About this house rental
The three minute video attached says it best! "Lil" House is a four bedroom, three bath house, with spacious living area and something for everyone in your group! Its unique wrap-around porch allows for a breeze at any time of the day or night. Designed like a riverboat, each room (including the bedrooms) have doors leading out to the wrap-around porch. The house's best feature is the sunsets which are unobstructed due to its northern most point on the island. They can be observed from the upper or lower deck with lots of seating options on each. The sandy yard with a wooden boardwalk-covered seawall only feet from the porch allows for the best of both island worlds.....sand fun for the kids and sunbathers, and boat access for the swimmers and sports enthusiast. The fishing from the dock is great both day and night. The underwater nightlight is an added bonus and lends itself to great night fishing. Swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding (all included) are extremely easy to do right in front of the house. AND its so close to the house that you can talk to your family and friends on the front porch while you swim in front of the house. Dolphins are seen often frolicking out front and dive-bombing pelicans are very entertaining to watch from one of the bed swing, two porch swings, three sofas, two arm chairs, two lounge chairs, or two rocking chairs.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The third has twin beds with one trundle. And the fourth bedroom, called the Teen Bunk Room because it is located downstairs with a separate entrance offering lots of privacy, has two sets of bunk beds with twin beds on top and full size beds on bottom. This room is not suitable for small children however, since there is no interior entrance to the bunkroom; it’s only accessible from the outside (which is covered.) The bunk room also has a TV and Wii, and its own bathroom.
Also, downstairs on the lower decks are four Adirondack chairs, a sofa, two arm chairs, a TV, a bed swing, a dining table and four chairs, a bar table with four barstools, and two lounge chairs for sun bathing. A green egg grill/smoker is provided and excellent for steaks and grilled oysters. There is also a PK grill that can be rolled out to the dock. There is a commercial grade ping pong table, as well as corn hole and bocce ball.
If you want to walk down to the Gulf-side beach, a wagon and beach chairs are provided. Our favorite thing to do with kids is to walk the 2 blocks to the beach at dusk with flashlights, nets, and buckets and let them chase and capture sand crabs. The best part is letting the crabs go at one time and watching the kids scramble to get out of the way!
Other things we like to do on the island include exploring the deserted stretch of sand dunes, riding bikes on the 9-mile bike path, spending the day at the Isle Dauphine Public Swim Club swimming in the pool or playing pickleball/tennis/golf, renting a pontoon boat and taking it for a picnic lunch on sand island, paddling the kayaks in the nearby estuary where you can park and walk to the wine bar or the sno cone place, touring the bird sanctuary or the Aquarium of Alabama, enjoying fresh pastries at Lighthouse Bakery, or walking to Island Rainbow for a snow cone or pizza dinner. Each fun-filled day will culminate with an amazing and memorable sunset that can be watched from the front porch or dock.
So whether you are a family with small children, or snowbirds looking for tranquility, or a fishing enthusiast, Lil House is for you! And the following pictures tell it all! (Don’t miss the four minute video!)

This was our third stay at Susan's home and each visit is better than the last. We love all of the updates. This home is the perfect place to relax and spend time with your family. There were ten of us this trip including our 3 adult children and their significant others, our teenager and our 9 year old grandson. Lots of fun was had by all! Thanks again for a wonderful place to vacation.

Everything was spectacular !!!! The sunsets from the dock was amazing every night. They were million dollar sunsets and each one was special. The kayak and paddle board were used and appreciated by our entire group. The house was just right for our family of 8. The grills made cooking easy and fun. Everyone enjoyed the swing bed. This house and location is a 100/10 every time.

Had a great week at Lil House with 6 adults and 2 infants! The house was clean and very well stocked. Especially enjoyed all the games and seating underneath the house. Next door neighbors were very nice and helpful too! We will be back!

We have wanted to visit the Gulf Shores area for quite a while. I was impressed to find this gem on Dauphin Island. The property was amazing. It felt like a tropical home away from home. The home was clean and well appointed and the location on the water with kayaks, paddle boards, swimming, and finishing made it so we didn’t feel the need to leave to be entertained. The outdoor furniture and covered deck made enjoying the sunsets over the bay some for the memory books. Communication with the host was very easy. Would highly recommend and will come back to the Lil House when we visit Dauphin Island again.

Lil House was great! Although the weather didn't cooperate for our fishing, we did have some incredible sunsets! Our 14 year old grandson did have a unique experience with a dolphin as it swam right next to his fishing kayak and followed him back to the dock.
You could not ask for a better host than Susan. She provided us with a wealth of information about Dauphin Island, from where to grocery shop, places to visit, and contact information for a variety of rentals. We hope to come back to Lil House again!

We loved the location of the home. The only downfall was the cleanliness of the home. The owner was super accommodating with all questions which was so helpful, but we just wished the home was cleaner. We had a great time on our vacation.

Lil House was absolutely perfect for our February getaway! The home is cozy, comfortable, and clean. It had everything and more than we could have asked for. The bay is so close and the views are great from both inside and outside. There are so many things to enjoy from the outdoor areas. We fished from the dock, watched the pelicans and herons catch fish in the light at night, played ping pong, and read books on the porch swing bed. The sunsets are absolutely beautiful! We watched dolphins swim by the dock each day. We also enjoyed walking on the beaches and hiking the Audubon trails. We had a wonderful trip and will rent from Susan again in the future. She was very welcoming and provided all kinds of helpful information. Thanks for the amazing memories!

We absolutely love our vacations to Dauphin Island and have stayed on several properties on the island. This one will always be at the top of our list. The dock and the view are beautiful! The house had everything we needed for a successful and fun filled trip. Susan was an amazing and responsive host and answered every question we had. We will definitely stay at this home again and hopefully this summer! See you soon!

This house was perfect! The owner had great communication skills. The kids enjoyed having their own space in the bunk room to relax and play. The wrap around porch was great! Even in the rain, we found dry places to sit. There were 9 of us total and we had plenty of room. The view from the dock was perfect. We can't wait to visit again!

The house is as described. Excellent property and host. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay on the bay side. We had several dolphins swim within feet of the dock. Fishing was excellent, access to beach was easy. Make sure you spend time at night watching the light out in the bay, we saw several fish and a shark come in at night to the light. Only recommendation is to rebuild the lower dock for easy access to the kayaks.

The house was wonderful and all the amenities provided were awesome! Our host was great and even mailed me some AirPods that one of my teenagers dropped on our way out! We loved kayaking and paddling in the bay and playing cards on the porch!

Lil House was perfect for our family vacation to Dauphin Island. We chose this house due to all the extra fun activities it had to offer outside of going to the beach everyday. Cornhole and Ping-Pong was a daily activity. We especially enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. The description doesn't lie when talking about the amazing sunsets! Even our boys enjoyed heading out to the dock to watch the sunset each night. My goal for our trip was a laid back and relaxing time for myself without having to feel like I needed to entertain someone everyday. Mission accomplished - there were more than enough options. I underestimated the beauty of the surroundings when not right on the beach, the location and aesthetic of this home was just perfect. Also worth mentioning, the furniture was all very comfortable - and I loved having so many different hang out spaces. Just about everyone took turns napping on the giant swing. We'd never been to the island before but knew from research that there weren't a ton of dining out options. We prepared most all of own meals at the house and loved the fact that everything we needed was already there. I only have one regret about the whole stay...we did not visit the Lighthouse Bakery until our last morning. Oh my gosh! It should definitely be a must on your list.

This was such a great place to stay. The location couldn’t be better with bay access/fishing right in front of the house and a short walk to the beach. There are so many thoughtful touches in the house and handy beach tools and toys in the storage closet. There is something fun for everyone.

We enjoyed our week at Lil House!! There was plenty of room for all 9 of us, we loved all the amenities, especially the kayaks!!! We played corn hole, ping pong! The only thing I have negative to say and this isn’t the owners fault was the refrigerator smelt like fish horribly( I assume from prior guest fishing and storing them) but I took 30 minutes and cleaned it out before putting our groceries in there. And the smell was gone! The neighbors was exceptional, and so friendly!! We love Dauphin Island and this just might become our yearly vacation spot!! We visited Fort Gaines and USS Alabama also so lots of attractions within a hour from the house. Definitely a different vibe and away from the crowds of Florida!!

We enjoyed our stay at Lil House! There was plenty of room for all 7 of us. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed for the meals we cooked. There was lots to do outside for fun. We really enjoyed the sanded areas for play, fished of the dock, played ping pong and took the kayaks out in the bay. The wrap around porch was great for watching the beautiful sunsets. Highly recommend this spot.

Lil House was a great spot to enjoy spring break. The outdoor area is truly the best part. The kayaks, the ping pong table, outdoor games, fish and the sitting area. When the weather was good, there were so so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. The home is small but plenty of room for a family of 4. Such a great host and considered everything for a guest to enjoy their stay. If you are looking for a low key get away, away from crowds and lines, this place is great! Thank you for being a great host!

This house is perfect! It is clean, updated, comfortable, plenty of beds, full of extras and right on the water. We had 3 generations stay for a week. The separate teen room on the bottom is fantastic. There were sound machines in every bedroom.
The kitchen is very well stocked. Including an amazing Breville waffle iron. Definintely plan on making waffles during your stay. And the green egg type grill was fantastic for seafood bought at Skinner's. Be sure to buy your groceries before you cross the bridge to the island and then just relax.
There are seating options everywhere outside and gorgeous views all day. The sunsets are stunning.
This is the perfect place to stay and completely relax away from it all and just have fun together as a family.
Susan is a very responsive and gracious host and couldn't have been more pleasant to communicate with. This was the best VRBO we have stayed in!

This is the second time we have stayed at this beautiful rental. The property is great - it has everything you need. And it feels more like a charming, beautiful home than a rental. Wonderful sunsets from the wrap around porch. Beautiful outdoor spaces. Property owner is local, very responsive and provides you with all the information and suggestions needed to get the most out of your stay on this beautiful island. We will be back next year!

My family enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and had lots of amenities! The weather wasn’t bad but in the days it was we still have plenty to keep us busy. Thanks!

We arrived in the midst of an arctic blast. Notwithstanding, the place is great. Accurately describes, right on the water, convenient location. Host communication was phenomenal, ensuring quick check in and several times ensuring we were alright (again, due to weather). The bunkhouse was perfect for our two teenagers. It was like they had their own place during our stay.
Host provided many amenities not found in other VRBOs we have stayed (spices, toiletries, garbage bags, dishwasher detergent, washing machine detergent). Enough to get us through our entire stay. Check out was just as easy. We would definitely stay here again if we travel to the area.

This Lil House was perfect for our family get together. Being so late in the season, the weather was iffy but it didn't matter because the weekend was all about eating meals with the family, laughing, and playing with the kids. The two teen age granddaughters slept in the room with the single beds. The trundle pulled out so their young autistic brother could sleep in there too and he was very comfortable and happy. The downstairs unit was perfect for my husband's sister and our daughter and her two grandkids. Then my husband and I had the master and our daughter and her husband the other large bed. Everything I needed the whole weekend for cooking was available in the kitchen and my husband did the turkey on the green egg for Thanksgiving. We saw schools of fish swimming under the dock, jelly fish off the dock, and tons of seabirds. We played board games and ping pong and watched a Christmas movie all together. We visited the Sea Lab, pet sting rays, and saw dolphins in the cove there! The house was very clean and had more than enough of everything. It was the perfect house to accommodate our large group inside and outside when gathering together. We had an excellent time. Thank you!

We loved our stay at Lil House!!! There were so many things there to make our stay as if we were at home - extras in the kitchen and bathrooms and as promised, lots to do outside for fun. We really enjoyed the sanded areas for play and the large padded swing for naps - oh that was marvelous. The wrap around porch was so fun for the kids to run around. The sunsets were absolutely gorgeous. Fishing was better off the dock than going out on a chartered boat! And the hosts were easy to get ahold of for all our needs! Highly highly recommend this spot for your vacation.

The house was beautiful and Susan was great. It was a bit smaller than it seemed on the listing and we weren’t able to utilize the downstairs due to mold smell. The downstairs bunks which we were planning to have for our boys was also not accessible through the upstairs inside of the house… so not suitable for younger children as a bedroom… the house was not as clean as we would have liked, but all in all we had a great time relaxing on the island.

This house was beyond perfect for our family vacation. This is our last family vacation before our youngest goes off to college and we could not have picked a better place. The best part of this house was the outdoor space, and we spent the majority of our awake time lounging on the bed swing (my favorite), playing ping pong (the kids favorite), grilling out and watching the dive bombing pelicans, dolphins and other sea creatures from the dock. It was the most relaxing vacation and just what we needed. The island is beautiful and west end beach is the perfect place to watch the sunset. We couldn't get over the beauty of it all. Thank you for providing such a perfect retreat for families.

By far, my favorite vacation in years!
We absolutely LOVED this house and the island itself. The house is SO comfortable…Susan has everything there to make a comfortable and enjoyable trip. There was so much outdoor seating…we spent hours fishing on the dock and just porch sitting and soaking up the view. We never got tired of the view! The neighbors were also very friendly and helpful! We took the ferry over to Gulf Shores one day for some added excitement, but the daily simplicity of the island was exactly what we needed. We didn’t want to leave and we will certainly be back!

Family Vacation 2022
This house was amazing for our family vacation. We needed a rest from our hectic schedule back home. We enjoyed Lil House and all the games on the property. We played corn hole, ping pong, played cards and fished off the dock. When we didn’t feel like taking all of our stuff to the beach, we enjoyed laying out in the beach lounge chairs or sat on the deck. We watched dolphins swim by the dock nightly. If you enjoy relaxation, this home is for you. We hope to rent again someday. Thanks for everything Susan, The Medjey Family

Great spring break
Had a great stay at lil house. Everything was as described. The house was nice and in a nice location. Neighborhood was quiet. Had fun jump off the dock and swimming. We kayaked and paddle boarded. Did a lot of fishing right off the dock as well. Owner was very communicative, answered all my questions, and gave suggestions of things to do in the area. All around great trip.
