About this cottage rental

The Old Farmhouse is a cottage with plenty of charm and character. Dating back to the 1880’s, this 140 year old cottage was owned by a farmer who built the house for his daughters. Recently renovated, the house has retained some of its original features – which include an old water pump in the back garden!

This stunningly presented 3 storey cottage offers everything you’ll need for comfort and convenience. Located near to the town, fairground and Coney Beach, it's perfect for families who want to be near to all the amenities that Porthcawl has to offer. What’s more, with an entertainment centre, 4 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, 3 reception rooms and a multipurpose room in the attic, families can enjoy holidaying together with plenty of space to spread out. There is off road parking to fit 2 cars.

**ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE** (new addition for 2022)

Located in the recently updated and extended back garden, this large 40sqm entertainment centre offers a bar, pool table and TV area which has a range of channels from sports to movies and also comes with a PS4 console and plenty of games to keep the kids entertained on rainy days. And, if they want to take a break from technology – we have plenty of board games too!

GROUND FLOOR

Upon entry, you are welcomed in to a beautiful hallway which initially leads to the lounge and dining room area.

Lounge and dining room. The lounge is comfortable, bright and has a spacious feel. There is a wide screen TV, Chesterfield settee and a traditional fireplace. This area leads to the dining room which has an extendable table which can seat 8. There are also French doors leading out to a large garden, which is ideal for kids to play, which also includes a seating area and a BBQ.

The snug. This room is perfect for cosy evenings in. Whether you want to read (lots of books are provided) or watch TV. And, the comfortable Chesterfield pulls out in to a bed settee to provide additional sleeping capacity.

Downstairs bathroom. There is a large bathroom on the ground floor for convenience.

Kitchen. To the rear of the property is the kitchen, which is a good size space, with a range of integrated appliances. The available appliances include a range cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. With plenty of cookware, crockery, glassware, a microwave, kettle and toaster, the kitchen is very well equipped.

FIRST FLOOR

Bedrooms: This floor offers four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king size bed which can also be split into twin beds, if required. The two other bedrooms are both comfortably appointed and can accommodate 2 people. The ‘yellow’ bedroom has a trundle bed, so the bottom pulls out to offer another single bed – perfect to accommodate 2 kids or an adult and a child.

Bathroom: This large family bathroom offers a bath and separate shower.

SECOND FLOOR

The large attic room which can be used as guests desire. It is equipped with a day bed, so can be used as a reading space, games room or sleeping area.

This property has lots of space and the owner has taken time with soft furnishings and 'nick-naks' to make the property feel very much like a home. We were 6 adults and had all we could need (including 6 flutes and a champagne bucket!). Although on a fairly busy road, the house is quiet whilst still being easily walkable to the beach, a lovely Aldi and the 'penny slots'. We could only get one car on the parking area (you could get two short cars), but it was easy to park the other one nearby. Rear garden area and entertainment building meant space outside of the house itself whatever the weather. Kitchen has all the utensils you could need and a good fridge/freezer. House was reasonably clean, given age and circumstances. Would recommend to others.

All over very nice house with 5 bedrooms, big kitchen, 2 living rooms and a playroom (pool billiard). Well equipped. Good communication, they forgot to empty the garbage cans and recycling garbage, but solved the problem quickly. The gas grill was more or less rusted away and could not be used, what a pity, should be renewed. Overall is to be recommended.

The house was ideal for our purposes. Parking was a slight down side, and a nearby Karaoke on one of the night's was loud but did not affect us too much. Overall, we liked the house and we plan to return in future.

This property was such a surprise on entering as there are lots of rooms on 3 floors. The kitchen is well equipt clean and tidy. The best feature is the entertainment centre with the pool table, screen and bar. Since the weather was so rotten we spent a lot of our time in there and it made out stay so much fun. Thank you Rachel for helping us out when we forgot our key. Faultless stay. We hope to return as this house is near our Welsh family.

Amazing house with so much space and things to do. Location wise is perfect for a walk to the beach or into the town centre. The hosts will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. Even coming out to let me in when i stupidly got myself locked out, sorry about that!! Would love to book here again in the future.

We waited 3 years for his family getaway and this property surpassed our expectations. It was clean, spacious, well equipped and with enough space that we never felt squashed. It has a lovely outdoor area, with generous seating. The new entertainment centre in the garden is a great addition. Rachel, was an excellent host with great communication. We have already recommended the property to other family and friends and hope to return ourselves!

This is probably the best rental we have had within the UK. The location is great for beach, walks, shopping and food. The house is lovely. Well laid out with almost everything you could want for a long or short stay. Beautiful garden too, with plenty of sun/shade. Rachel is a perfect host. Always available for any questions. We hope to be back soon.

The house is lovely, very clean and spacious, a nice welcome basket and a games room in the garden which the children loved. All the beds were very comfortable, rather tight parking for 2 cars out front, slightly let down by neighbourhood which has seen better days!

The only downside was that we were unable to use the garden, which we were not aware of before coming but there was a small patio area to the side of the building that we could sit out on if we wanted too. The house was lovely and decorated nicely, clean and had all we needed.

A fantastic new year

We were thrilled with the property and all its facilities. It suited two families with small children perfectly. There was so much for us to do in a perfect location to walk to the beach and get groceries as and when. The games for the children and having two rooms with tvs was perfect for our age range. Everything was lovely the hamper was so great and we had such a lovely new year.

Great location

We had never been to Porthcawl before so weren’t sure what to expect. However, the location of this house 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and the amenities really exceeded our expectations. Rachel was really helpful in the check-in and we had an amazing time. The house was high spec and the big baths were wonderful for relaxing after surfing in the sea. We’d love to come back and we’d definitely recommend this house to you!
