- You cannot drink the tap water since it is lake water. So, you must use bottled water (provided).
- If you have any mobility issues, don't go.
- There are lots of steps from the parking area to the house. 5 flights to the upper level of the house and 7 to water level.
-There are 3 levels to the house, all connected by a spiral staircase.
- There is no table to eat at. You can sit on the deck or eat at the coffee table.
- The property isn't well kept. There are many items that are deteriorated or neglected. Bits of projects and yard tools scattered about.
- There is a large scary pine tree next to the deck that is mostly rotted out. It will fall at some point and it leans right over the deck where you swim.
- We ran into an unfortunate set of circumstances with a leaky propane stove and dealing with multiple outside vendors to get it fixed. In the end it was an annoyance and we didn't have a stove for 3.5 days.
With all of that said, we had a nice week enjoying the deck and the location. There is was a canoe, three kayaks and two SUPs. We enjoyed swimming off the dock and generally enjoying each other’s company.

It’s a nice house directly on the lake. A plus is you get a nice workout going up and down The stairs.

I almost don't want to leave this review because I'd like to gatekeep this property for myself! This place made for a positively beautiful weekend. I went with my boyfriend and two of our friends and was a bit nervous the place would be too small for four people based on other reviews — but it wasn't. There was plenty of room for all of us and my boyfriend and I had plenty of privacy in the bedroom upstairs. What I wanted from the weekend was a home with a deck, a dock, and a view and this place delivered. The fire pit was the cherry on top! We didn't leave the property all weekend — why would we?? — and the kitchen facilities and grill made it easy to cook ourselves delicious meals both nights. 10/10, I will be back!

Great place to stay, but a lot of stairs to get to house. Steep landscape does not allow for parking near house, so you will need to carry items down multiple sections of stairs.
Kitchen is downstairs on lower floor with no place to sit and congregate. Lake water is used, so you will need to drink bottled water (provided by the host), but remember to have it with you when on the third floor. It’s a long spiral staircase to the kitchen.

Beautiful piece of property. Lakes views and wildlife were awesome. All amenities were provided for as stated. Loved our stay!!

The view out over the lake was extremely nice and the hurricane (that past by) only real effect was two very spectacular sunsets!! Must be great during Fall foliage.

We stayed here for our anniversary, and were looking for a quiet place with direct water access, and the cottage did not disappoint. It's a small place (best for two people), and simple, but has all the basic amenities that make life easier. Having stayed in a number of rental cottages, what impressed me the most was the lack of smell. No terrible musty smell, and most importantly, no horrible air fresheners. What a relief! You can open windows in all the rooms for cool night air, and the air conditioning is there if it's hot. We loved the full-featured kitchen, really convenient to have a bathroom right next to the bedroom, and we ate all our meals on the wonderful deck overlooking the water (best part of the house!). We wanted to hear loons while we ate dinner and got our wish! The lake is beautiful and I only wish we'd had more days so that we could have taken the boat out.

Had such a relaxing honeymoon getaway. Shawn’s place was equipped with everything you could want for a lake front vacation.

Very cute, Great Lake views.

We enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and inviting. The steps and canoe gave us a full body workout. We even tackled a crossword puzzle on the only rainy dad we had.

This property has everything you need for a great stay on the lake. The views are breathtaking. Although it is a “cabin” it has the feel of a home. There are a lot of stairs but, it is well worth the effort. We had a great time!
4.8
Cannot beat the view and access to the lake! We spent most of our time kayaking and on the deck. The pictures of the stairs are accurate but we did not find it impactful to our stay. Kitchen was new and clean. Easy communication! We would return!

We did enjoy the life on the lake for the week we were there. You really didn't have to go elsewhere because the water sports and swimming were right on the premises, including fishing on the dock. It was secluded also, which was great. Restaurants and shopping were close by the area.
The only issue was the hike up and down the outside stairs and the spiral stairs to each floor, but other than that it was relaxing.

This is the lakeside camp retreat you are looking for! Campfires, kayaks, dock to jump off, plentiful outdoor deck space - welcome to lake life! In addition, while the property is private, it’s a ten minute drive to Hannafords and slightly longer to the Goodlife market. All amenities are within a short distance. Highly recommend and working with Shawn was very easy.

Tranquil and peaceful setting.

The pictures of this property looked amazing, but nothing compared to being there. It was a perfect spot to spend a few days away with my husband and relax without the kids. It is not far from Portland where we drove most nights for dinner. The second you stepped into the house you could smell that it had just been cleaned. The view of the lake is incredible and the amenities provided by the owner, like access to kayaks to take out on the lake, felt above and beyond. I generally never go back to the same place twice, but I cannot wait to book this place again. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful space with others.

Stayed here for a long weekend while fall leaf peeping and visiting family. The view of the lake each morning while having a cup of coffee could not be beat! Really enjoyed our time!

Gorgeous sunsets and lake views. Listening to the loons while relaxing by the fireplace with my wife was very nice. Close to Freeport, Yarmouth and Portland. Made for a treat vacation. The stairs could be a challenge for some but it was great exercise.

I stayed for 10 days and had a great experience. The lake and house are beautiful. Everything you need is in the house. No issues. Highly Recommend staying here for a quiet time away.

We enjoyed our stay, thanks for making the house available.

Can’t get any closer to the water. Great Labor Day escape!

We booked on a whim to get out of Portland before Labor Day Weekend! 10 minutes out of Portland and we were here! We were in the water every day- took great kayak trips, fished off of the dock and went to all of the amazing boulders! Fire pit every night- Did not leave camp once in 3 days! Great location! Quiet, peaceful lake- Loons were amazing and we saw beavers swimming along the shore! Will definitely book again- Great home, incredible views- peaceful lake, great respite!!

Honestly for the cost, if something was available elsewhere for more money; we would not have hesitated renting another place. The moving in and pulling out of necessities dulls the experience negatively. Knowing what to expect with the stairs, it still hampers the stay. On another note, need wet bar-counter space, small frig moved to living area, TV on second floor would be nice. Really, low ticket monetarily to make more user friendly.
4.8
Very unique property with a true tree house feel! You feel isolated from the road and the neighbors as there are 60 steps down to the property from where you park. We spent most our time on the deck or on the water (canoe, kayaks, paddle boards available). The host was very responsive to address a few needs, which we were very appreciative of. Loved listening to the loons. Would definitely come back. Of note, the property may be a challenge for those with mobility challenges or small children given the climb up / down and the small, spiral staircases inside to get to the different levels.

Once you get used to the stairs this property is sooo relaxing. We spent most of our time on the deck or around the fire pit which are right next to the lake. We used the canoe several times and there was a decent assortment of life preservers available. Modest cookware and dishes/cutlery also provided, but understandably post COVID not much for spices/condiments/oils/etc available for use so bring some with you or buy them up the road at Hannafords (10 min drive). Even rainy days were enjoyable sitting in front of the picture window overlooking the lake listening to the loons sing!

Little Sebago is a perfect size lake, plenty large, but intimate as well. The house was great, with the deck right on the water. Shawn quickly responded when we needed him. Yes, quite a few steps from the road to the house, but once you're moved in, it doesn't matter much.
4.8
If you're mostly focused on the water and activities, this place is great. The owner is also amazingly responsive and has superior customer service. The cabin itself needs some work, but it's not bad. It's good for a weekend. The lake is wonderful.
4.8
The access to the property was steep as revealed in the listing. The view from all three floors was beautiful. My stay was very quite and cozy. I would have like to have more time at the cabin but I had business in Portland. Maybe next time.

The lake house stay was great. Great location right on the lake with a nice dock, fire pit, boats and kayaks available. One thing we didn’t realize, however, was that it was a pretty tough place to have a small toddler. To get to the camp, there are several flights of steep stairs and the setup of the cabin is very vertical with 1 room per floor. There are three floors connected by steep spiral staircase. The bedroom/bathroom on the top floor, the main living area on the center floor, and the kitchen and bath on the lower floor that opens to the deck and grill. There isn’t really a kitchen table or place to eat and since it was raining we couldn’t just eat outside. Overall, great for older kids and adults with awesome views and lots of activities.

This camp was in a great location. The lake is beautiful and quiet. The only thing I would want others to be aware of is the amount of steps it takes to get from the car parking area to the house and down to the lake. 66 steps. It's a good workout but I was always glad when I didn't forget something. The inside stairways are spiral staircases.

Much needed vacation with my Maine squeeze
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days and had a wonderful time! Super easy check in process and communication with our host, great location, and beautiful lake-front views made this a 5-star stay for us. The house is set within the woods at the lake front - so we experienced the typical bugs and critters in and around the house that you might expect in such a setting. Overall, we would definitely recommend this house to other couples or small families for a restorative lake get away!
