The house was fine. The price was good compared to others but dont expect luxury. There were no dishtowels so we had to buy some. There wasnt enough toilet paper to last the week. There was no shampoo. The pots and pans were old and not good quality but other than that the location was excellent. Lots of things to do nearby. Mosquitos were bad at the water so we stayed up near the house.

House is spacious with large yard which was perfect for our family getaway. The main house and the in law suite gave everyone their own space and their own bathrooms. It is close to the main entrance to Acadia and many places to eat including Trenton Bridge and Bar Harbor Lobster Pound.
We rented paddleboards and were able to launch them right from the yard at high tide. Also loved watching the Osprey nest on the little island across from the house.

We loved staying here! The setting feels secluded and has a lovely view of the water yet the location is perfect. It's equidistant to Bar Harbor, Echo Lake, and Ellsworth. We liked that location instead of the crowds and traffic in Bar Harbor.
The house is really big with lots of communal spaces and big kitchen. It was nice having the garage since it was raining on the day we arrived -- made unloading the cars very easy.
The hosts were great and very quick to respond to our questions.
Will definitely look to stay here again next time we get the family together.

I was pleased overall with our stay, I would like to make a suggestion. I think cleaning could be better we found a lot of dust in areas and some things a little dirty. I totally understand the turn over time is crazy, but I feel a little more attention to detail was needed when cleaning. Also maybe some updating would be nice. More towel racks in bathrooms, new couch (present one was very stained),maybe a little something every year .
All in all your location is spot on and we had a great family stay, would totally book again. Thank you

Close to Bar Harbor & Acadia NP entrance & to grocery shopping back across bridge. Enjoyed fire pit.
Older house that has some minor maintenance issues but we did not go to Acadia area to sit in the house.
Had 6 in our party & ample room for more.

The property is beautiful! There is plenty of room both inside and out for all ages and lots of room for kids to play.

This was our second year at the house. The location was wonderful even for a foggy rainy week. The only 2 issues were lack of screens for the windows and another room with beds larger than twins would be nice!

We truly enjoyed the Thomas Bay Retreat house. 2 families (4 adults, 3 teens, and a doggo) stayed very comfortably. House was clean, well maintained, and the location was great. Highly recommended

My family and I stayed at this house and absolutely loved the location! The back yard is perfect for kids, dogs, and people who love a beautiful view. The house was a great space for what we needed after long hiking days.
There were many holes/tears in the screens on doors and windows that did let in a lot of mosquitoes. Some of the windows didn't have any screens at all in the in-law suite, which got very hot. All appliances worked nicely.
It was perfect distance from Acadia and we had a great time!

This house fit our family well - there were lots of bedrooms and bathrooms for our 3 adult children, their 2 spouses, 3 grandchildren, and us. There are 4 good common area spaces, a nicely sized dining room table, a well-equipped kitchen, and a 2-car garage. The location is good for driving to all the Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park sights. The weather was hot for some of the days, so the two window air conditioners ran constantly and struggled to keep the upstairs rooms cool. There were lots of mosquitoes out in the yard, but they were not tool bad up on the deck. Overall, the house met our needs well and we had a great time together.

This was an ideal spot for us to explore MDI from. The access to Thomas Bay was really cool, the kids loved exploring on a kayak at high tide and getting muddy at low tide.
The house was great, not fancy, but exactly what we needed. The bugs were hungry as always— it was Maine in the summer after all. Thankfully, the fire pit and bug spray helped keep them mostly at bay.
Had an issue with the keypad and the property manager responded quickly.
We spent most of our time out and about but this was a great base of operations for us. Great stay!

2 families and our dog stayed for a week. We had plenty of room. We loved the location especially kayaking and fishing right from the back yard! We had no issues requiring the involvement of the property manager and check in was so easy! The only constructive criticism was that the kitchen could have more pots and pans as well as tools, Luke a vegetable peeler and lobster crackers. We will stay here again on our next trip to Bar Harbor.

The stove did not work so we were unable to cook in the main kitchen. The location and grounds were nice. All of the beds squeeked! The towels for showers were small and poor quality.

The location and property of this home were perfect! Sadly, the home is not. It is extremely dated and EXTREMELY dirty. Your 'Cleaning Service' really needs to be looked into. We literally drew and 'x' in the dirt in the toilet. Everything was sticky and needed a really good scrubbing.
The owner was very responsive during the booking period. As soon as we got there, nothing. They must have had a flood in the basement, it was soaking wet with NO LIGHTS AT ALL. I left a phone message with the owner, no response, at all. We packed based on being able to do laundry and we could not because of the wet and dark conditions.
We made the most of it because the view from the back deck, nightly fires and location were great!
PS-Perhaps you should notify your tenants about pest control doing a treatment during their visit. We were told the renters last month had no idea that they were coming either. We turned them away.

The property is very nice. The size was perfect for our group of 10. There was lots of room to move around and we were all able to sit together very comfortably for meals in the spacious dining room.
There were several different rooms that allowed us to spread out as much as we wanted and the screened-in porch and deck were great.
This review would have been excellent overall were it not for some housekeeping-related issues which have been detailed in a message to the property owner and the inconsistency of the hot water. The temperature fluctuated very widely.
If the housekeeping issues are addressed this will be a great place to stay.

Perfect for larger groups. House has everything we needed. Suggestion One: more towels would be great. Suggestion Two: outdoor lights both front and back did not work. Really dangerous out back at night. Strongly suggest those be repaired.

A beautiful property that was quiet and pet friendly. This beautiful, spacious, and clean house has everything you could possibly need while staying in bar Harbor. It's well off the beaten path, but still close to civilization for groceries/supplies. Easy access to the water on a short walk, and a nearby beach great for exploring and beachcombing. It's short trip out to beautiful Acadia and other area attractions. The kitchen is well stocked and the grill outside is great too. We enjoyed relaxing campfires after exploring at the end of the day and then quiet time with a movie before before bed. This house was perfect for all ages. The owner, was excellent about answering all of our questions and accommodating our needs. This was a lovely getaway spot that we will highly recommend to friends and family. Will definitely book again!

Great Bay front property!
The location and property are what we loved most about this property. We brought our kayaks and were able to kayak and fish the bay whenever tides allowed. We had 5 children, the privacy of the yard was wonderful for them to run around. The house was good for a lot of people!

This house is perfect for families and pets. The yard is amazing, the home is comfortable, and the view is outstanding. Close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor for our daily excursions. Nice grill and fire pit out back for dinner and s’mores!
I would definitely be interested in renting this property again.

The view from this home is beautiful. It’s location was perfect. The house itself is dated and needs some updates. We found wood cockroaches throughout the house on our 3rd day. Matt was easy to get ahold of and had someone out that afternoon to assess the situation. After confirming they were cockroaches, he told me someone wouldn’t be able to fumigate for two days. We refused to stay in the home. He was not helpful at all. Could not give any recommendations where our family of 6 could go and stay. Did not offer any other known properties or offer to put us up elsewhere. We were left to fend for ourselves, to locate another available property as soon as possible. They did refund our money, but we were highly disappointed in the lack of assistance. The house is located in the woods. Full of mosquitos during the summer months, would recommend bug spray if you venture to this property. We won’t be back.

Spacious house
There were 12 of us and this house had ample bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to stay comfortably. The view was beautiful and the location is quiet, even off of the main road.
The landscaping was better than in the pictures; the back yard was mowed down to the water. However, the mosquitoes were so bad we were unable to use the lawn at all, and the "beach" area was mud, with no sand or rocks for walking by the water. We used the house as a home base and went on day trips to the surrounding areas to enjoy the water and the scenery.
Many of the things in the house could use an upgrade - the king-sized bed in the master bedroom had king-sized sheets, but twin or full sized blankets. The kitchen was fully stocked, but many of the serving utensils bent in the middle when we attempted to use them. The door of the dishwasher was somewhat loose, so it couldn't be left slightly open to let the dishes dry. The double oven vented heat out of the bottom of the oven directly into the kitchen, which became a problem during the hot summer days.
We had to use the oven in the in-law apartment and carry hot food down the stairs. There was hot water for showers sometimes, but frequently there was not enough hot water for one person to take a full shower, not to mention 12 people. In contrast, the sink in the master bedroom always gave warm water, with no cold water. There was no ceiling light fixture in the bedroom in the in-law apartment, and there were multiple bulbs out in the master bedroom light fixture. There is a somewhat finished room in the basement, but it is damp, and there is no furniture in that room. We spent almost all of our time in the family room, which was very pleasant, with comfortable seating and a ceiling fan that helped a great deal on hot days.
The biggest concern we had was that the bathrooms were not adequately cleaned when we arrived. More than one toilet seat was dirty, which was highly concerning during this time of the global coronavirus pandemic. We cleaned the bathrooms ourselves.
We enjoyed the Bar Harbor area and were able to find places to swim and enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of nearby attractions and restaurants. This house has potential if some of the particular issues are addressed.
