I really like the Moxy Washington, DC Downtown vibe. It exudes fun the moment you pull up to see the open patio space - and takes that feeling up a notch when you reach the rooftop bar. Overall, the staff is a pleasure to deal with. Kudos to Ken, absolute gem, who welcomed me coming and going. The guys working the elevator for rooftop access, the bartenders, and the DJ don't even act like it's a job. The lady who prepares one bacon, egg, and cheese after another in the morning - bonus. Great attitudes and excellent service.
Moxy Washington, DC Downtown boils down does not honor third-party reservations. I had several options upon booking my reservation (with photos and amenity descriptions) and chose a room that included: Guest Room with Queen Bed and City View. Free toiletries, this double room includes a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. The air-conditioned double room provides a flat-screen TV with streaming services, seating area, a safe deposit box as well as city views. The unit offers 1 bed.
Unfortunately, when I arrived I was intentionally downgraded by Moxy. After checking into room 324, there was no place to actually hang clothing because the "Pegs" were located directly above the Flatscreen TV. Since the "Pegs" were useless, there was no chair because you would not likely hang a chair on a peg that is installed inches above the TV...hmm. No Safe either.
I scanned the website, but the room I was given is not included in the "All Rooms" section.
When compared to the Moxy gallery of rooms (even the Double Bunk Rooms), rooms come equipped with hangers, a folding luggage rack, and even a table. Only a a single hanger came with this room. Photos will show this behind the TV.
I questioned the front desk about the room assignment. This was not Ken, but another gentlemen. His response to me was that I had booked with a third-party and he could send up a chair.
When I followed by showing him the photo of the room I had booked, and informed him that I saw evidence of the hotel having those specific rooms. He told me that this was an issue with Booking.com providing incorrect information about about Moxy rooms and something I would need to take up with Booking.com.
I found it quite tacky that Moxy behaved this way. I will be sharing photos of the "third-party" approved room that I was provided to warn others of Moxy's bait and switch tactics.

Staff was lovely, everything seemed clean, and the included breakfast was better than expected.
The translucent bathroom was REALLY translucent, didn't have a working fan, and had water pressure so low I thought it might have been broken. (I have seen stronger streams coming out of my cat...)
Also, the constant music in the lobby was both bad and loud. I'm a supposedly target millennial, but some of us like quiet!

The location
The queen sized bunk bed was pushed flushed against the wall. The only outlet in the sleeping area was behind the pillows. I slept every night with my cell phone and watch charging in the bed.
There’s a busy roof top nightclub blasting music until the early am.

The hotel was tiny, the staff seemed like they were there just to get a paycheck and not because they enjoyed working there. The service was just AWFUL!! Several occasions we had a horrible encounter with the person at the front. One of them was being yelled at by what I think was the manager for something that was NOT our fault. It was the most embarrassing thing! Never staying here ever again. The bathroom sink leaked when the water was on. Under the bed looked like it hasn’t been swept for months.

The Moxy hotel is a very cute, modern hotel with pleasant staff. It was in a good location and the rooftop bar was definitely good vibes. I would definitely stay again.

Nothing! The hotel was like a living nightmare
I didn’t like the size of the box they called a room, the holes in the bed linen, the noise, the party outside my room till 0330am on Saturday night, the indifferent and rude front desk staff, the bar that shut at 2300 but refused to serve me at 2250, the poor room cleaning, filthy carpets in the hallway and lifts, the manager who said he would replace the damaged bed linen and never did, and the fact they refused to give me an invoice when I checked out! Truly a dreadful place

the rooms are so so so small I didn’t expect that even tho it’s says the room size bathroom is almost same size as a bedroom itself so I was feeling claustrophobic not kidding. the truth is the hotel is kind of expensive for this room sizes you can definitely find a hotel room twice bigger in a 4 star at downtown/foggy bottom for the same price or even a bit less what I did after 4 nights at moxy :)

The hotel is very nice, the interiors are very new and well kept. I loved the lobby which is also a bar with lot of seatings and space to chat and play different board games. The staff is amazing, very helpful and kind, i reserved the room with bunk bed because it was the only available but once I arrived there and told them I was alone they offered me a wonderful room with a double bed. They also offer a free drink for every guest!
The only thing is that they have a really nice rooftop on top of the hotel so you can hear the music in the evening from the room, but personally I slept very well.

Terrible housekeeping; Smoke Alaram bipping in a room at 2 a.m and took more than 30 minutes for the hotel staff to deactivate it; Hearing piping noises and adjacent rooms all the time; Zero amenities in the room, even a slipper; No comforter; The elevators are super slow. The hotel is situated in a great location, close to all the major sights and attractions of DC (Capitol, National Mall, National Archives, etc.). Super friendly staff and a nice design-esque look.
Unfortunately the rooms are extremely small. We booked a Corner King, and it was hard to even find space for our two suitcases. There is no sitting option, except a small chair. And the bathroom is tiny. As we were out and about most of our days, this didn't really matter to us. What did matter was the annoying noise from the air condition or piping … we couldn't really figure out the source, but it was constant, loud, and made sleeping without ear plugs nearly impossible.

Lack of privacy while using the toilet, a couple light fixtures didn't work, found out my key card opened other patrons doors around me (I alerted the staff of this), remote control was dead but was replaced immediately by staff. Other than that everything was great.

O quarto é ótimo, estética linda. o pessoal do hotel é muito simpático. consegui fazer checkin antes do horário, isso foi muito bom. Ao chegar no aeroporto peguei um trem e desci em uma estação que era próxima, segui caminhando, parei para um café e logo já estava no hotel. Apesar da chuva consegui fazer algumas caminhadas por aquela parte da cidade e a localização é ótima... tem muitas coisas legais por perto. Também ganhei um drink do hotel, durante a noite na recepção tem um bar e alguns jogos, é um ótimo lugar!

The rooftop was beautiful, parlor restaurant was delicious, the staff was kind and the lobby bar and free drinks were lovely. I also like the working space - library - but would be nice to have a desk in the bedroom.
The room was beyond small (i saw other rooms, this was much smaller) and was told I could not be switched out. It was below 30 outside, cold in the room and the thermometer was not working and the room does not have a comforter. Disappointing. The throw and sheets is not enough for a DC winter day.

The person at check in was VERY kind and always willing to answer any questions we had. The shower was amazing, the bed was cool, and I liked that we could open the window for breeze. I liked the fact that we could eat on the patio deck on the 5th floor (outside of the fitness center). It was also in walkable distance to all the major things we wanted to explore. The block was pretty quiet and there are restaurants close by for dinner options.
the room was extremely small, which made it hard for me and my husband to maneuver through the room together. The pillows was very uncomfortable unfortunately. We are boomers at heart so checking in at the bar was uncomfortable for us but it wasn't bad since the person there was genuinely nice everyday. There wasn't any parking, we parked at city center DC parking garage (it is $27 for over night stay).

I loved everything about the Moxy. It’s a great location and walkable distance or metro ride to all the city attractions. I loved the Parlour Victoria, the rooftop bar, and games they had available onsite. I was able to enjoy the city by day and enjoy the nightlife right at the hotel so I didn’t have to travel far for that. Just great will definitely be back!
One of the check in staffers was unpleasant and needs to work on his customer service skills. I did not like him to be Frank and if it weren’t for all the other great things this hotel had going for it my review would have been different. He wasn’t very professional and didn’t match the vibe of the hotel. Glad I had very little interaction with him.

I loved that the property was in a great location. They had a restaurant next door and a rooftop restaurant/ bar. They, also, had a bar by the check-in desk. We truly enjoyed our romantic weekend.
The room we were in was a lot smaller than i expected. I think it would’ve been better for a single-person stay.

Really intended for young hip people, not oldsters. The room was way too small. Contemporary feel but too much glass. Bathroom walls were glass, not our thing. Clean hotel but not enough creature comforts for older folks.
