This is a very nice property. The outdoor living area(s) are very comfortable. This property would be perfect for three couples allowing privacy and space for all.

I loved this property! Jason is a great host, very helpful and communicative. Very quickly answers any questions you might have about the property or area. The location is perfect, so close to the beach and to town. Our children loved the pool (and that there was a Jesus Christ lizard that hung around the pool all day) Jason’s passion for botany means that the area is surrounded by cool plants and amazing jungle wildlife. We loved that most of the property utilized the outdoor space.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful home. Our arrival could have gone smoother as the house is situated a mile or so up a very steep, one lane, heavily rutted road. We arrived after dark and passed by the house a several times before getting assistance from someone at a local hotel. We made several attempts to call the property manager for help which went unanswered. YOU WILL NEED AN AWD VEHICLE TO GET TO THIS PROPERTY AND MANY OF THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS. The pictures don’t do it justice as the house, view and location were amazing. If you are considering renting this home, I advise you to get very specific directions from Jason before beginning your journey.

Wow! A mansion in the sky. The drive is not for the faint-of-heart but you get used to it. We are definitely coming back with friends to this stunning estate. The bedrooms are each set up as their own suites but also spread out on the property. At first, our teenagers wondered if this was for real--they would each get their own unit. I know this would not work if the kids were younger--each of the 3 unites are far enough away that you can't see them or hear them. But how cool to meet in the open air kitchen in morning! And dine together in the grand Titanic-size dining room! And sprawl on the south lawn for some sun! Then dip in the pool! And a jungle trail in the back tops it all! Pictures can not capture the creative design of this unusual property. Uvita is a lovely location. We have been to many parts of Costa Rica--we enjoy Marino Ballena and nearby Playa Hermosa the most.

We really enjoyed staying here, it's really a beautiful place right next to a natural jungle and has a nice view of the sunset over the sea. Has a few things that need attention but we were informed that they will have them replaced soon as the new stuff arrives. We would certainly stay here again.

The home had everything we needed. The days we spent doing nothing but cooking, taking naps and swimming in the pool, were some of the best days. Everything being outside with stunning views was indescribable. The bedrooms were extremely cozy with very comfortable beds and pillows. When you hop in a taxi to get back, tell them Vista Ballena! That will get you right to the house! Also if you don’t have the best service, you can walk right up to the hotel (Vista Ballena) & have them call you a cab. The views from there are breathtaking as well. The owner Jason was very accommodating and answered all of our questions, a really awesome host who made the experience that much better. We will be back! Pura Vida!

We were two adults and four older teens. This home was perfect in every way. The views of the Pacific and forest were stunning. Each bedroom was unique and comfortable and had its own bathroom. The outdoor living and eating areas were spacious and everything you might need was provided. We saw maybe three mosquitoes but tons of other, much more desirable, wildlife right on the property! Behind the property were well maintained trails for walking. The pool kept everyone cool when we were home. The town of Uvita was easy to navigate and includes many great restaurants. We explored several beaches, the Alturas Animal Sanctuary, the Osa Canopy tour, and a mangrove boat tour in Sierpe. Each activity was professional and enjoyed by all of us! We cannot wait to return!

We only had a couple of days to stay in Uvita but the Villas Licuala was amazing. The layout and the design of the property was exactly what we were looking for and it completely exceeded our expectations. Very peaceful, very charming, and completely relaxing. Jason's, knowledge of the area completely added to the experience as well. It is very clear he put a lot of heart into the design of the villas and surrounding gardens. Its an amazing property right on the edge of the rainforest and I would recommend it to any family. We were traveling with our 11 and 12 year old.

We spent 6 nights in this villa and loved every minute! It took a little while to get used to cooking outside (kitchen and dining is outside) but we loved it. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very tastefully decorated, beds are super comfortable. Kitchen has all the appliances you need, we made breakfast and dinners in the home, opting to go out for lunch. There is a hotel minutes up the hill that has decent food and a nice ambience if you arrive late and don't want to cook or drive. Two supermarkets close by with everything you need - a car is necessary. We walked to the Whales Tail from Hermosa beach - beautiful walk, just check the tide timing. The best thing of all is the sunsets from the villa, truly magical!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Licuala in early January. The open air floor plan worked well for our family and bedrooms were very comfortable. Very tropical atmosphere with great wildlife (howler monkeys, toucans and parrots) and beautiful views of the Pacific. Grandkids loved the little pool. Local snorkeling was good but not the quality we've seen in the Caribbean. Slight disappointment that Victoria wasn't there during our stay, as we had some difficulty reaching Jason since contact phone numbers were not up to date in Villa info sheets. I think has been corrected. Definitely recommend this Villa.

We had an amazing time in Uvita, the property was first class, great location for the beach and town but still having the amazing views and wildlife on your doorstep, with monkeys swinging in the trees around the house and a great nature walk from the property.

We had a great experience at the Pagoda Garden Villa. The outdoor living & dining areas were spacious, comfortable and the most well-appointed of anywhere we've stayed so far (6 trips to CR to date). Jason was a fine host & was available for any issues & questions that cropped up. He was quick to respond & helped our vacation to go smoothly. The jungle on the right side of the house was incredible. We were fortunate to have monkeys in the trees above the house on 7 out of our 10 days there! Toucans were a daily occurrence. Iguanas and parakeets also made a few appearances. On the last morning we were ever so fortunate to have been visited by the very rare Macaw. Butterflies galore, including many sightings of the famous Costa Rican blue butterfly. We loved the outdoor & open concept for the living space. The kitchen is adequate but we really only ate breakfast there, we ate out for our other meals. Three private bedrooms, we were two couples so we each had our own intimate and private space. The road is the least rough of all the places we've visited in the Uvita area and it's only about 5mins up the hill. Uvita is 6 mins away. Conveniently located to get to our favourite beach, Playa Hermosa in under 10 mins. Honestly, the location is superb in terms of access to all things in the region. A great view of the ocean & the sunsets. The only drawback is some electrical wires that pass in front of the house...we didn't let this bother us though as the view was spectacular. The listing description is amazing, but doesn't really do justice to this incredible property and its owners. The property was easy to find and very secure. My husband and our 3 children (17, 14 and 10) stayed here at the end of our Thanksgiving trip to Costa Rica. There was enough room for us to each have our own space and yet feel close together. The property is stunning and very welcoming; thanks to the wonderful owners that had paid great attention to the details. There was delicious coffee from the local cafe, some cold drinks and the "everything you need to know" book awaiting our arrival. This book had all the info we needed about the property, town and adventure opportunities to be had in the area. The owners made themselves available to answer any questions we had and were a delight to visit with. We were here, purposefully, to consider a move to Uvita and just fell in love with it all. We were introduced to a fabulous school that Victoria and Jason had informed us about prior to our trip and enjoyed the opportunity to visit in person; our girls had the chance to see what a school in CR looks like. We spent Thanksgiving day zip-lining at the nearby Osa Canopy Tour. There are 9 cables, 11 platforms, 2 repelling stations, 2 suspension bridges, and a crazy "tarzan" swing that the girls really loved. Chris and his team were super fun and professional. What we loved in Uvita: the atmosphere and pizza at Pizzeria La Fogata, the owner of Scooby's (he shared his favorite places to see in Uvita with us), Playa Ventanas (practically had this beach to ourselves), hiking through the jungle behind this house and the unbelievably gorgeous sunsets and wildlife viewed from the lookout balcony. Early on our first morning at the house, I saw a pod of dolphins swim by in the ocean, 3 capuchin monkeys, a scarlet macaw and five toucans from where I sat. Mind blown and I didn't even have to leave the property!!! Our only disappointment was that we had not spent our whole research vacation there and that we had to leave. This is the only place we will stay when we return to Uvita! We would give it 10 stars if we could. Truly a little piece of Heaven on earth!!!

Can't describe how beautiful this place is. The view, the place, the vibes, it's magical. Close enough to stores and restaurants, simply amazing. The hosts were great, provided all the information needed, and even gave us some fruits and beverages when we got there. If you ever visit Costa Rica, this place is definitely a must. Don't lose your chance. Totally recomended.

This rental was truly a hidden gem. The view itself, watching the sunset was spectacular!! I arrived with family ranging from 5 you to 69 yoa and everyone in a our party raved on the beautiful home that has been obviously been built to impress. Although we were in Costa Rica on vacation to enjoy the beaches, we found ourselves hurrying back to enjoy the home. More than enough room for 7 people, the pool and deck area are impressive, and the friendly owner was helpful with not only information about his home, but with things to do in the area. When we return to Costa Rica we will absolutely make a special visit back to Uvita for this awesome house!!

First, I love this area of Costa Rica and it was made even better by staying here. The villas were perfectly laid out to provide privacy and yet common areas for your group. The beds were very comfortable as well. The addition of the pool makes this the ideal place to stay. It is just the right size for getting in and cooling off. We spent part of an afternoon just hanging out by the pool and enjoying the surroundings. The afternoon we did that we saw whales playing in the ocean, one with the giant tail coming up out of the water as we watched. And the monkeys swung through the trees each morning above us. Jason and Victoria were readily available if you needed anything, restaurant reservations, suggestions on beaches or other things to do. It was perfect really to totally be left alone, but yet if you needed anything at all they were easily accessible and so enjoyable to visit with. If coming with a small group, this is the place for you!

My colleague and I rented this three bed, three bath villa with a gorgeous pool up on the hillside above Unita, Costa Rica. We planned to be there for a week's worth of business, and this seemed a better fit for us than one of the hotels in the area. We were very happy. The beds were very comfortable. The villa has great views. There are birds all around because of the neighboring forest, and the property manager was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a property we would return to! And, it also had a washer and dryer on site which made going home with clean clothes a nice added bonus.

This place is awesome. This was the second time I stayed here, and definitively I'll come back! Bedrooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped....you can feel at home. The pool is the perfect place to chill & relax, the sunset on this place is stunning. 100% recommended

I have been going to Costa Rica for 10 years and we always like to discover new places. This time we took my daughter and her 3 HS friends. It was 7 of us in total. This property is super beautiful and the all the room are very clean. I love the decoration of the house. Victoria was very nice and helpful. My favorite was the outdoor kitchen. I love to cook and the view from the kitchen was amazing. We will for sure go back to this place in the future.

Beautiful property with all of the amenities you could ask for. The design & layout of the property sets the tone for relaxation and an atmosphere for enjoying family time. It is also great for multiple couples traveling together as each of the bedrooms provides complete privacy. The owners have thought of everything when it comes to this home. We felt right at home & enjoyed getting advice from Jason about excursions & dining. Everything was perfect!

I recently traveled to Costa Rica and stayed in in a beautifully renovated villa that is nestled nearly right in the jungle. Beautiful ocean views could be seen from the comfort of the pool and natural sounds of the jungle could be heard as well. If you are looking for a peaceful place to rest while being surrounded by the beauty of Costa Rica then this property has many places to make you happy to to stay. If you are interested in a nature walk, the grounds have a pathway that naturally passes into the jungle and back to your vacation home. Many of the wildlife creatures come close enough to get great photos of from the path. Take pictures with tropical monkeys and birds flying overhead. Jason and his wife Victoria were very accommodating and provided me with good cuisine ideas, and other local finds. Victoria helped me with booking some of my excursions. They were very pleasant and made for a nice relaxing fun filled vacation. This was a find that you have to see for yourself to believe.

Jason and Victoria have really outdone themselves with this gorgeous 3 bedroom open air home. We stayed with them last year in their 2 bedroom apartment, and had a lovely time. This 3 bedroom was on a whole new level. It has its own pool, full outdoor kitchen, gorgeous spacious bathrooms (and an outdoor tub), and tons of open seating area, all with a view of the ocean. We saw amazing sunsets, monkeys almost everyday, and even a sloth hanging out in the trees nearby. As always, J&V are great hosts, and while you get extreme privacy here, you can always just walk up to their main home if you need anything. Despite everything being outdoors, there really aren't ANY bugs, and we would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in staying somewhere affordable, luxurious, easy to access, and most of all, gorgeous on the Costa Ballena.

My boyfriend and I just stayed at Jason and Victoria's villa. What a perfect place to be! The property is just as pictured and described, and Jason and Victoria are extremely accommodating and willing to help with anything. Victoria arranaged for an on-site masseuse and scheduled a fishing trip and zip line tour for us. They know the area well and had great recommendations. We never had any problems with the wifi or cable television, and the electricity was very reliable. The area is more remote than other popular tourist spots, but still had plenty of restaurants and tours/activities. It was exactly what we were looking for and I hope we make it back soon!

We visited Jason and Victoria's hacienda this June, on a family recommendation. Couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. The family plays host well, and will point you in the right direction you want to make your vacation. I surf and Jason steered me true. We came only as a a couple, but the property can sleep 6 comfortably. Very clean and unique, the landscaping alone will make your jaw drop. Make use of their suggestions on local cuisine, all recommendations were spot on. Thank you again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights for a romantic getaway as we were traveling along the coast. Five stars all around for location beauty and hospitality! I don't even have words to describe the beauty within this property. Every detail from the architecture to the gardens within the gates of the villa were breathtaking. The french doors from the two master bedrooms open up towards the ocean. This allows you to lay in bed and enjoy the beauty, view, sounds and smells of the surrounding rainforest It was also convenient to have full kitchen amenities which gave us the option of cooking in. If you are looking for a city feel and want to be walking distance to shops and restaurants this isn't your spot but if you're looking to get away from it all and don't mind a 5 minute drive to the beach and town then this location is perfect for you and you significant other or with your family! Overall the Hughes family made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating! I highly recommend this villa if you are looking for relaxation, tranquility and a breath of fresh air and jaw dropping views.

My wife and I just spent a great 4 day/3night trip with Jason & Victoria. Once they explained everything about the house, we began our relaxation. The pictures don't quite do justice to the amazing panoramic views of the property. It is amazing. Everything was clean and ready for us on our arrival. The restaurant recommendations were spot-on. We look forward to going back and enjoying this property again!

My fiance and I stayed in Victoria and Jason's villa during a 1 week wedding planning trip, as we are getting married in Costa Rica. The villa was absolutely stunning, with fresh birds of paradise flowers in every bathroom, very comfy beds, a convenient outdoor kitchen, beautiful showers, and landscaping. We enjoyed fresh fruit and coffee on our private patio and heard howler monkeys every morning. The monkeys even came down the trees so we could see them 2 mornings. There are toucans in the trees above the patio every morning as well! Victoria and Jason were so accommodating and friendly from the day we arrived. We had a blast hanging with them and getting to know them (and envy their laid back lifestyle in Costa Rica). The property is in a great location, very close to the local supermarket and Playa Hermosa for surfing. We had a very relaxing, wonderful trip! Thanks for being so good to us Victoria and Jason! We can't wait to come back and see you again soon.
