I really liked my stay at The Mermaid Cottage. Its well decorated. And is in close proximity to a few fun places for dinner, and shopping. St Marys was a fun quite town.

Thick cottage was the perfect size and much better than a hotel. Very close to everything. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing missing is a full length mirror. Still perfectly charming ❤️

Two night stay to visit Cumberland Island. This was the perfect little house for the two of us. Location was perfect since it’s very near downtown St. Marys.

The cottage and the whole town is just what the doctor ordered. The cottage is just beautifully decorated and the area is so quite. We fell in love with the town and the people. Wonderful responsive host and the is clean and minutes from the ferry. We will be back.

I want to start this off by saying I had a great time, was left alone, and the place had more than what a person/couple would ever need. Barbara was quick to respond to questions with real answers and was flexible in response to special requests. Just make sure to research the area (i.e. driving rules, current dining options/times, detailed maps, etc. are not provided) before you arrive so you can maximize your time in the beautiful area!

We visited St Mary’s to enjoy the small town charm and the Cumberland Island National Seashore. We had a great time. The cottage is very cute and conveniently located. I would recommend just a couple upgrades: mattress, shower head, and a smart tv, We cook and the light on the stove was out. A small thing. The cottage is a bargain and we will be planning on staying again!

The cottage was so cute and very clean. We were pleasantly surprised to see how close we were to the riverfront. We have family that just moved to St Mary’s. This will be our go to place to stay when visiting.

The Merry Mermaid Cottage is conveniently located within walking distance of the waterfront (about 1/2 mile). The cottage is well stocked with all necessary kitchen utensils, appliances, and cookware for those who like to prepare their own meals. There is also a gas grill located behind the back deck. For those who prefer to eat out, there are several restaurants within walking distance featuring pizza, seafood, sandwiches, salads, etc. In addition, the cottage is well stocked with linens and towels, as well as extra blankets and pillows. Also located nearby are the Cumberland Island Ferry and Visitors Center, Waterfront Park, and the St. Marys Submarine Museum. I would highly recommend a visit to the Submarine Museum - especially for those who served aboard a submarine or have a family connection to a submariner. Barbara, the owner, was very helpful and readily available via text, phone, or email for any problem that may arise. Overall stay was excellent.

Stayed 2 nights. Visited Cumberland Island. The small house was okay. Cleanliness could have been better and the unit needs a new TV, as the sound cut out and crackled frequently. Otherwise, it was fine

A nice place to get away. Good proximity to Jacksonville, Fernandina/Amelia, and other attractions. Away from the hustle and bustle. Downtown St Mary’s waterway was a nice place to watch the sunset. Cottage had plenty of room, towels, appliances, and outdoor amenities. Owner communication was prompt. For a place that allows dogs, it didn’t smell like it. That’s a plus+. We will stay here again if ever in the area.

We walked from the house to downtown which was nice.
The house has a strong AC which you need most of the year in southern GA.
They also provided cable TV that not everyone does anymore. I would upgrade the TV to a smart TV. TCL Roku TV is what we use in our STR's.
I agree with the others about it being time to replace the mattress.
Rain at night is noisy as there are metal window overhangs that the rain hits and makes it difficult to sleep.
There are nice stainless appliances but no ice maker.
The fenced yard is nice if you're bringing your pet.
The front porch deck has a weak spot that will need to be addressed in the near future.
The few issue we had could be easily fixed.
It met all our needs and I would recommend the place.

Mermaid Cottage is deceptively spacious. Shower had qreat water pressure. Enjoyed cofee and reading on deck and dog loved the fenced yard. A couple of the houses around the corner are a little run down but no safety concerns. Everyone was friendly. If I'm back in St Mary's/Amelia Island area, I will book again.

My wife and I stayed here for about a week while meeting with the builder for our new home in St Marys. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and the location is convenient to everything in the town. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who desires a relaxing location in the heart of St Marys!

This was our first visit to St Mary’s and we were pleased with our stay in the merry mermaid cottage. The cottage was great and had everything we needed. Close to everything in St Mary’s. You can walk to downtown (only a few blocks). We would stay there again. Easy to communicate with owner.

This little cottage is in a great location close to parks and all activities with a fenced in yard for our 3 dogs. It was spotless, nicely furnished and updated with everything you could possibly need. The backyard and porch are shaded so it was a great place to relax even in the afternoon. The owner was very responsive to our messages and provided text messages during our stay to ensure we were able to access the property smoothly.
We highly recommend this property.
