Such a great stay! Bed was comfy, no bunks and spacious room. Breakfast each morning was unbelievable, and they happily cater to diatery needs (vegan/vego etc). There were included activities every night - mole and mezcal tasting, cocktails, movies and cooking class - all of which were well thought out and a great way to meet other guests. The workers and volunteers were super lovely and helpful. I had an amazing time and I will defintley stay again if I am lucky enough to find myself back in Oaxaca.
The bathroom was a little dated, but not really an issue for me. Also it's not in the centro, but the walk is easy and I never felt unsafe.

excellent breakfast, central location, friendly staff
Bed and pillow were uncomfortable

nothing bad to say about this hostel, its been my favourite out of 20 or so hostels across the Americas. The breakfast is incredible, the rooms are amazingly priced, and its the perfect size to get to know everyone well. It felt like such a great little community. The hostel organises events almost every day, which is great if you're a solo traveller. All the volunteers were lovely people. It's not a party hostal due to its size, but we went out to bars multiple times.
The location could be better, it's a couple of streets away from the busy area. Just don't walk home alone at 2am and you won't have any issues.

Wonderful staff, comfortable, hospitable, helpful, amazing breakfast

Great staff, amazing free breakfast, nice activities

Hostal Central did exceptional breakfasts that was included in the rate and the breakfast changed each day. They also were very happy to cater for Vegans. The hostal had an event or activity each evening which was a great way for people to meet and learn about Oaxaca and Mexico. Events included cooking classes, movie nights and were great fun. The staff at the hostal were incredibly helpful in booking taxis, providing advice on restaurants and bus information.
We had a double room with private bathroom which was located facing the street. Room was a little noisy as window needed to be open (no A/C) but after one night was not an issue.

The staff was super friendly. The facilities were very clean. The breakfast was delicious!
I liked it all.

Atmosphere at the hostel immediately makes you feel home. Staff was so friendly and helpful too. Loved that they offer different evening activities, especially free meals. Food is prepared with lots of love. Never had such good hostel breakfast!! !
People say the location is actually not central. I think the location of the place is perfect. It’s a short walk to reach everything you want. I personally prefer this location to being right at the Santo Domingo Church were it is so loud and touristy.
4.7
Super friendly volunteers, really helpful with info.
Great activities offered within the hostel. Good location.
The property is a bit dated and needs some TLC, bathroom on top floor often dirty.
4.7
Very small hostel, so its easy to meet people
The staff is very nice and socializes with the guests
Kitchen is well equipped
Breakfast is amazing
Not enough bathrooms / showers for guests, so they get dirty quickly as well
4.7
Hostel with amazing atmosphere where you can meet people and make friends without being a “party hostel”. The breakfast is amazing and very good location.

Wonderful hostel with a friendly atmosphere. The breakfast is amazing!! It’s a smaller hostel but it feels sociable due to the events (pizza night, mezcal tasting). Walkable distance to everything you need.
4.7
The property is very minimalistic in a sense but delivers what it promises. Staff is great.
Very anonymous and no real communal area. It feels more like a house that rents out rooms short-term.

Breakfast
Was a bit dirty

Very friendly staff. Wonderful mezcal tasting event, very memorable. Comfortable atmosphere.
The whole hostel got booked out so the day we left they said we could not store luggage there to be picked up later in the day
4.7
The amaxing ambiance, patio, dining room and tv room. Many places to hang out and meet other people. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are cleaned every day, the beds made up. I slept in 3 rooms, love the rooms with the normal beds ans lots of space. Although I slept very well in the bunkbed dorm too.
It is a quiet hostel, not to big. It felt to me like a family as everyone shows up in the dining room, having breakfast together. And the quality of the food is amazing, fresh prepared, every day different and always this finishing touch like being in a restaurant. A very good start of the day this fulfilling breakfast. The owners are so nice too. They cooked for us on mole night, pizza night. I felt so taken cared for.
I might be spoiled now.....

Super cute hostel with activities organized almost every night which is great to socialize, the owners are very nice and the volunteers working there will become your friends. Breakfast is homemade and delicious, dorms are spacious
everything was perfect !
4.7
Nice community hostel, hot water, workspace area, big tv, activities, trips offered from hotel do Hierve el aqua, and free walking tour. Amazing breakfast included hot cooked dish not like in other hostels. They do your bed. Great internet.
Breakfast is served very late from 8.30.

This was one of the best hostels I was in Central America. Firstly, it's small and all rooms are super spacious w/ private bathrooms and no bed bunks! The beds are comfy&clean and the dining area is wonderful.
Secondly, the staff was super welcoming and nice, giving excellent recommendations and support on everything!! The free breakfast is probably one of the best meals you'll have in Oaxaca. There's a homie-vibe all the time and a lot of effort to socialise with great activities
Kitchen is quite small&basic, but honestly Oaxaca isn't a place to cook, but to try local food & cuisine so I didn't mind. Also location isn't super central but I actually liked exploring the hostek area
4.7
What can I say, the rumours are true. This feels like coming home. Everything was so nice, everyone so friendly. So easy to socialise and also easy to be on your own if you please.
And the breakfast is AMAZING. Even for a vegan!!
There is noise from the street. Could not care less though as everything else makes up for it.

-Staff very polite and helpful
-Property was clean and very well put together
-All the facilities that were promised, were there (like well working fan)
We did not unfortunately have the opportunity to try the breakfast so no comment on that.
We had a private room w a private bathroom
- the bathroom smelled worst than a public bathroom and there was nothing you could do. There were also small mold stains in the ceiling.
- the facilities were all very old
-All in all very overpriced for what it was. I ofc did not expect for a hotel experience but I stayed in hostels before and it was a lot of money for the experience. For 60€ the night for 2 people the room was old, there was no privacy as the door was like a bedroom door (I could see the outside from under the door) and also our window was on top of the reception and we could hear everything (bell, phone from reception and talking).
4.7
Loved the amazing staff who really takes care of you, and also really loved the way the hostel is set up along with the events they host, so it's easy to start talking to fellow travelers (a great group when i was there). Breakfast is as good as they say, which leaves you with the difficult decision of eating there or try the great Oaxacan food. The dorms were quite private as well, with walls dividing beds.
The location is less central than the name implies (lol) and it can supposedly get sketchy at night if returning from a bar
4.7
First place i'm giving a 10/10, staff, rooms, cleanliness, atmosphere, activities. All perfect, would stay again!
Easily fully booked so be fast ;)
4.7
Amazing atmosphere, there are a tone of events at the hostel that make you learn about the culture and brings people together! breakfast is absolutely phenomenal and location is very close to the center.
4.7
Breakfast was good.
Activities for guest to socialize were good.
friendly staff
The shared bathroom needs a towel hanger and soap dispenser.
The room was very hot and not clean enough.
The furniture in that room was very poor and old. They gave me the worst room the first night. They transfered me on the second night to a better room but it was hot too. Additionally I was not able to sleep because the hostal’s front door would slam after each guest entered the facility at all hours of the night.
4.7
loved the location as all our favorite markets were near, also a vegetarian place was just around the corner and the breakfasts were all veg friendly, overall a great place
4.7
Amazing hostel, accommodating owners, great volunteers. I'm always sceptic about free breakfast but the food here is top quality. There are social activities almost every night where there's free hand made food and nice drinks. Rooms are big and only have 3 or 4 beds. Hot water, good location. I can't wait to be back!
4.7
Twin bed, instead of a bunk, with lots of space in the room was very good in the hostel. The common area was really nice. Breakfast were delicious everyday. And, the free activities each evening were quite unique and chance to meet with other travelers.
The bed was very old and very uncomfortable. The bathroom was quite dirty because they never really mopped it. Visually, it looks clean, but unfortunately, it’s not. The cleaning can be easily improved.
4.7
One of the best hostels i stayed during my 3months travel. Tons of activites, very social atmosphere, normal beds instead of bunk beds etc
4.7
Breakfast is amazing, the staff is really friendly and we met a lot of nice people. We had a private room which was huge (and clean!). Also the patio is really nice to hang out. They organise some fun evening activities as well (mezcal night, pictionary game night with guacamole,...) which makes it easy to connect with everyone from the hostel! Would definitely recommend!
The shower knob in the private room seemed a bit broken and splashed everywhere but on your body, so not very easy to take a good shower. Also the reception is only open as of 8am. If you take a night bus and arrive early in the morning, keep in mind that you won't be able to enter before.
