfinished laundry in both the washer and the dryer. I have pictures of all of this to prove this is exactly how I found the property and would be glad to submit them. On the last day of our stay, my son pooped in the toilet and it wouldn't flush. Owner had a plumber come out and found a toilet paper roll flushed down the toilet. She tried to get us to pay for the plumber, even though the only roll of toilet paper we touched was still in the bathroom and wasn't empty. She was extremely rude and was adamant that we leave at 9am on the date of check-out when our reservation wasn't up until 11am.

Stayed for 3 nights to check out State parks in the area. Visited Table Rock, DuPont, and Chimney Rock. All were beautiful and had great trails to hike with our Labradoodle.
The apartment was a great location and very quiet. The yard was like a giant garden (even in February) and totally fenced in, making it perfect for our dog.
We enjoyed the hot tub each evening after a day of hiking. The apartment itself was very comfortable and met all our needs.

Kathy continues to deliver on cleanliness and ease of stay! We’ve stayed at this location multiple times now. You can go anywhere or do anything from here. I don’t know what brings us back the most: awesome property owner, the location, the fire pit, the hot-tub, the awesome king bed (so comfortable!), the fact that we can bring our Boykin spaniel, or the Amazing Pizza Company (yes, it’s actually called that!) and brewing companies just down the road (literally).
This is our home away from home in Mills River. Period.

Very comfy- especially whilst traveling with the dog. The bed in the bedroom we used was very comfortable (back bedroom with 2 windows). The kitchen well equipped and bathroom nice sized. It was lovely to have yard access and was very quiet and easy to get to.

This is the THIRD time I have stayed with Kathy at her charming apartment. She is, by far, the most attentive hostess I have ever experienced!
Kathy has made some awesome upgrades since my last stay here. She added an awesome HOT TUB, added an awesome stainless steel (extra deep) sink in the kitchen, got a new refrigerator with icemaker and water dispenser, and improved the fire pit area.
I continue to love this location because it allows me to access Brevard, all the breweries in Mills River, and Asheville in very “doable drives” (esp nice at night).
It’s just EASY EASY EASY and such a relaxing stay. If you want all the relaxation, smells, and “feels” of the mountains (and don’t mind not having or paying for a view), this is the house for you!
Also, the king bed sleeps like a dream (I’m sure the others do too…but in three stays I’ve only been on the king and won’t give it up now)!

We wanted to explore Asheville and Hendersonville while having plenty of room for our family of 5 and found Kathy's property in Mills River. It has ease of access to the main roads.
Our 2 year old toddler with motor skill delays and sensory issues was happy playing inside and outside the property as it is very spacious. The main room had lots of space for her travel bed and our older boys each had their own room.
The decor is classical and gives a cozy feeling with solid wood furniture throughout.
The bathroom has a large shower with a seat. Kathy provided towels, toilet paper, hair products, hair dryer...
The kitchen is nice and open with modern appliances, a very large sink and anything you might need if cooking for your family.
It is a basement property with french doors looking out to Kathy's beautifully maintained garden! Remember you are in the mountains and you will encounter some spiders, ants, mosquitoes...
A filter machine is set up inside and you have AC/heat for any type of weather change.
There are dogs on the property that are separated by a fence, and are always happy to greet people.
Kathy was available in person and by text always happy to give recommendations of places to explore.
There is a Bold Rock Cidery 3 minutes away with excellent food. The grocery store is also very close as well as a very large playground surrounded by farmland for amazing sunsets.
The street is quiet and walkable. Kathy has great parking right on the property.

Great location and stay
We really enjoyed our short stay at Kathryn’s little apartment. The location was wonderful right in the heart of Mills River not far from both the interstate and all of the great hiking areas nearby at Dupont in Pisgah. Everything was very clean and the apartment was really well stocked with all of the necessary kitchen supplies for a great stay. The beautiful garden area with fire pit and chairs was a great touch

Girls weekend part 2
This was the second time our girl group stayed at Ms Kathy’s place in Mills River! We LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Fire pit at night. Clean. User friendly entry/exit. She has the most comfortable KING BED EVER! She even brought down an ironing board (she doesn’t iron though😉). But we love staying here and already booked our Spring trip!

A wonderful stay. Perfect for our dog, too!
We came for vacation and also to visit my son nearby in college. It was a perfect place for bringing out dog! Mills River is a great location to visit Hendersonville, Asheville, and the surrounding areas for hiking, shopping and eating out. Two breweries are in walking distance: the Mills River Brewing Company has great food & beer, offers live music, and is very dog friendly. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Kathy was a welcoming host and helpful when we needed.
* My only caveat is that I had searched for "whole house" when looking for a place. It was only later that I fully realized that this rental was a self-contained lower level apartment of the home of the owner. It worked out okay. Second, the house is located in a neighborhood surrounded by busy state highways. In order to take long walks, we had to get in the car and drive. Again, something I didn't investigate more deeply on a map. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend to others.

A Perfect Place — especially if you have dogs!
The location is FABULOUS! So easy to get to Asheville, Hendersonville, and Flat Rock for breweries, shops, restaurants, etc. The back yard is VERY secure for your dogs and it’s beautiful and private. We lit the fire pit several nights and had wonderful conversations. Highly recommend. 5 stars to the host!!

Perfect house for the perfect trip
A group of friends and I stayed at this house on a recent mountain biking trip to Pisgah. Beyond being centrally located to the bike trails, the house was a stone's throw away from wonderful food and drink (Conosur & Mills River Brewing). The proprietor of the house was kind, helpful, and supportive ("feel free to store you [dirty] bikes inside of the house"). We could not have been happier with the accommodations. Highly recommend!

Girls weekend/Too much fun!
Well, I cannot say enough about the graciousness of our property hostess, Kathy! From start to finish she made sure our every need was met. The beds were wonderfully comfortable! The property was super clean and “as advertised” from the pictures. Our girls group spent a bunch of time outside on the patio and enjoy the fire pit at night.
My favorite thing about this place (and the reason why I will continue to go back) is how close it was to both Asheville and Brevard. Nothing was too far away… And we were right on top of all of the Mills River breweries which provided for excellent entertainment at night and an easy crawl home.

Wonderful place to stay!
I was planning a girls' weekend to Biltmore with four other friends and found this on Air BnB. It was a great location! It was spacious, comfortable, and attractively decorated. Kathy was a wonderful host who thought of everything. She also gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant where the dinner was delicious. I highly recommend Kathy and her Mills River apartment.

Enjoyable stay & great host
We really enjoyed our stay in Mills River. This basement apartment is well appointed. We had one all-day rainy day so we really appreciated the oversize TV to binge watch Netflix. We used the firepit on 2 separate occasions. As others noted, the host, Kathy, is responsive. She also nicely collected my Blue Apron box and refrigerated it for us! Some others called out the bird feeders - we loved this too! Tons of blue jays! I really liked that the Ingles was so nearby and the Ace Hardware (for firewood).
