Good food friendly servers
It would be better if there was no carpet in the room
It would keep cleaner.

love the skylight and property location
no Wi-Fi and barely any mobile data access.

The room was pretty good size, had a cute little deck with 2 chairs.
I would have liked a hot tub.

Close to where we needed to be the next day.

Good location with walks right from the door. Also included passes to 2 other state parks which was useful. Decent sized, comfortable room.
It was cold when we were there and the heater didn’t work-we told reception but it didn’t get fixed. It’s pretty expensive for the standard of the accommodation.

Location was fantastic surrounded by redwood trees. Lovely swimming pool just what was needed after a hike.
Our room was very dark and the veranda opened into the woods so was too shaded to be able to sit out. Other rooms were further way from the trees and would have been lovey to sit outside but thats just luck of the draw. If we had been staying more than 1 night I might have ask for a different room.
I felt it was expensive for what we actually got but they do have a lot of ground to upkeep.

The park is spectacular. The cabin was very comfortable. The food was dismal and the service unfriendly. We couldn't even get a decent cup of coffee. Beautiful location but not great value for money.
The food and the service. Also, Pfeiffer Beach was closed as were some of the trails.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Genuinely kind, helpful and friendly.
Nothing we didn't like. The room construction and furnishings are rustic, e.g. floor is noticeably uneven. That was in no way a problem for us, but put in context of $325/night.

Good access to walks, great gift shop, loved being able to hang out by the pool and so serence and peaceful. i also enjoyed not having wifi and tv, great chance to log off.
The room had a terrible smell of bonfire and needed to be aired out, I got headaches from the smell it was so bad. Beds were also hard and there was no complimentary tea, coffee or a jug, for the price I would of expected that. Front of house was also not the friendliest.

Cleanliness. Location

The location was excellent, bang in the middle of a forest/state park. The room was spacious and well laid out. The bathroom was a little tiny, but it was very clean. The restaurant on the premises served very good food and drinks. It was lovely to have a fireplace at the reception, where you could sit with food or wine, or just chill by the fireside. I loved the games kept in the rooms, we spent a lot of time bonding as a family while playing. Would go back in a heartbeat.
The skylight just above the bed meant we could not sleep in!

Nice balcony over the forest
No internet, no TV. people don’t answer messages when you ask about the re-opening of highway 1. for check in, no “good afternoon m” or welcoming. only “ID and credit card” not even please ! very rude, impolite and very bad education

amazing staff and the location was perfect! We did the Valley View hike right near our lodge!
only thing for me was the bed was too firm but just my preference!

The location is gorgeous, one of the most beautiful places in the US. Rooms are steps away from hiking trails. Redwoods surround the cabins.
We have no complaints.

Rooms were really nice and clean, balcony was a nice bonus. No TV but there are coffee and tea making facilities. Parking is included. Bathroom was nice too. There is an ironing board and a fridge in the rooms.
Check-in experience was not great. No one explained that the rooms are not near the lodge, so we took all of our suitcases out of the car only to have to put them in again (no apology or heads up was given, and we'd have been grateful to know that in advance.) The lodge stays open until 9pm but the restaurant closes at 7/8pm. The walls between the lodge rooms are paper thin - we heard everything our neighbours said and did. It also meant we didn't really feel comfortable using the balcony.
There is no wifi free, you have to pay for it. I think it's cheeky seeing as it is available, but at a price. Especially since you can't really get phone service around Big Sur.

Very friendly staff and maintenance manager took care of a couple things we needed in amazing time
Wish the property had a breakfast menu

location, maintenance, atmosphere
dinner and breakfast options only further away , not on the property. slightly overpriced rates.

The room was gorgeous, as I remembered from previous stays and that is all I can say about our use of the facilities because it rained both days and so the park and hotel staff closed all the trails and the beaches as well. The restaurant was empty as were the cabins and rooms. It was dead.
The big attraction....hiking in Big Sur was deemed illegal. The power tripping park wardens and hotel staff were running around telling us not to dare even go for a walk around the campground or nearby trails....just in case something happened - BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING!!!! As someone who does understand the risks and has hiked in mountainous terrain extensively that was quite a very nasty surprise.
The housekeeping staff on the other hand staff were great, but the front desk was a little dodgy, Polite but...... The meal package was suddenly discontinued- due to lack of guests so when I mentioned that I was confused about the cooking facilities and kitchen in our room, Tara responded very quickly that she could make sure I was in one of the rooms that had the kitchen. Great, we had booked a one bedroom suite so we were already paying top dollar, I thought. She also mentioned that the place was almost empty because they had offered no cost cancellations at the last minute due to the rain. So with all that in mind, the fact that we actually showed up for two rainy days, at great expense....I was surprised to see upon check-out, that she had charged me a substantial upgrade fee per night for a room that was the same size as the room I was first shown. The only difference being that it had a very small kitchen and pull out couch instead of another bed where the kitchen was. The place was empty but she took it upon herself to raise the rate without consulting me first, as opposed to simply offer the upgrade, as any respectable hotel manager should do. That left a sour taste in my mouth. You would have thought that patronage under the circumstances would have been worth something.
Next time I travel all the way from Eastern Canada to share Big Sur with family or friends I might have to stay at one of the other beautiful motels or cabins in the area.

Nice little hideaway in the middle of Big Sur. Super friendly staff and probably would be perfect in anything but winter.
I went in December which is off season and the heavy rains meant that the cabins were blacked out. Torches were provided to help see clearly in the lodge. There was free access to parks with each booking but all the parks were flooded and therefore closed. The strongest data signal was in a conference centre not in the lodge main lobby where the restaurant was, which made it difficult to plan next steps. All in all, it was a pleasant stay considering the off-season weather, but staff were super friendly and I was just there for the night. There was a little creature in my bin which was to be expected being in the middle of the woods I suppose.

it feels like living in a forest. get a sense of nature and breath fresh air!
the way to the cabins are narrow and a little scary during the night (no light at all!)

Being in the park
The lodge is outdated and was dirty, we checked in a cold room and the heater took. 2 days to heat it up.
4.0
Spacious room, ample parking, lodging fee includes entrance/parking to 3 different forests and parks nearby
Wifi is not free, poor cell signal, bed is a little too soft, and indifferent service staff at front desk and gift shop. When we arrived at the front desk, we were unaware that the cabins were a short drive away from the office building. While we unloaded our belongings at the front door right outside the concierge desk, no one bothered to come out to inform or stop us even though we were in full view of the staff. We were only told eventually by a lady passing by (not sure if she was hotel staff) while we were waiting to check in at the lobby with every piece of luggage. Maybe I've missed this information in the check in notice on booking.com but this inconvenience could certainly have been avoided if staff on duty was more attentive. Also, given the price of the room, having to pay separately for wifi is just plain ripoff.
