About this house rental
Vacation in a tranquil setting on beautiful Back Bay. View incredible sunsets from your back yard after a day of swimming and fishing in the fresh water of Back Bay or after a day of surf and sand on the beach. Play tennis at our clubhouse, swim in two pools, hike or bike through a nature trail in Back Bay, go kayaking, rent jet skis right next door or go fishing in the Atlantic Ocean on the Pier at Sandbridge Beach right across the street. If you wander long enough on the nature trails of Back Bay's 4,600 acres of Wildlife Preserve you could end up in North Carolina! Back Bay is listed as one of the top 10 Must See Virginia Beach activities with a 92% thumbs up rating.
This cottage is located at Outdoor Resorts in Virginia Beach at Sandbridge Beach, Unit #132 . This cottage has a full kitchen and bath, sleeps 2 adults and 3 children, has killer Wifi and is located right on the water with your own private dock and deck with a large awning across the street from one of the two pools and bath house.
One of the many remarkable things about the location of this unit is the almost constant gentle breeze across the covered deck. You'll find it impossible not to relax in one of our cushioned outdoor chairs with the sounds of the bay and its cool breeze blowing across the shaded deck. The master bedroom has a full size bed and a second bedroom has bunk beds. The large great room has reclining chairs, a futon, dining area and full size kitchen. There is also a full size bathroom and outdoor shower. The walls are knotted pine and the floors are hardwood. It is a gorgeous unit.
The deck practically sits on top of the water and has top of the line Adirondack Chairs, a table with plenty of seating and a gas grill. This cottage is located in one of the only places in the world where you can wake up on the banks of a fresh water National Wildlife Preserve and walk across the street to swim or surf in the ocean. It is impossible to find accommodations any closer to the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. To check out this incredible national treasure just Google 'Back Bay Virginia'. The ocean and beach is less than a 2 minute walk across the street from the front of the resort. It is truly a remarkable location.
All rentals will come with a complete linen package included in the cleaning fee. This will include professionally cleaned bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, and kitchen towels. The cleaned linens and towels are then stored for a week prior to use. You will still need to bring your own beach towels. Also, I will also make sure the unit has a starter roll of paper towels, toilet paper and a trash bag. The first thing you should do upon arrival is dip your feet in the bay and NOT have to run to Walmart. We do not allow guests to bring their own towels and linens. We do require you to bring your own beach towels, as our towels are not permitted out of the cottages, thanks.
The Summer Combo Package is incredibly popular and is reserved almost every week of the summer by one of our guests. $400 gets you the combination to the owner's shed. Some of the items include bicycles and helmets, beach chairs, basketball, tennis rackets and tennis balls, Kayak, stand up Paddle Board, life vests, bath towel and linens, fishing rod and tackle box (for liability purposes actual tackle must be purchased separately - there is a store just outside our gate) and more! The package is priced near the cost of renting just a few bikes for the week from local vendors. Please note we own and rent two units and this package serves each unit on a first come first served basis only. If you have an interest, please inquire about the Summer Combo Package as soon as possible.
If you rented from me in a previous year, let me know when you book and you will qualify for last year's pricing. There must be someone in your party staying in the unit who is older than 25. Maximum adult occupancy is 2 adults.
The outdoor pools open Memorial Day weekend and close Labor Day weekend.

Had a great time

Enjoyed a week at the cottage at Sandbridge. Worked well for our family of 5. Walking distance to the beach and took full advantage of the bay fishing and kayaking.

Let me start off by saying the views at this property are absolutely breathtaking!! Paul was quick to answer questions leading up to the trip and Susan was great as well. Our main concern was how uncomfortably HOT it is in the unit. My children had a difficult time sleeping and kept waking up drenched in sweat. I am surprised to not see this in other reviews so I am not sure if something changed. We kept all blinds closed like the instructions suggest, but it did not do a thing, it was easily 80 degrees in the unit with both A/Cs running. We also went to use the provided grill, and the entire bottom of the grill has rotted out which seemed a bit unsafe. Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be much done as far as deep cleaning, a lot of very dusty vents, and I myself cleaned the A/C filters. This space has amazing potential but definitely could use a fair amount of TLC and updating for the rate. As a head up for future bookers, with this unit being at the very end of the park, it adds a good amount of walking time to the beach, so we ended up driving over. I believe the 3 minute estimate is from the entrance gate. All in all, my family and I had a great and are grateful for the opportunity but I personally would not book again.

This was our first time in the area. Our stay (2 kids, 1 adult) was pleasant. The amenities at the home were plentiful and the sunsets were excellent! The neighborhood was very nice with quiet neighbors. The area had good restaurants and plenty to do. We were happy with our stay. The property manager, Susan, was very responsive to my inquiries. This was our first time staying in an RV, and we wouldn’t mind doing that again :)

The best part about this visit was the seat on the Back Bay! There is a wonderful covered patio to enjoy during the morning, daytime, and then the grand finale...the sunsets. The RV Resort was a bit of a pleasant surprise...very safe..very friendly...very clean, very quiet....Ice, close to the beach, trash pickup, lots of comforts! The kitchen was very well set up so you could fix your own meal, bring in take out, or stumble in after eating out. WE nicknamed it the Kaetaj, a generous label as a cottage...but we had a fantastic time and enjoyed every minute of the cozy, (maybe older), but fished, kayaked, biked, and relaxed! The ease of checkin was very much appreciated. Great communication and the speaker and tv set to a welcome music channel was a great hello!

Everything was perfect. The location, very close to the beach, perfect view from the porch.
We are definitely coming back.

The four of us were a little cramped but the spectacular view made up for it. The hosts were easy to work with and very friendly.

Awesome view, great location! Property Manager and owner were very attentive and readily available if needed.

First and most important, the house was clean.
Otherwise it's old but adequate. Appliances worked, plenty of hot water.
Several lights didn't work (bad bulbs?).
Beds are somewhere to sleep.
Outdoor gear is old, worn and again, adequate. Picture and description have a 2person kayak and 1 paddleboard. In reality, it's a 1 person kayak and 2 paddleboards.
We called the property manager prior to and on arrival several times. Turned out she was at a funeral. We were able to get in but no one ever came by to actually check us in.
The location on the bay is beautiful. Perfect spot for sunsets. It's an easy walk to the beach. The resort seems nice. Didn't have an opportunity to use the ammenities.

We had a little trouble checking in.
We did have to chase the key down. Also it was a LOT smaller than it looked in the pictures! The bed was comfy, but it really was small. On the plus side I do not think you could be closer to the water!!!

Everything as expected. Previously owned property in the resort. Safe & peaceful place to be

My family and I greatly enjoyed the waterfront location. It was the perfect location for a few days of relaxation.

The listing accurately described the property, communication with the property manager was easy and clear, and she was very adaptable to our changing circumstances. I would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I stayed in this property for four nights in late September. It was wonderful. The covered porch is just feet from the Bay, where we watched shorebirds fly by. A cormorant and a great blue heron were regular visitors. A five-minute walk took us to the ocean side of Sandbridge, where an uncluttered beach beckoned. We rode bicycles (available on the porch) to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, just down the road. Great attractions are nearby -- Virginia Aquarium, Military Aviation Museum, Norfolk Botanical Gardens, and USS Wisconsin tours -- all within one hour's drive or much less. Susan, the on-site property manager, was friendly, helpful, and always a phone call away. The property was clean and the neighborhood was peaceful. Five stars all the way around!

This place was nice for the 2 of us. Very relaxing and quite. Neighbors we're very nice always saying hello when we walked by. If you don't like bugs and nature it's not for you. Place was very clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely return in future.

The place is little too old and too small for 2 people.

it was a great stay at this property. we fully enjoyed the stay. the property is right on the water. got great sunset views from the property. The beach is also at a walkable distance. Overall great experience.

The place was absolutely perfect! You can't possibly get any closer to the water. Views of the sun setting are incredibly beautiful. Downtown Virginia Beach is only a 20 minute drive. I highly recommend staying here ! We will definitely be returning! Thanks for everything!

The location is more than you could ever expect. Perfect for fishing and the sunset was once in a lifetime. Trailer fit two adults and one teenager perfectly. Communication with property manager was flawless and quick. Two small issues were handled with care. We have family in Virginia Beach and we will never consider a hotel ever again. We will be back!

Best place in town to fish, swim at the beach or pool, and some good food all within the range of a golf cart!!! We used the kyak (summer package) and the paddle boards. Best vacation yet!

The view was absolutely stunning! The property manager was so very nice and made things completely painless. If I had any suggestion it would be to build a small walkway from the porch to the pier. The ground stayed saturated and anytime we would go check the poles for fish our feet and shoes would get wet. Absolutely wonderful place!!!

From check-in to check-out, we enjoyed our stay at your place! The view from the deck was perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee early in the morning and watching the sun set. About a 10 minute walk to the beach and close the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Owner was very proactive in informing me of the sleeping situation (one futon, one queen bed, and two small bunkbeds) before confirming the rental. Overall a great experience!

I loved that we had access to the water. I didnt like the fact that we could not swim in the water due to snakes!
The ocean is within a 5 minute walk.
Please watch out for the snakes in the water.

The property is a older RV but despite it being older the stay was very good. The ability to sit on the deck and look out over the water was amazing. The property manager was very responsive with any and all requests or inquiries.

We unfortunately didn't get to spend too much time at the property, we had family staying at a house up the road a few miles. I would say it is perfect for two adults. There isn't much room in the main bedroom for anything but the bed so we used the second room for our bags. The place was clean and the views are unbeatable. Beautiful sunsets. The property manager is very responsive, luckily we did not need to contact her during our stay. I would stay here again.

I'll start with the positives:
Amazing deck and view of the sound
Nice gas grill outside
Very comfortable bed in big bedroom
There were bikes and kayaks available for use...nice touch
Things we did not love:
The trailer needs some TLC. The furniture appears dingy and grungy.
The plastic door handle broke when we barely touched it....clearly dry rotted.
There is a spot in the corner of the floor that is damp and, if someone too heavy steps on it, their foot will go through. It's covered by the futon and we would have never encountered it if we had not actually used the futon as a bed but still...
When we arrived, the place had a VERY STRONG bleach odor. It was actually so intense that it was giving us headaches, even sitting on the deck. We opened the windows to air out the trailer and used the hose to rinse off the welcome mat, because that seemed to be holding in a lot of the bleach smell.
Ice trays were not filled so there was no ice when we went to have drinks.
I think a little TLC and this place could be a great deal for 2-3 people.

Location was great. RV was definitely older and lacked some easy attention to things that were in disrepair. Bunk beds were just a thin piece of foam on wood, kids could not sleep on them. same with futon and main bedroom. Paid way too much not to sleep for 2 nights. Would not recommend unless things are upgraded

Booking was a breeze. Owner responded quickly and communicated everything we needed to do to check in. To check in we had to call 15 min prior to arrival and when we got there so they could let us in the gate. Susan was very friendly and helpful getting us checked in and answered any question we had.
Although it rained most of our stay, we were still able to sit out under the large porch/deck and enjoy our coffee in the morning and sunsets in the evening. Even got a little fishing in, right off the dock.
We really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this property in sandbridge. Many nice amenities, and the sunset over the water was absolutely spectacular.

such a peaceful view! Hated that we had to stay inside after dusk or use insect repellent. This is an old "single-wide". Main bed "room" was small and bathroom and bunk beds were tiny. Thank goodness for very comfortable reclining chair which became my bed. Shower was too slippery to be safely used at our age. Hosts were very friendly and supportive.
